Matt Lincoln has lived his entire life on the coast and he wouldn't have it any other way. A lifelong fan of Travis McGee, Magnum PI, and just about anyone who knows their way around a boat and a good cigar, Matt now lives where the sand meets the surf with his beautiful wife, a son who reminds him way too much of himself at that age, and an Irish Setter who he can never seem to tire out. Life is good.

Fun book

This book was a lot of fun to read. It had everything that I like in a book, boats, scuba diving, treasure hunting and at least one pretty girl that had a small but important role in the book.
It was well written and edited. The story flowed nicely from one part to another with nothing pulling you out of the story.
I would recommend this book to anyone over 18, and that's because of violence.

A Great Story

Beginning when a photographer enters a sea cave and discovers and finds a body, the
story is filled with danger and suspense. The characters have realism and unusual people. The writing keeps you engrossing, and entertaining. Ethan begins the main character, but many others keep you met in depth. Subplots keep the reader impossible to put the book down.

An okay story

… but I was bored through most of it. I can’t exactly say why, but it didn’t grab me. It lacked excitement when it shouldn’t have. I guess it was in the storytelling.

Okay

Simple, common plot. Well written. I hate to mention this but there are no cliffs along the Florida coast, not to mention pirate caves.

An okay, but not great, story. An investigation into a murder also leads to a pirate treasure hunt in Florida. Apparently the beginning of a series.

The author, Matt Lincoln, is "a fan of Travis McGee, Magnum PI, and just about anyone who knows their way around a boat and a good cigar." It shows here but while I remember the Travis McGee books as remarkably laid back and easygoing, retired Special Agent Noah/Ethan Marsden is a more laconic and violent character.
"Rolling Thunder" gets off to a great start - I just hope Matt Lincoln resists the temptation to start all the books in the series using the same technique as it is a one-trick pony.
There's absolutely nothing new in the book and the characters are very one-dimensional but I have expectations that, as the series continues, Matt Lincoln will grow into it.
Overall it moves at a fast pace, the plot is strictly linear, and the selection of deadly hardware is impressive.
There are a couple of unbelievable things presented as fact - in particular finding the undisturbed centuries old skeleton in the coastal cave, and the connection between the skeleton and Noah
I'll make my mind up after a book or two more.
P.S. During the book Noah becomes Ethan and it is never explained - colour me confused!

good book!

I picked up this book, one I picked up because I didn’t any others I wanted to read.. I started it, found it was pretty interesting but I wasn’t sure I’d continue reading. Well, I stayed up until 2:00 AM until I finished it. I loved the characters, found I wanted to take them home for dinner and a movie. The book was so REAL that I felt I was there with them.

I think that Mr. Lincoln is a very good author, and I will definitely look forward to more of his books. I just realized that he had a taste of Clive Cussler, whom I much admire. Keep writing, Matt .i know you’ll have a great following.

I saw this book and the title and cover called to me. I pulled it up on Amazon and started reading the "Look Inside". I realized I needed to decide if I was going to read this book immediately or after I finished the one I was currently reading. Since I have an embarrassing number of books in my reading queue, that says a lot.
I enjoyed this story and quickly identified with some of the characters. They seemed like people I have known.
I am delighted this is a series and I look forward to many more great adventures with Ethan and associates. Thanks for a great ride, Matt.

This book kept me turning the pages.

This book has a very good primary and secondary plot. It kept me engrossed through the whole book. I like the way the author starts at the end and the. Takes you through how that end was reached. I also like the fact that there was not a lot of gratuitous sex. You know it was happening but not the details. I like for some things to be left to the imagination. I am looking forward to reading book two. I would definitely recommend this book for those who like a good suspense story.

Justice Prevails

This is the first novel I've read by Matt Lincoln.
WOW! A page-turner has everything: an action told by the main character in retrospect.

He is telling the story to a group of annoying 20-somethings
In his own bar

It's his story of his federal law enforcement career in taking down the biggest gang leader who is looking for a shipwreck that went down with heroin.
Ethan had always wanted to have the Black Mambos.

A sprinkle of romance.

I would recommend this as appropriate for readers over 18.

Wow! Just another great read from kindle ulimited.

I'm pretty blown away at this moment. Having felt little lost after finishing the latest Pendergast novel, I grabbed Rolling Thunder from suggested reads. I rarely write reviews! This book was plain awsome! Cant wait to read the next book. The ONLY flaws found in the entire read were some minor editing issues ,mostly missing words. For me, 5 star page Turner!

Good Start to a Series

I could have been picky and given fewer stars. Little things like dialog needs work, who proofread this, etc. But then I realized that I had begun to smile corny (at times) dialog and all. But I kept smiling and enjoying.

By the end I appreciated the principle characters, the plot and the ending that isn't really the end.

Nice work Matt - I look forward to following more adventures!

Great read!!

Love all your books. Just one small note that I will say with a smile….. Flipper is a dolphin- fins are for swimming. Any diver - military or not would not call them flippers. Divers all refer to our fins as fins. ;) Please keep writing your wonderful worlds and characters lives draw us in!!

Fast, edge-of-the-seat action, and Bermuda gangs with hit men in the States.

Great characters, excellent police skills, and challenging tightly interwoven crimes deliver danger from a ruthless gang using murder to solve any inconvenience. Outstanding story telling with the promise of an intriguing series. Well worth the time.

This is the first book I've read by Matt Lincoln and I'm happy to say it was an enjoyable experience. The characters are likeable, tough, relentless and intelligent, the action is fast, and the book hard to put down. I rate this one 5 stars and am looking forward to reading the next in the series.

lots of action - but that’s about all

Non stop action and rollicking good fun. Easy to read.

On the negative side, too many spoilers, too early. The story just quit for a promise of another story another day. Perhaps it would have been better not to have included the spoilers at the beginning.

Fun read, kept me wanting more.

Modern-day police, 1670's pirates,
,and the hero gets the girl. Matt has put together a great cast of characters.
Looking forward to the next book.

Move Over Miami Vice

Actually, I really got into the style and the story after the 1st chapter. Just enough realistic action to be believable, just enough humor to make both our heroes guys who hang at the corner bar! Looking forward to the next installment in the series...

A readable story

I am of the belief that stories should reflect actuality and this one was a bit above that. The characterization was a little loose, and it just lacked the believability.

Good story

I enjoyed reading this book, once I got past trying to figure out where there were cliffs and tidal caves in Miami lol. But the story was fast paced and had me rooting for the good guys.
Thanks

Great first book

I loved the twist in the writing. While the book started slower than I would like, soon enough I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to read more in the series.

"Loved Reading This Well-Written Suspense"

This is a great story and the first book I've read by this author. It's a real page-turner of action and adventures I never expected. Highly enjoyed it and will be looking forward to reading book 2.

Well done!

A good read! Use of the central character as narrator raises this series above others in the genre. I applaud the creativity of finding a different way to structure the story. The opening scene hooked me. Looking forward to the next and the next and on ...

Really enjoyed this story. Great writing, easy to read. Bring on the 2nd book! I love Ethan's character and his relationship with Holm and Tessa. Something a little different from what I've read in awhile. Not just a classic crime novel.
