Marry Me

Rate this book
Dear Assbutt Douchenozzle Anders,
You're cordially invited to stop messing around with my emotions. You had your chance and like a coward, ran away when it got too difficult. Couldn't you handle wanting your best friends, little sister? You didn't want me bad enough?
Like I said-coward.
Well, guess what? You lost your chance and now I'm engaged to someone who isn't you. Thank. God. But I'm going to be the bigger person here-for the sake of my brother-and truly hope you can make the wedding, and join in on all of the festivities. I hope you don't choke on the champagne. Or do. Whatever.
Sincerely, The One Who Got Away Giselle

This was the second book I've read by Alexandria Bishop.

The first one was "Kiss Me" which you need to read before these one so, you could understand how it all started between Griselle and Andres (you can get book for free).

"Marry Me" is a sweet and very funny story about two friends who secretly in love with each other, but they are afraid of say it aloud.

If you love tropes: brother's-best-friend, best-friend's-sister and friends-to-lovers, this book is perfect for you ❤.

This is my first book from this author and it was ok read for me. Anders didn’t want to admit his feelings for Giselle because she was younger than him and his best friend’s little sister. When they finally act on it, she goes to Paris the next day and comes back months later engaged and that is where the story fell a little flat for me. I am not a big fan of a love triangles. Anders and Giselle do get a HEA and from how it ends Wren may get a story. I may read that unless he gets involved into another love triangle.

I LOATH love triangles. I went into this book blind, and then it was a love triangle. I suffered through it.

But GOD I CAN’T BLOOMING STAND ANDERS. I HATE HIM. Why did it take so many years like it’s not even ignorant it’s just down right stupid

Two & a half

If you told me a 14 year old wrote this, and that it was originally about other 14 year olds I would not be surprised

Marry Me is sweet, cute and fun with a little angst thrown in to spice things up.

Teen Giselle fell in love with her brother’s best friend Anders in Kiss Me. In Marry Me they do everything to deny those feelings.

“Love makes you do crazy things, and apparently I’m about ready to do one of those things.”

There is a bit of a triangle and lots of ‘will they/won’t they’ back and forth while hoping for the HEA we started wishing for in Kiss Me!

What in the world?!. I never did get the forbidden love because of brothers best friend crap, but tend to enjoy however this one was just too ridiculous for me to get over, who in the hell waits 18 years to man up? really I wouldn't have given him the time of day for him to decide to do something totally lost interest in that..will not continue to read just to annoying.

Giselle has been in love with Anders since forever. Anders also wants to be with Giselle. However, the whole best friend's sister thing stopped him from acting on his feelings. When Giselle gets tired of waiting, she leaves with a bang. They have one great night together. Giselle is saying goodbye while Anders is saying hello. It took a long time for these two to get their act together. Just when Anders gets his head out his butt, Giselle leaves. When she returns with a new beau will Anders keep quiet or will he fight for his woman?

I really enjoyed this book. I was anxious to read it ever since I read Kiss Me. Anders and Giselle’s story was great - full of ups and downs. I also enjoyed seeing glimpses of Marek and Tinsley, along with their family. I’m really looking forward to Virtually in Love.

The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!

18 years???

I'm still over here like why on earth would you go with the guy that wanted you sleep in his guest room to keep you from going on a trip you said you needed to go on? Then acts all surprised that you moved on. Wren deserved way better than Giselle. Also what's with the names in this book? So weird.

I would have to give this book a 1 out of 5- star rating. This book just did not do it for me. The main female and male characters had chemistry but they just did not stand out like some main characters did in other books from other authors have. The storyline of this book was subpar and it just couldn't catch my eye or get me hooked into it. Another thing that I just couldn't like was that the male main character Anders was wearing a fedora that was gifted to him by the female main character Giselle when they were younger and to me, fedoras are just a big turn-off. I do not recommend this book but, I will try to read another book by the author, Alexandria Bishop in the distant future.

This was a great read with a storyline easy to follow. I think that the story could have been improved by adding scenes throughout explaining some of the past 18 years. It just seems that 18 years is a huge gap from the novella “kiss me “ where these characters were introduced to this book now. It doesn’t explain how they got where they are today except a minor part towards the end written about giselle. Nothing is written about how Anders got to be where he is today. Having said that I enjoyed the characters banter and the relationship they shared.

I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through Booksprouts arc.

Giselle stands back in the bar where Anders couldn’t see her. She was coming to tell him goodbye. As Giselle is leaving Anders goes to her and she tells him she is leaving to go to Paris but wanted to see the bar before she left. She remembers when they were kids that he told her they could never get involved because of his friendship to her brother. Anders and Giselle finally give into the pull towards each other. Giselle leaves before Anders gets up she had to leave because she knew he didn’t love her. Giselle comes back home engaged to Wren who is a big movie star. Anders couldn’t believe what was going on how could she be engaged in such a short period of time. Giselle and Wren go to he family’s house the next thing she hears is her mothers voice and asking about an engagement party. Wren and Giselle at the engagement party when Anders gets on stage and sings a song that Giselle remembers. As much as Anders is chasing her the more attached to Wren. Giselle goes into the restroom and Anders goes in and kisses her when Wren sees them. Giselle ran after him explaining that there is nothing going on with Anders. Giselle’s brothers goes over to Anders and asks him what was going on with Giselle. He finally tells her brother that he has always loved Giselle from the first time he met her. Giselle has her own video channel on an online app. Anders had a message that Giselle put up a new video. but what he saw he had to turn away. Her wedding was coming up soon and he was feeling sorry for himself. Giselle sent him an invitation even though she knew he would not show up. Twists, turns and some forgiveness. I really liked this book and it had me interested in each character.

Disappointing. Started well but the whole direction of the book for me was lost after a while. The idea that a man would give up his happiness for 18 years for fear of losing his best friend over falling in love with his sister is absolutely ludicrous. Who would do that? I understood Giselle going off to Paris. It could have been a good story but it was poorly handled, exaggerated and the story became fragmented. Anders decides that he will fight for Giselle. just as she returns from her 9 months long trip, engaged to Wren the famous movie star. Talk about being out of sync! Show me the man in his mid-thirties who becomes engaged to a woman and in six months has no sex with her. Which century was Wren he living in? Giselle's character was portrayed as weak, going with the path of least resistance. I could never understand, why would anyone wait until it's time to walk down the isle to have a change of heart. There was drama created in the form of cyber bullying, malicious blogs and videos which didn't seem to have any real function or consequence in the story. Yes, we do get a HEA but the book then turns and finishes on the incomprehensible events of Wren's life , in order to keep this story going to it's next instalment.
I had the feeling that a lot of elements of book-writing; attraction, some sex, love, wedding, intrigue, deception, etc.... were all thrown together, shaken about and this book was the result with some careless editorial and proofreading errors included.

From the moment Giselle met Anders at 17 years old, she has been smitten with him. He is her older brother's best friend and as such has always been off limits. But her heart doesn't care and even though it's nearly 2 decades later, she still can't forget her feelings for him. Giselle finally decides it is time to take what she wants from Anders and then move on for good.

Anders fell for Giselle the summer he met her, but he was 19 and knew he couldn't get involved with his best friend's little sister. He has tried to remind himself that he can't go there, but when she shows up at his place of business wanting more, he decides he is tired of denying what he truly wants...her.

Giselle and Anders spend one perfect night together but while Anders is assuming this is the start of something wonderful, Giselle is thinking this is goodbye. Will these two ever be on the same page or is it time to let go of what could be?

I really liked this story. I had read The Dating Trilogy by this author so I was already familiar with Anders and Giselle and was excited to see them get their own book. I like both of these characters but I was a little puzzled as to why it took them so many years to finally figure things out. It was fun to get more of Marek and Tinley from The Dating Trilogy. I am happy that Giselle finally got her HEA and can't wait to see what's next for Wren. Another quick, enjoyable read from Alexandria Bishop.

Giselle has been in love with Anders since she was 17, but at 35 he still refuses to pick her over his friendship with her brother so she does the only thing she can think of and leaves. Anders always thought Giselle would wait for him to get his life together and make his move, but he is faced with the cold reality of what happens when you wait to long to claim the woman you love. Nine months after leaving Oregon and her family Giselle comes back home with a surprise in tow her fiance Wren. So will Anders admit defeat or will he fight for the woman he loves. Will Giselle marry Wren or will she give Anders one last chance to claim her for the world to see? This book was good I just had a hard time connecting with the characters I mean these two have loved each other for 18 years and never acted on it that just seemed too drawn out for me to believe and there was just something off about Wren so here's hoping we get a good story about hom next because he was a mystery. I also didn't care for being told about things that happened instead of reading it as it happened. The book was good it just needed more connection and for all this to happen alot faster than it did I mean come on 18 years people! Just too much in my opinion.

To begin with I'm not sure how much I actually liked the character Anders. He's clearly got himself a huge ego and expects Giselle to fall at his feet whenever he wills it. I did warm up to him and I think that's mainly because of how he evolves and begins to realise how much of an idiot he truly is! Giselle, on the other hand, knows exactly what is happening - she's been pining for her brothers best friend for too long and needs to escape the cycle. Clever girl, but things are never that easy.
This is a story of how you can't run from your heart and the problems that are created when you try. Giselle ends up with the wrong guy (even if he is incredibly nice) and Anders realises what he's lost too late. The angst is loaded as they both work through it and find their way. I won't spoil it by revealing exactly what the outcome is, but it's great reading how it plays out.
The lesson of the story is definitely people need to talk to each other and open up a lot more. Listen to your heart people and take a chance!

Good book! I will be watching for more books by this author!!

I really do love a good second chance at love romance. And what can be more second chance than an eighteen year unrequited love, finally deciding to move on and then have the very man you have been in love with all that time decide to finally make his move the night before you jet off for Paris. Of course he is still fighting his feelings and does not actually commit himself so you decide to make that trip and while you are in Paris meet someone who is willing to make that very commitment. It does not hurt that he is a Hollywood movie star, handsome and head over heels for you. So you return home a year later engaged to be married and so very sure you are going to live happily ever after. Nothing can possibly change your mind...right??

And that is the beginning of the story for Giselle, Anders and Wren. The middle and the end make for a very enjoyable book. I will not be giving out any spoilers but your heart will break a little bit for one of these main characters.

Wow. I loved this book from the first chapter. I would have finished this book in one day if I didn't start it late and the darn thing called sleep. LOL :D Anders and Giselle have known each other for the past almost two decades. They both had feelings for each other and had yet expressed them. One day Giselle decided that she needed to get away from everything and booked a ticket to Paris. She had gone into Anders' bar and told him that she was leaving. He took it as his last chance to change her mind about leaving. In the end Giselle left anyways in order to leave her heart behind. When Giselle returned almost a year later she was engaged to be married to a Hollywood actor named Wren.In the end Giselle called off the wedding with Wren only to go to Anders her true love.
Anders is happy that this happened so that he could be with Giselle in the end. If you would like to know the rest of this story please feel free to read this great romance novel between Brother's best friend and younger sister romance. Can not wait for the second book to come out with Wren.

A great follow on to the Dating in the Dark series that I loved so much. Giselle, Mareks's sister has been in love with Anders her brother's best friend since she was 17. Although Anders has always had feelings for Giselle he was afraid to follow up on them and lose Marek's friendship.

After too many years of dancing around what could be and waiting for Anders to come to his senses, Giselle rightfully decides that enough is enough and goes to see him one last time before she moves on with her new life. She has a passionate one nighter with him which is all she ever hoped that it would be and more but as she cannot see a future for them she takes off to Paris the next day without even saying goodbye.

Anders thinks that this is the start of the rest of their lives together and is totally shocked when he wakes up to find her gone. I mean really how long does he expect her to wait around until he finally comes to his senses! He decides to wait until she comes back to tell her how he feels but boy does he get a surprise when she comes home with Hollywood Hearthrob Wren in tow, newly engaged.

BIg wake up call for Anders! Out comes his cave-man instinct as he realises that he has to win his woman back by fair means or foul.

Although I loved the story for its romance, humour and angst, I did want to smack Anders up side of his head for being so stupid and not seeing what he wanted was in front of him all his life, and then selfishly going after Giselle with apparently no regard for how much he was hurting and confusing her. I also felt sorry for the innocent bystander Wren who was stuck in the middle of all of this chaos.

If there had been more communication between the two main characters all this would have been avoided. Let's hope that everyone now has a happy ever after

Giselle has had a crush on her brother’s best friend Anders since she was a teen, but he’s never seemed interested in her. You know, it’s his best friends kid sister and there’s rules about that. Unspoken but well followed rules. It’s too bad that his brain doesn’t stop thinking about her. The night before she heads out on the trip of a lifetime, Giselle and Anders throw caution to the wind. When Anders wakes up the next morning, full of hope for a life with Giselle, he discovers that she’s gone.
Months later she returns, with her fiancé in tow. Now Anders needs to figure out how to make Giselle realize that she’s not in love with her movie star fiancé and that she’s truly in love with him.
This book has it all, a happy ending, humor, good writing, well fleshed out characters, and a storyline that keeps you entertained from beginning to end. It’s fresh and witty and I absolutely devoured it in one sitting. I was so invested, that I've already downloaded Kiss Me and can't wait to start on it.

Anders is an idiot.
Instead of being a man, he’s had a jones for Giselle Outlaw for about twenty years. At 37, he finally caves and hops into bed with her when she tells him she’s leaving.

Giselle has had a jones for Anders for decades. But he’s never acted on it since their teen years cuz he’s bfs with her brother.

They hook up and she leaves for Paris.
She returns engaged to a movie star Wren Danzig who is a much better fit for her.

Here’s my thoughts. They lack communication. They magically think the other is supposed to know what page they are on. Like Anders thinking just because she slept with him, she’s cancel her plans to go to Paris. Two, there’s absolutely no reason not to hook up. Three, Wren is a better match for Giselle. Anders is just a bad habit she can’t break.

I’m glad Wren is going to get his own story.

This book was really good. It was a feel good kind of book. Giselle Outlaw has had the hots for her brother's best friend, Anders McKay for a little over a decade. Of course during that time she was away at an out of state college in California and never once came home to visit. The thing was Anders had made it clear since she was a teenager that he didn't want to persue anything with her because he didn't want to lose her brother as a best friend. So, Giselle goes to the club he owns to say a quiet goodbye not expecting to see him and as she is walking out the door he notices her and calls for her. She tells him she is leaving for Paris the next day on a one way ticket. He talks her into coming home with him. They have a night of passion. But Anders doesn't do or say anything to make her feel like anything has changed and so early the next morning she sneaks out to catch her flight. Nine months later, she is back. What's more she has a surprise...she's is engaged to be married!

This is a first I am reading this author, and while there were some aspects to the book that I noticed, overall this was a good and entertaining read. The character development I thought could have used a little more care, however I did read an ARC, so things could have changed upon publication of the book. I was a little annoyed with Anders and Giselle at times - While they had a connection, Ii thought that their chemistry was sometimes off, but not always. I also think that Giselle's fiancee too easily stepped aside... the break up was a little inorganic. I also felt that Anders' insertion of himself into Giselle's life was a bit much. At almost every turn, he was doing something to break up Giselle and Wren, except telling Giselle his real feelings. After a few times, it got a little annoying.

Otherwise, it was a good story that I enjoyed and I would read this author again.
