I love anything that includes the Mesakkah blue aliens

Although the big blue aliens find the small human women strange, apparently they cannot stay away from them.

It does not matter:
-if they live in an ice planet like primitive neanderthals
-if they have four hands instead of two
-if they are pirates or civilised farmers or
-if they are posh aliens that rule the universe...

...All of them find human women fascinating and they can not stop wiggling their blue tail when they see them.

The hero in this book does not even hesitate dismissing his high status in order to marry his human sweetheart.

The nobleman and the slave!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💙💚🖤
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘
World building: 🪐🪐🪐🪐
Character development: 🤖🙄👽

The heroine: Milly - she was abducted and bought by a wealthy woman and brought to the Mesakkah home world in order to be the woman’s gift to a wealthy and cruel alien.

The Hero: Varrik va’Rin - he is a Lord and head of house va’rin, a VIP on his planet Kes, and one of the biggest players in society. He is used to getting his way and when he sees Milly, he wants her. He attends a month long party at another of the important houses.

The Story: Lady Draneeran is hosting the party and Varrik assumes she will end up proposing a marriage alliance between their two houses. He plans to entertain the offer in order to keep the wealth and standing his name garners. He is wealthy and stuffy, the kind of alien that won’t allow others to use his name because he is the highest ranking noble at the party.

This was a very short novella, though this is the one in the series I wanted to read most after reading the blurb, but was a bit disappointed. I didn’t really like how stiff and snobbish Varrik was. Though I liked the fact that he treated Milly like a valuable person from the start even though she is a human, who his kind thinks of as nothing more than a slave or an animal.

Super short and sweet novella

This was an enjoyable, no angst, lightly steamy prequel novella to the Risdaverse.

I thought Milly was cute and funny and I’m glad she got everything she could have wanted and more considering she was human trafficked and sold into slavery 😅.

I’ve only read Ruby Dixon’s IPB series and this felt very similar, so let’s see where it will take me. Can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series.

Just got to prepare myself for the onslaught of kef’s instead of fuck’s. I somehow forgot about that. 😮‍💨

It's really sweet how caring and protective Varrik is of Milly. I just love that about him. 🥺

I really love her as well; she's just so nice, even to those aliens who didn't think much of her. I think it requires a lot of effort to be kind to those who may not seem deserving of it. But Milly did it so effortlessly; she's just too great for that world. 🤗

Anyway, it's just so wonderful that they found each other and are such a great match. They truly deserve each other. 🥰

If I was being super honest I'm being pretty generous with my ratings :/ I might need to add a note in my bio that declares that my novella ratings cannot be compared to novel ratings.

Big bored as hell aristocratic blue dude looks at human slave intended to "serve" another and snags her for himself and treats her with respect after initially being like lol, whutt am I doing here with this small creature. He's nice, recognises from the get-go that she's an intelligent being so he never treats her as less-than, he's also lonely and beyond bored with his life. He actually talks to her after years of being disinterested in having conversations with anyone but being forced to with all those pointless aristocrats.. but there are almost no conversations on page to intrigue, entertain and melt the reader. He's an alien you'll be fine dating your daughter.
BUT,
The story was super basic, we all know things will turn out alright for the characters, and I'm happy these two losers (MCs, and I call them losers with love but also frustration because there's literally nothing much to them) are happy but I hardly developed any connection or attachment to them - and how could I? There's hardly any meat to some of these stories ☹️ Everyone is interchangeable, like they're just changing costumes in most books. Sometimes a human is pale or brown or dark, has black hair, brown hair, red hair or blond hair. Every single guy is blue (not complaining), has horns that are either taller or shorter than another guy's (again not complaining) and has a tail and fangs (never complaining) but WHO ARE THEY REALLY. What's different about each one? Their names. That's it ☹️

Some of these novellas really, desperately need to be better fleshed out, add conversations for the love of all that's holy and blue! I know Ruby can write a killer novella (that half orc bride one was SO good - I'm pressing a big fucking recommend button for that one and pointing at you) but some of these ice planet/risdaverse ones feel like they've been churned out of a teeny soulless book making factory.

Plus the whole human trafficking angle is always hard for me to brush aside.. so I spend a minute or two shuddering about all the horrid, stomach churning what-ifs in the middle of a story that hardly has anything to hold on to. Meh. Pooh. Bllff.

Having previously read the first four of Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarian's series I wasn't totally surprised or either disappointed in any way by this sweet and sexy Alien/Human romantic novella. Yummy!!!!

**This author writes these wonderful and crazy off-world romances that are an absolute "hoot" and such addictive reading . If this is your first read by her and you enjoy it as much as I did then I totally recommend the above series. Blue aliens with tails, its a win-win!!! **

This showed up in Ruby's Facebook feeds and I got curious. I love Ruby's writing and thankful to her for giving us amazing blue barbarian alien guys, but this one fell short - in length and in feelings.

Slightly glorified stockholm syndrome never hurts in such cases but there isn't anything worth gushing over...

Not my favorite in the series due to the power dynamics, but it's inspired by Pretty Woman so that's sort of baked into the premise. An enslaved human woman is "saved" by a noble alien from a worse alien and falls for him while belonging to him. The actual writing is good and I like the characters, but the setup wasn't my favorite.

Pretty human de Ruby Dixon libro 4 Serie multiautor Rags of riches

Only Ruby Dixon could pull off something so brilliant.

We have a high status Mesakkah who is tired of attending lavish parties for fun. While trying to be swooned by a lady, he sees a human slave and must have her for himself.

Also leave it to Ruby to show me that I can handle insta-love out of the fated mates trope. All the books that I have read in the Risdaverse series are pretty insta-lovey but I have adored them all. Everybody should know by now that I think Ruby can do no wrong. #sorrynotsorry

Varrick va'Rin is a high-ranking nobleman bored with his life. He's tired of the parties, of the sycophants, of the women vying to be his mate. And then he does the unthinkable: something so deviant, so disgusting he risks losing his reputation and ranking in society. He falls in love with an alien from a D Class planet, a human. A pretty human with a sassy mouth and whole of lot spunk. Milly.

Pretty Human is a rags to riches story inspired by the movie Pretty Woman. I loved, loved, loved this novella. It was exactly what I needed at the time: short, sweet, and light.

"Pretty Human" is the story of Milly and Varrik.

Set in a dystopic alien world, our H is a rich noble bored with his life and the snooty people around him. Things take a turn when sees a human slave and decides he wants her!

Soon the h teaches him not only to love, but also rebel against the monotony he has been stuck in.

Sexy, interesting and short.

This is a short novella (under 60 pages) that I believe is the first human/mesakkah pairing and the set up in Risda paving the way for future couples.

The blurb sets this up, Lord va’Rin is the most notable/powerful of his society. (top of the hierarchy) He attends a party and is captivated by Milly, a human.

Bottom Line- This was just ok. There’s nothing to it… no real plot… no drama… no obstacles… no action… nothing. The h felt really teenager-y with her “I’m a funny-girl” shtick. It’s super short though, so it was over before I got super bored, but I would’ve 2⭐’ed had it been much longer.

These are cute quick reads. This was a sweet romance. Liked it. Very fast read. Took me only about a half hour. Recommend!

Quotes & Faves:

“If anyone tries to take you from me,” he begins, voice all growly with possessiveness, and it sends another shiver through me.

“I am very sure,” I tell her, releasing one hand to lightly caress her cheek. “I have wanted nothing but you since the moment I first laid eyes on you. Retiring to the outer rim with you in my arms for the rest of my days sounds like a dream. I can imagine no place I’d rather be.”

“Lady dra’Niiron was showing off the exotic “toy” she got for another lord, but I took one look at you and lost my heart. I had to have you. Wanted to see your smile, to hear your laughter, to breathe in your scent from the first moment I saw you. I didn’t care that she thought I was embarrassing myself or that you were another species. All I wanted was you.” I move to her side and cup her delicate face in my hands. “And now no one can ever take you from me.”

“You are perfect,” I tell her, wanting to remember this sight forever. “More than that, you are my perfect.”

description

This was...fine. It's a little bit of fluffy cotton candy, sweet, quick to read and once it's done, easy to forget. There's no real tension, it's just...there. Yeah, this is more for fans of the Planet Barbarians/messakah big blue aliens, but don't want to devote major brainspace to a full story. Otherwise, it's easy to skip.

Pretty Human is a super short novella part of Ruby Dixon’s Risdaverse series and I’m just really loving this series and having the best time!

This is Varrik and Milly’s story! This one was interesting because we see some noble families at play on Homeworld. Varrik is lord to an ancient noble house and honestly just over his high-born life with the politics, other noble families, estates, and society parties. At a party someone is trying to impress him and shows him a secret “pet”, a human woman. Varrik spots her through the window and instantly knows he wants her and she is his mate. He whisks Milly away that night and it’s their story from there!

This is just a super short (like 60 pages) novella and it was fun seeing him be super possessive and her wanting to bring him joy and make him loosen up.

I have read a few of Ms Dixon’s books previously and I’m never quite sure if I like the alien romances but hand on my heart I really did enjoy this quick little gem.

Varrick is a nobleman of the highest order, recently he is dis-satisfied with the life that he is leading and wants some excitement. Arriving for a month long engagement he is shown a gift not meant for him a pretty human, immediately he demands her to be his aware of the looks and disapproval he is courting by taking her for himself he is drawn in a way that he has never experienced before. Can he really be prepared to lose his reputation and does he even care?

Milly has heard and seen the human slave stories and is prepared for what is about to happen but is shocked when she meets Varrick Va’Rin, the way he behaves with her is unheard of and before long she is wanting him in a way that she doesn’t understand. Could they really have a chance of a happy ever after or is being with her going to destroy the being she has grown to love?

This was a short, light and entertaining read that I can say I would definitely read again.

I want her.

Ahhhhh!!!! Lord Varrik va’Rin and Millie’s story!!! It was short and sweet. Definitely followed the whole mate trope and was a little too short for my taste but overall good. It was very cute to see how they met and how easy it was for him to leave everything behind for her. When you have that much money there really is not limit.

And another from rags to riches novella.

I love Ruby and her weird aliens and this was quite entertaining.

... but I also wished it was made into a longer book so we could hear more about the kidnapping and maybe heroines homesick feelings? What if we add some dangerous elements? Yup... It would be a 5 star read then.

I reread this this week because I want to get caught up on Risdaverse, and honestly, I think it’s a testament to how well RD can flesh out a story in just a few pages. It’s short, sweet, and a really good break in between 500 page books. I swear I could read a full length novel about Milly and Varrick!
