When he sold that business, he was on the way to living the life of his dreams. He wants to show you how to plan ahead so you can do the same with your dental practice.
This strategy-and-tactics field manual shows future dental entrepreneurs how to take the right steps so you can carve out successful enterprises over the long term. This valuable book will take you from being an aspiring dental entrepreneur with a sole proprietorship to business ownership--and finally, to a lucrative exit to the life of your dreams.
Major topics in the book include: • Defining the dental market and learning how to take advantage of opportunities in it • Breaking down the dental niche strategy • Choosing a location (markets, demographics, and other practical considerations • Marketing and messaging • Infrastructure (staffing, processes and procedures, systems) • Building a team (becoming the boss, hiring dentists, managers, and other key players) • Growth and expansion and getting ready to exit
I really enjoyed the book. It sounded like a conversation with the author and felt very honest. Although a lot of the stuff are (for now ) not applicable to orthodontics in Bulgaria and our small market it was very interesting to see how things are done in the USA and think about the future. I especially enjoyed the personal stories - like his meeting with Tony Robbins and the mistake he made with the sign. The second thing a lot of people would not have shared and I think that a lot of big business owners have stories if not like that then pretty similar. I listened to the audiobook but I think that if I ever decide to grow my business I would reread it again and highlight. There was a lot of advice and some of it I learned the hard way… To other advice. I noticed that I reacted critically- which was also interesting to me because it is an invitation to explore my limiting beliefs regarding business. Anyway the journey of more experienced dentists is always interesting to me. Cheers to the dr ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
I received The Entrepreneur Dentist: How to Exit Your Dental Business Rich through a Goodreads Giveaway.
I am not a dentist, nor am I interested in joining the dentistry business. I entered the giveaway for The Entrepreneur Dentist because I thought perhaps the information in the book could carry over into all fields of entrepreneurship, and I was right. By reading this book I learned a lot of fascinating information that can carry over into other businesses I know and understand. I could see this book being quite useful for anyone looking to start a business, not just dentists. There is plenty of useful information in this book such as marketing, office presentation, and business reputation. This is all things that can carry over into any business. All in all, I enjoyed the read, and can't wait to use what I've learned.
Excellent, excellent, excellent! BUT not for every Dentist
This book tops the many books describing how to be an entrepreneur and grow your business. Dr. Lanier is coherent, relevant, and organized. He keeps his autobiography concise, and uses it as a tool to validate his motivation, but never to evoke emotion. And why should he? He makes it abundantly clear that he is a huge success in nearly all areas of life (loves his family, friends, and has his health).
This text covers every possible subject related to building a dentistry business. There are references, a thorough index, and liberal practical applications. I really enjoyed that this text, unlike many of the others, was not filled with lengthy anecdotes or fluff to make a pamphlet into a book. This information is the real deal. This is professional BUSINESS information at its best.
One caveat for the non-entrepreneur: you might memorize this whole text and never build more than one practice. This is the time to remember that despite all the training, information, and experience, and no matter how much effort, some individuals cannot do what others do. Cannot. This is not a failing. And they should not think they should do what Dr. Lanier has accomplished.
In many ways this text is a humble and factual testament to the skills, talent, and hard work of one man. And some may follow his clear and detailed recipe for success and become successful too. That is what this book offers. Not everyone can paint like Bob Ross even after years of taking the course; or run a real estate empire, etc. despite detailed instructions. Well done, you, Dr. Lanier!
I won this as a “GoodReads First Reads” giveaway. I don’t exactly remember signing up for this one, but, in the end, I’m glad to have read it. While he speaks of building his dental practice and making it into a lucrative investment, you can swap the word dentist for any path you wish, and this book will act as a guide in a successful business model.
The average person and senior citizen can't even afford dental care now in the US, and you want dentists to gobble up more money? A doctor's mission should be to help people be healthy and not in pain, not to be a multimillionaire. This is what's wrong with the world.
The Entrepreneur Dentist: How to Exit Your Dental Business Rich by Jerry Lanier is not only for dentists. I find much of the material can be used in other business. This is well written and easy to understand.
Good book. Not mind-blowing information or steps. The advice he gives is pretty decent. For example, focus on a particular part of dentistry and become the best in that instead of being a jack of all trades and a master of none. Have a script that your staff follows. And have the end goal in mind.
