The Trouble With Love

Rate this book
Things on my wishlist:

1. Start a new, awesome job
2. Create the perfect dating app
3. Stop dating douchebags

Things that actually happen:

1. Got a job in my dream tech company
2. Created a workplace dating app for said company
3. Was matched with Bennett, who happens to own the company and is also my brother’s best friend

They say when it rains, it pours, but this is some serious BS. It doesn’t help that Bennett was the man I had my last one night stand with. It definitely doesn’t help that he seems to want me just as much as I want him. The issue is, he won’t do anything about it, but then we’re forced to attend a tech conference in Vegas and I think it may just be what I need to turn this thing around.

New goal: get my brother’s best friend out of my system by all means necessary.

3.5 cupid, second chance, sweet stars!

As soon as I start this book, I was afraid it was forbidden office romance and Bennett is like a douchebag character from Beautiful Bastard. But thanks the author’s well developed characterization, this Bennett is sweeter, more romantic, passionate and also sexy as hell, knows what he wants and does whatever it takes to gain our heroine, Morgan’s heart. So let’s give our hero full five stars ( God, I feel like I’m evaluating my last Uber driver 😃)

I give five stars of their passion, chemistry and steamy somewhat emotional, compassionate sex scenes. They were good couple and they’re great together!

But Morgan’s lack of self confidence and her exaggerated paranoid attitudes, her insecurities about Bennett’s crazy ex and trying to sabotage her relationship after listening her, blaming Bennett as a cheater ( come on, this could be considered as cheating! ) made me frustrated. At some parts, I wanted to shake and warn her put more trust to herself and the others! I can understand she hurt a lot from her cheating ex fiancé and her issues with addict, boyfriend stealer mother but she’s beautiful, smart, young and she needs to move on and let bygones be bygones!

And the other irritating thing was the ex wife! She was like a villain escaped from telenovelas, appears from the happiest moments of our couple, trying to ruin their lives. I still didn’t get her motives. Because she doesn’t make any move to get her ex back. She just calls and threats his assistants just like a wicked woman who doesn’t tolerate anyone’s happiness. Her only purpose seems for putting an obstacle between Morgan and Bennett.

As a summary, it was fast paced, enjoyable, hot, sexy, sweet reading. It was good to see cameos of Nathaniel and Presley from Consequence of Falling.
At least it didn’t disappoint me like most romances I’ve read lately!

His slow spreading smile is trouble. As a matter of fact, everything about this man says trouble with a capital T.

The Trouble with Love was sweet, sexy, and such a fun read! Who doesn’t love a good brother’s best friend book/work place romance. This one really hit the spot.

Morgan and Bennett meet and spend one glorious night together. Both are going through some things in their life, and it’s just a one-night stand, but it’s memorable. Even a year later… when they get introduced for real. Bennett just happens to be Morgan’s brother’s best friend from college and her new bosses son. Things just got a little more complicated…

Bennett is definitely trouble, but the best kind. And Morgan is a bit of a cupid. She hasn’t been in a relationship since she got burned badly, but she’s working on a new kind of dating app and loves to set people up. The more time these two spend together, the more they start to fall. But due to their relationship, they keep things quiet.
"Careful, Trouble. I may start thinking you believe in love after all."
"Careful, Cupid. You may be the one I end up falling hard for after all the smack I talked.”

The banter between these two was everything! I loved watching them interact with each other. They had such great chemistry and even though they tried to remain just friends for a long while, it was obvious the chemistry couldn’t be denied.

Bennett was the best. He was kind, loyal, and funny. Morgan was so strong and even though her past was a bit of a mess, she found the strength to move on and overcome it. I loved this couple to pieces. If you’re looking for a brothers best friend romance that has just enough emotion but is a true feel good read, pick this one up. It was a win for me!!

The Trouble with Love is one of those books that kept a smile on my face the entire time I was reading. I loved the relationship between Morgan and Bennett and I thought they were just adorable together. I can't even say they had the easiest time getting together, but the journey was so sweet that I enjoyed every moment, even the angsty ones.

I liked that the book kept a really lighthearted type of feeling for the most part, but I did want a little more about Morgan's past. It was brought up, not a lot, but often enough that it made me want to dig a little deeper and I wish we had gotten too. Especially when some things were mentioned but not in detailed and it made me curious to know what exactly had happened.

Overall, I will certainly recommend this book to anyone that's looking for a sweet romance between two very fun characters. Bennett will have you swooning and Morgan will have you giving a round of applause for her kickass personality.

5 Trouble CROWNS

I am such a huge fan of Claire's work. She can write suspense, emotional, light and fun, and The Trouble with fun is the perfect sexy and entertaining romance. I am so in love with these two! Their chemistry is INSANE!! I read this book with a huge smile on my face.

The chemistry and banter between these two is what really sealed the deal for me when it comes to how much I enjoyed this book. Bennett is swoonworthy to the max. There wasn't a single moment during this book that I wasn't salivating over him. I also enjoyed Morgan. I thought she was intelligent and driven, and I loved that she had a job in a very male dominated feel. I just felt connected to her as a character.

This story is very light and fun. There are conflicts, but those are easily resolved and aren't very complex. They are, however, very true to the characters and their past. It isn't a story that will move mountains, make you re-examine your life, have huge revelations. It is a story to entertain, to escape life, to get lost in the romance of it all, and I couldn't have loved these two or their story more.

The Trouble with Love is completely and totally entertainment gold. I devoured every single yummy moment.

4.5-5 ⭐'s

I love Claire Contreras' writing and I loved this book even though I didn't love every little thing.

The story starts a year prior when Bennett and Morgan meet in a bar and have a one night stand. Zoom forward and Morgan is interviewing with Bennett's father for a job in his company. This is where they both realized who the other is..Morgan giving her middle name as her name when they first met and Bennett being Morgan's brother's best friend. It's just a tad complicated.

What's not complicated is their feelings...even though they both think they are in the beginning.

Morgan makes apps and she's currently working on a dating app. She's a believer in building a strong foundation first...being friends, sharing common interests, etc. She was cheated on so that is a big no-no for her.

Bennett was cheated on as well and he's being very angry so he's surprised by wanting to have a relationship with Morgan. He's also very aware that her brother, Devon, wouldn't take it very well.

It's not hard to figure out what happens. There's a lot of drama and some miscommunication - or no communication. They both do what they do best.

I was pretty grossed out about Morgan's Mom...ugh! Not really sure that could be forgivable but I have to give Morgan kudos. Also, I loved her brother, Devon. How he handled things was amazing. Bennett's parents were pretty amazing too.

I enjoyed how Bennett and Morgan worked on what they wanted and what was best for them.

Super cute

This was a super cute and rather fast read/listen. The audiobook is fantastic by the way. Overall the story was super cute and engaging. I loved the hero Bennett more than I loved the heroine. I felt it was missing something but overall this was a pretty solid book. Claire us a fantastic author and I love her work.

DNF at 41%

It's no secret that I'm a serial DNFer. I mark books as DNF even if I just read a few pages and realize that I'm not in the mood for that kind of book. Once marked as DNF I very rarely try it again at a later time.

Now with this book, I really tried and when I say I tried I mean I read until 40% which is a lot for me. After 10% I could already feel that this book wasn't for me. But because I kindly received an ARC from the author I forced myself to continue reading. I wanted to like this book so much but it just didn't work for me.

Morgan just got hired by her dream company.

But her new boss - or rather the junior boss - is none other than her (unforgettable) one-night stand from a year ago!

Bennett.

Plus - he's also her brother Devon's best buddy from College!

Can Morgan and Bennett resist being this close to each other every day? And will Dev kill his best friend when he finds out what happened between them???

LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN .... ☺

What will happen to Morgan & Bennett?
Will there be a HEA?

That was cute!

A really sweet and adorable office/tech/boss romance.

I liked reading it!

I really liked it - even though it might sound like I didn't, once you've read my whole review. LOL☺

There was a bit of funny, a bit of sexy, a bit of excitement.

It wasn't anything new or mega über exciting - but we still love and read these kinds of stories!

We never really got very deep into the past and the bad stuff - it could've been done a bit better. I wanted more detail too. We never find out in which city we are - but they talk about THE CITY constantly. (Edit: Back now after I'm done with the book, Bronx and Queens was indeed mentioned around the 60% mark - kinda wrongly because in one line they said you're going to the Bronx with that Red Sox cap? And shortly after they were in Queens!) Also about Bennett's age - no idea how old he is - but that he's older than her gets mentioned a million times!

Then, just like in the last book there were too many people in here again. Which is not good for my bookalzheimers! I hate it when books have people in common but the author doesn't declare them as a series or as connected. I really hate that. Presley and Nathaniel from the last book The Consequence of Falling were in here as best friend and business person. I didn't recognize them, but they were in here so often and talked about so much, that I had to go back and read my review for the last book and bam there they were! Ugh. Why put all those people in all your books when you don't want to write a series? Not nice! I mean. Really. < which is another thing I kinda hated about this story. I felt like I was reading about 16 year old school girls with how often a sentence started with I mean!

Another tiny little thing. But that's just my problem. I love the couple on the cover - he's reallly my type of guy! Butttt - the colors don't work for me at all. I hate orangy colors. And with that orange-red at the bottom it looks a bit like a paranormal story with hell and demons and whatnot!

OK - done now with my rant! I really enjoyed reading it. It was a sweet story.
Bennett was a really great guy!
And I liked that Morgan was not the poor, virginal, innocent assistant of the boss - she's her own tech genius! Even though I kinda hated her a bit - especially once the always-has-to-happen-in-a-romance lie/misunderstanding/fight happens towards the end. I wanted to stop reading there for minute :/

But please don't be scared now after reading my ranty review - read the book - it's a really cute romance!

THE TROUBLE WITH LOVE was an adorable office/tech/boss/brother's best friend love story! ☺ Run to your nearest amazon for your own BENNETT - this one is MINE!!!

This was lovely - but also kind of forgettable. Morgan is starting her dream job at a company she has always wanted to work at - but her boss' son is not only her brother's best friend but her one night stand from a year ago. Bennett is relatively newly divorced and really does not believe in love any more - and he thinks that his best friend's younger sister is seriously off-limits for him. Obviously this is not how it works out. I enjoyed how clever and driven Morgan is and I did like how very nice these two are to each other. I am not the biggest fan of the "super evil ex-wife" trope though and as such could not really warm to the book as a whole.

I knew without a doubt that I would love this book because Claire Contreras is that good and I was right! This was amazing.

I'm immediately sucked in to the world she creates. I fall in love with the characters "Bennett and Morgan" and for this love I feel their pain. My heart twitches when they smile.

This was such a fun, cute, charming, sexy read. I definitely found myself laughing out loud and even shaking my head with some of the banter 😂 .

Morgan being the best friends little sister and working in the same building as Bennett gave room for some hard felt intense chemistry. I LOVED this. I swoon over sneaky looks and touches.

Goshhhh, total snooze fest!

This book was definitely not for me. I hated the heroine. She was a little all over the freaking place. Heroine was a little over dramatic and overly jealous. I skimmed sooooooo much because seriously it was boring and kinda blah. And im sorry but did I read that she let a guy rape her when she was 14? Uhmmm what?? And it wasnt mentioned ever again? What? Did I read that right?

Sorry Claire Contreras, I usually love her books but this was a hell naw for me. I honestly dont see why all the 4 and 5 star reviews 😬 #sorrynotsorry

•4,3/5 😍

I read a book in which I smiled while reading and I adore the characters 😍
I love all the books by Claire. The Trouble With Love was one of them.
It was a natural love written without intrigues, violent toxic loves and quarrels.
It didn't tire me at all while reading.
I wasn’t bored and even reread the quotes after I finished.
Claire manages to write heart-touching, not unusual but unique loves. Once again I admired Claire. It was great to read about Bennet and Morgan's love that started in a bar and then ended in an app. You must read!

👩🏻‍💻 “I love you, Morgan Elizabeth,” Bennett says against my head.
“I love you.” I look up at him. “You’re my favorite match.”
“Your only match.”

Morgan is passionate about building new and innovative apps. It has been her dream to work for Seven, a tech company which has a firm reputation of being at the cutting edge. After landing her dream job she is surprised to discover that the owner, Bennett, is in fact the guy she had an unforgettable one night stand with a year ago, except his name was ‘Ben.’ To add another layer to this complicated conundrum, he is also her brother’s best friend. Yup, awkward…

‘I've been entirely bare in front of men in the past and haven’t felt this exposed. It's the way he looks at me, like he’s trying to read into me, not just stare at my body.’

Bennett is thrilled to see ‘Elizabeth’ again but it’s short lived when he realises who she is to him. Well, shit… He can be professional about this though. She is hugely talented and the perfect person to add to their incredible team at Seven. He just needs to stay away from her, can’t be that hard right?

Morgan pitches a workplace dating app she has been developing and is thrilled when she is given the go ahead to trial it among the single employees at work. She wonders who she will match with, there are definitely promising options among the single guys in her office. The thought of Morgan matching with anyone makes Bennett insanely jealous, in fact any guy that shows interest in her gets him feeling hot under his well pressed collar.

When Bennett insists that Morgan accompanies him on a business trip away, everything changes. The lust between reaches its breaking point and it feels so damn right to give into what they both want. Getting this feeling out their system will fix everything and they can reset themselves as just friends again right?

‘When I press my lips against hers and feel her sigh against me, I’m sure this is the kind of happiness people spend their lives chasing.’

This is a classic forbidden romance trope where the guy falls for his best friend’s younger sister. Very easy to read and low angst.

I don't whether to like or love this story... There were parts that I enjoyed but overall, 'I am still confused with what I read'. The app building thing and the idea isn't sitting well for me.

Plus, way too much cheesy dramas. I think it's about authors moved away from this kind of writing ideas. For crying out loud, is this only we have in a different environment? Girls meets boy, have fun, developed feelings, drama comes in, path back, HEA!!!!

Phew! Something is wrong with the whole romance writers then....

Overall, it was a waste of my time. At 48% I started skimming.

A feel-good, lighthearted brother’s best friend romance that will put a smile on your face. Claire always has the best banter between her characters and Bennett and Morgan were so much fun to read about. Bennett had my heart from the one-night stand and I knew he would be different for this hard to trust girl. Sometimes we make mistakes and while I understood Morgan’s distrust, I knew in my heart that Bennett was the perfect guy for her. ❤️

This is not your typical workplace romance story . . .
If you are looking for an asshole, micromanaging Alpha boss, think again.
Hello, this is Claire Contreras we are talking about.
She writes about Alphas you fall in love with, not hate.

What's most intriguing about this story is that the H and h have sexual relations early on and are actually adults about it when reuniting. They don't give each other the cold shoulder or even pretend it didn't happen. In fact, it appears both are struggling to keep it from happening again. And again. And again. LOL. It is good this company, owned by the H, Bennett Cruz, doesn't have a no fraternization policy.

The heroine, Morgan Tucker, has a good head on her shoulders, which is surprising given her upbringing with some seriously bad parenting. Nevertheless, she has moved on to be quite the savvy app developer. Despite her young age, she has a great vision and is a hard worker to boot.

Because of all of the above, it was easy to like both the H and h. On top of that, I thought they were a great match for each other. And Morgan's dating app agrees.

This was a fun and sexy read, with lots of sweet moments along the way. There is some angst thrown in to keep the reader on their toes. While I didn't necessarily agree with how Morgan jumped to conclusions, things sort themselves out fairly quickly, so you won't pull your hair out.

If you are looking for a story with characters you want to cheer for, check this one out!

Sleeze alert! DNF, by around 30% I was over this book. It starts off with the guy getting cheated on by his wife. Then he goes out and has a one night stand. He gets a divorce and a year later he meet up with his one-night stand when she starts working for his daddy’s company. When she meets up with him again he brings a date to a friend meetup and proceeds to make out with her and tell her that although he is with the other girl he wishes it was her but it can’t be .... creep.

Then this girl comes up with an app to help singles at work meet the love of their life, sounds like something you’d want to encourage in the workplace. No drama there, but okay let’s go with this. From the minute the app is launched it’s OBVIOUS they got paired up together although she seems to not know that the swarmy douche with a bad attitude and too cool for this app is him even though it mirrors his personality. His name is OWL on the app and hers is ROBIN. OWL starts off saying the bird names are lame, that he skipped reading the rules for using the app, and has an all round attitude of thinking he is too good for it but is still on it .... dumb .... get off then, but whatever. Going on it just gets worse.

This girl is also hired as his assistant, as well as being the at-work dating app creator, and as his assistant she finds it odd that he wants her to book his flight and hotel ... right because someone booked as an assistant would question that logic. Dumb.

Then through the at-work dating app they start sharing “secrets” since they are paired up together and his secret was that he cheated on an ex. At that point she was a dumbass for not saying “welp, nice talking to ya.” Delete. But she’s a nice girl and friend-zones him 😒. Then they talk a bit and she opens up to admitting she has a crush on her boss while she is listening to her boss talk to another woman in her hotel room next to his ... dumbass...

After skimming this crap read to 30% I couldn’t do it anymore, it’s really bad. You can get the whole story by reading a few lines each page. Perfect sweet girl desperately seeking big broody scorned bad boy owner of the company. SKIP! If you want something delicious and original, go read a book by Jewel E Ann, Aly Martinez, Mariana Zapata ...

Morgan is starting her new job at an ultra-successful tech company and couldn’t be more excited to continue working on creating apps. Morgan’s older brother’s best friend happens to be the boss’s son and helped get her foot in the door. Except when she meets Bennett, Morgan realizes he’s not only her brother’s best friend, her new boss, but also the man she met in a bar a year earlier. The man who went by “Ben.” The man she shared one unforgettable night with. And now her new job just became complicated out of nowhere.

When Morgan tests out a new workplace app at her new job, she throws caution to the wind and decides to find a match. She instantly connects with someone, but little does Morgan know that Bennett is her anonymous dating app match. And all the while, Bennett is trying to win back her affections. But the two of them parted ways after their hookup a year ago for a reason, so who’s to say they won’t crash and burn a second time around.

The Trouble with Love by Claire Contreras is a brother’s best friend, office and second chance romance all mixed into one. I liked how much Morgan’s friends and family were incorporated into the story and it helped me connect more. I felt the progression of Morgan and Bennett’s relationship was a little off, but that could be due to the overall pacing. I love all the tropes in this one, so I’d recommend giving it a read. 3.5/5 stars.

Overall opinion: 2.5 Stars

This was a really tough read for me and I did skip a few chapters as it was monotonous to me. I liked the story and definitely like Claire's writing style but I did not like the MCs nor did I find a reason to care about them.

I did like some of the redemption found at the end of the story but that was overshadowed by the hot and cold nature of the MCs. I don't see a long term HEA for them.

⭐️ ⭐️ & 0.5 matched

Have you ever heard “ Ton-sur-ton “ it’s French basically it’s means a dressed code that completely color matched
Just like the book while h @ H get matched of the app which h had created of the company she works for - clue in H indirectly her boss
While he also her brother best friend which she never met and experience having ONS at some phase of her life yada yada yada

Then they met few years later at H father’s office which she nailed the job as reference of her brothers - seems odd concerning she is very talented , independent and many other company wants her

Anyway back to the “ Ton-sur-ton “ it’s nice to matched , like this story - but then again it’s stuck to “nice “

I don’t feels the burning chemistry- what annoyed me much, the author tried to make h & H having some funny banter , unfortunately it lets me feeling lame for them

I feel like it's one of those times when the blurb doesn't do this book justice. I wasn't that excited to read it, - even though I have never read something from the author I didn't love - but yes, yes, and hell yes, it was amazing! And just so you know, the title is so fitting.

It all starts with Bennett getting shit-faced in a bar, mourning his marriage after finding out that his wife is not only cheating on him, but is pregnant with another man's baby. A beautiful stranger joins him at his table, just out of curiosity and for killing time since she's been stood up by her blind date but at the end they end up having a hot one night stand.
Well, a year or so later, it turns out that the beautiful stranger is none other than Morgan, Ben's best friend's little sister who just happens to start working at his company. He's divorced, she's single after dumping her cheater bastard of an ex, yet they don't want to start anything not only because of work and Devon, but because Ben doesn't believe in love anymore and with Morgan's history and childhood, she rather help find love for other people with the new workplace dating app she's developing.
All that being said, it's inevitable that they have to act on their incredible connection, but even before that it's obvious that it's more than just chemistry. So, are they the perfect match who'd find each other no matter what, or maybe the truth Ben's withholding from Morgan is too much and thanks to her past, she can't trust him anymore.

I loved both characters, Morgan was a kickass heroine who's not used to people having her back. And Ben didn't seem the super affectionate, caring kind of man, but it was so sweet that he was there for her when she needed someone. Loved them both, loved them together even more.

Sweet, light-hearted romance in a package of flawless writing!

Now this was a 2 star reading from the beginning but then the drama at the end was just too much g so sorry, not sorry. definitely only worthy of 1 star. I didn't get the drama at the end. it wasn't twist, it wasn't something she didn't know about him but it was presented that way to be shocking? surprising? I don't know. it was annoying and a plainly stupid hurdle in their way to HEA. but then again the whole book was that way. they talk about something and a few pages later they talk about it again and it seems like they hadn't already talked about it. I was thoroughly confused by their conversations because it were the same ones over and over again, repetitive and going around in circles. also why put the whole "he matched with me" in the blurb and then have it be a big reveal in the book? and the app or even her job working for his company wasn't even that big of a storyline for it to be that prominent in the blurb.
in conclusion everything about the writing and drama in this book was just no. No. No!
I know that I've read other books by this author and didn't really enjoy them kthink the highest rating was 3*). but until now I was always willing to give her another chance. Well that was that. I'm done. Claire Contreras is just not for me.

This book is different from the other books I read of this author, since in most of her stories there is an emotional and dramatic charge, here is a lighter book and I found it refreshing and exactly the kind of reading I needed at the time.

The Trouble With Love brings a fun, engaging, sexy, sweet story. I really liked Bennett, and although I find Morgan a bit childish and immature at times I think they as a couple worked well and I've been rooting for them throughout history. Overall, it was a good story that I recommend to anyone who wants to read a good romantic comedy.
