Is there such a thing as TOO much stuff? Cami Kangaroo doesn't think so!
Cami loves stuff!
Rocks, shells, feathers, toys...she loves it all.
Stuff is great for collecting, sorting and building.
There's only one her room is so FILLED with stuff it's nearly impossible to find anything!
Stuff-lovers of all ages find this book funny and relatable.
Cami Kangaroo Has Too Much Stuff provides parents with advice and tips to help guide their children as they learn to declutter their space and find peace in their surroundings.
Second in a series of books that reflect gentle parenting and nurture universal values that inspire and empower kids; bring it home to find out if Cami can keep her treasures from taking over her room!
I loved the art style. The first page is so beautiful with it's soft blue tones - the buttons, feathers, sea shells and bells are look so sweet. The art work continues this way, but is much more colourful yet still a very soft and friendly style.
Then comes the actual story - it's a lot wordier than a lot of children's books I've read, but that's a good thing! It is still simple, but has more sentences to read. I could see this being for readers 3-6 years old, with a parent for the younger end of the age group. The sentences are very descriptive and could be used as an excellent reading tool.
The message of the story was very wise - doing one thing at a time can make a big job much easier. The funny ending about the Father being similar made it quite silly (and adorable!). I think adults who read this story will really like that ending, because it's true that often kids get some of those habits from their parents.
At the end, there's also tips from other parents about how they help keep their children's rooms organized. I thought that was rather smart!
Overall, this was a cute and fun book with a good lesson! It's worthwhile to read to your children, students and reading buddies!
My daughter and I enjoyed Cami Kangaroo Has Too Much Stuff, although my daughter's initial reaction to seeing the cover was that she didn't really want to read a book about having too much stuff. Perhaps that is because she knows she has too much stuff and didn't want to be reminded of that fact. Nonetheless, we read the book together and we enjoyed the story. Cami is reminded by her mom to clean her room in order to be allowed to attend a party. Cami reluctantly goes to clean her room and becomes distracted by all her cool stuff. She remembers that she needs to return something special to her friend, but where is it? Daddy Kangaroo ends up coming into her room to help her locate the lost item and they organize the room together. In the end, we find out that the whole family needs some organization. I felt the story ended a little on a cliffhanger. Did the family become more organized? Sure Cami's room was clean, but did it stay that way? Will there be carryover? Well, there are organizing tips at the end of the book, so I guess it's up to the reader to learn to be more organized. I found this book when it was available for a free download and I am voluntarily sharing my review to let parents know what books are good for children. Jessica D. Greatly illustrated reading book. However, I think it could have been more rhyming to keep the pace. Though definitely something I’ll read to her when she gets older.
My son LOVES to collect things just like cami and he was completely relating to this book! And it really helped him understand how to take it one step at a time to clean your room! Great read!
What I Loved: The artwork in Cami Kangaroo Has Too Much Stuff was so well done. It fit the story so well. My daughter mentioned things about the artwork multiple times. “Mom her pouch is REALLY stuffed with toys.” “Mom, that’s a REALLY messy room.” I found that my daughter absolutely loved how the story mixed with the illustration so well.
How I Felt: The story in this book is great. I loved that the missing teddy bear was added because that is such a real issue for children. The mess doesn’t bother them like it does for adults. Children seem to get upset when they can’t find something that they want in all the mess. I liked how the father gave Cami a chance to do it herself and then helped her find a way to clean without being frustrated or overwhelmed when she needed help.
To Read or Not To Read: This is a great book for a preschool to early elementary school. It has a great lesson about cleaning up and offers an easy-to-remember tool to help a child clean.
What's This Book About Anyway? Cami Kangaroo is going to her cousin’s birthday party today! Before she can leave the house, her dad asks that she clean her room. This turns out to be a big task! Her room is a mess. Cami likes to keep everything. She places items in her pouch and everywhere in her room.
She tries to clean, but she gets distracted over and over. She realizes she has lost her cousin’s teddy bear and begins to look for it. Her dad comes in and helps her focus on one clean up task at a time and she discovers that it is much better to have her room clean. She is able to find the missing teddy bear and make it to the party.
Cami Kangaroo Has Too Much Stuff is the story of Cami who needs to tidy her room if she wants to attend a party that day but she finds she's been got too much stuff!
This is a brilliant story to help encourage children to tidy their rooms and it is done in such a relatable way. I like how Cami gets distracted and overwhelmed as she attempts to organise her room as it's something that most children (and myself!) will do before making any progress in tidying.
Cami is a great character as you can see how much Cami wants to do as she's asked but she just doesn't know how to go about it. It's lovely to see her parents being so reassuring and supportive when Cami needs help and I like the fun twist at the end of the story.
The illustrations are lovely with gorgeous hand drawn cartoon like pictures and it's brilliant to see all of Cami's things as it is interesting to look at and perfect to show just how much she needs to tidy. The picture from opening the cupboard is just what I'm sure we all think about when a room hasn't been tidied for a while!
This is a fantastic book and great to encourage children to organise and tidy their room. The parents tips at the end are a lovely addition to the book as it gives some practical tips to help children. We'd love to read more from this series in the future!
Evening dinner. Cami Kangaroo was thinking about how much fun she was going to have at Savannah’s (cousin) birthday party. Daddy Kangaroo told Cami Kangaroo her room needed cleaned. She had been a collector for a long time. Mommy Kangaroo asked Cami Kangaroo how she was coming along. Savannah’s puppy had to be somewhere in this mess.
What happened when she opened the closet door?
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
A very awesome book cover, great colored pictures & proper font & writing style. A very well written children’s educational story book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational movie, a PP classroom presentation or mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

“Cami Kangaroo Has Too Much Stuff!” written by Stacey C Bauer and Illustrated by Rebecca Sinclair
Cami has a party to go to but needs to clean her room! She has so many treasures and things she loves. She tries to clean up, but she just has so many fun things that distract her. And, then, she remembers something! Oh, no! She needs to find Savannah’s puppy to bring back to her. She looks everywhere and can’t find it. She looks in the closet and a mountain of things fell out when she opened the door! What will she do?
Dad comes in and helps and her brother, Wyatt helps, too. First, they make the bed and put away things by category. Soon, Cami finds the stuffed puppy and her room is clean! She is so happy, she doesn’t like loosing things. She knows keeping her room clean will help her keep track of all of her treasures.
When they are leaving for the party, they realize they all have too many things. They need to clean the garage, too!
“Cami Kangaroo Has Too Much Stuff” is a fun book that covers a great topic-organization! Great story, great illustrations and a gentle nudge on the important lesson of teaching responsibility! Great tips in the back of the book, too, in the Parents Guide! 5 stars from Green Gables Book Reviews“
I read "Cami Kangaroo Has Too Many Sweets" to my niece when it first came out, and she loved it. The vibrant illustrations by Rebecca Sinclair paired with the adorable storytelling of Stacy C. Bauer make this book series a fan favorite in my house.
Cami Kangaroo has one thing on her mind: Her cousin's birthday party. But her parents have something else in store: Cami's bedroom is a mess and she has to clean it before she can go to Savannah's party.
But Cami loves her stuff! She has feathers, shells, toys, buttons, and so many neat things. Will she be able to clean her room in time? Will she find Savannah's puppy? How will she sort through ALL THIS STUFF?
Your kids will love this beautiful story and its important message. Kudos for this being a self-published book of high caliber!
I highly recommend this cute story on the importance of cleaning your room. She is such a clutter bug. The illustrations are terrific in showing the mess that she calls her room. The reasons she gives your kiddos should recognize. Cami must clean her room to go to Savannah's Birthday Party. She goes up to start but sees all her treasures, rocks, feathers, shells, and toys. She likes sorting, collecting and building with them. Will she get it done in time? Will she go to the party? Oh no!! Savannah wanted her stuffed dog back. Where is he? I borrowed this book on a Kindle Unlimited website and so can you.
Cami is enjoying her lunch when her father reminds her that she must clean her room. Cami wants to attend her friend, Savannah’s, birthday party.
She reluctantly goes off to her room. As she begins cleaning, Cami puts all the treasures she finds in her pouch. Soon the room is messier than before. To make matters worse, Cami can’t find the toy she borrowed from her friend. Will Cami ever learn how to organize her room?
Sinclair’s illustrations go a long way to help children visualize the problem of hoarding and organizing. This book is a fun way to teach children the value of cleaning, sorting and organizing their possessions. Recommended especially for elementary school readers.
This is a really cute book that is really great for kids who have a struggle with tidying, cleaning, and knowing the importance of organization. I love how relatable the Cami is, and I'm sure kids would find her relatable as well! The color scheme and texture of the art really makes the book feel homey and familiar. The reason why I can skeptical about giving the book 5 stars is that I wish the word layout was more creative! I feel like children need their eyes to dart everywhere to really be interested in what they are reading and for them to really get everything out of the book that the author really wants.
This charming book helps in explaining responsibility and care.
Cami has to clean her room before going to a party, we see her journey into completing her mission along with her distractions. In this tale are helpful hints that parents can use to encourage their children in organizing and clean up after themselves.
There are other hints beside the one used in the tale. Highly recommended.
This book is so cute. I love the artwork of the Cami series. I especially love the message in this book. I think most kids go through a messy phase, or at least mine have. I like that the author included the dad's mess, too, because kids need to see that parents have some of the same struggles kids do. I also think the real-life mom advice about organizing toys and tips on getting rid of clutter at the end of the book is a great addition to the story.
Cami Has Too Much Stuff is such a fun book. Cami is a clutter bug and her stuff is all over the place. With her room in disarray, Cami can’t find the one item she needs to bring to her cousin’s party. She’s distracted and now running late…. This book is great to show the importance of a clean, decluttered room. We loved the illustrations too. They are fantastic! Our favorite bit was all the stuff Cami kept in her pouch.
Cami is asked to clean her room before heading to cousin Savannah's party when she realizes she has loss one of Savannah's toys. How can Cami solve her problem? Could the toy be in her room? Why is it important to be organized? With cute illustrations and text that most can relate to, this is perfect for those wanting a read-aloud aboiyvthe importance of organization. Kids who like Berenstain Bears stories will like this too.
My daughter enjoyed the story. She really enjoyed the pictures and the shells in the story. She liked that Cami collected tiny things because she collects tiny things. Her room is full of too much stuff as well. Her favorite thing was the narwhal in Camis room.
I enjoyed reading this book! Following the first book in the series, Cami once again; in her cute way, taught us a great lesson- be organized or else you will lose your valuable things. A must read for all children and adults who may need a little nudge to become organized.
Cami learns in a pinch that it’s better to stay organized than to have to clean everything at once. I would’ve liked to see a story show the characters move towards a minimalist lifestyle, rather than just cleaning, but still giving five stars because my daughter and I enjoyed the story and the characters.
This book has a great message and one many kids should think about. When we have too much stuff and live in clutter it’s hard to focus and be successful. Stacy teaches kids to be organized in a fun way with Cami! Love these books - kids can really relate to the characters.
Great story which can be a conversation starter about how and why one should keep a organized room. I loved the illustrations and the helpful tips from other parents on how to keep the clutter down. I also enjoyed seeing Dad getting called out on his tools in the garage. Aren't we all guilty?!
Oh, how we love this book! My daughter loves it because she can relate to sweet Cami and I love it because I know that even kangaroos have to deal with messy kid‘s rooms ;) The story invites parents to talk about organizing things with their kids, it’s amazing how fast my daughter is cleaning up her room every time we read this book!
Such a sweet book! The book focuses more on putting things where they go and keeping things cleaned and organized than “too much”, which I actually like more. It is a great book to encourage kids to take care of what they do have so they can easily find their treasures.
Adults can relate to this book as they read-aloud with their child. May even inspire a binge-watch of Marie Kondo. Super sweet book that gets the whole family involved with helping each other and treating each other with kindness and respect as they work toward being more organized. Fun and lively illustrations. This book is sure to be a great motivator for kids of all ages.
I read this book to my kids ages 2, 4, and 6. They really enjoyed looking for different items in the pictures and trying to find the missing puppy. They loved it when she stuffed things in her pouch. Now if only they were inspired to clean their room.
