TAP INTO YOUR SOULFLOW AND LIVE YOUR MOST MEANINGFUL LIFE.
All of our goals, dreams, ambitions . . . where do they stem from? And why are they such an integral part of the soul's journey during our limited time here on this Earth? So often, we seek answers outside of ourselves. We fall into the “when I” syndrome. We believe that when we make a certain amount of money, live in a certain size house, drive a certain car, hold a certain job title . . . that we'll finally be happy and fulfilled. But what if true soul fulfillment doesn't lie in the goals, ambitions, and dreams, but in the simple everyday moments? How would your outlook on life change? Would you choose to live differently?
Kristen Martin had her first spiritual awakening in her late twenties. Exhausted and overwhelmed by societal pressures and expectations of who she "should be", she realized it was up to her—and her alone—to break out of the mind-numbing, soul-dimming box society had tried to force her into. In these pages, Kristen shares her own journey in overcoming the expectations and judgments of others, breaking through self-limiting barriers, and finally tapping into a level of truth so profound that she had to invent a word to encompass its depth and meaning. It's time for you to discover your soulflow, embrace all that you are, and live the life you so wholly deserve.

This book was much better written than her other books. She's definitely improving her writing which is what writing is all about! I will say though, it can be a bit difficult to get through the first few chapters. They were a bit disorganized and messy, but her message became cleared as she went on. There definitely a few chapters I connected with deeply, but overall, there wasn't too much that was groundbreaking. I will say I've read and known most of the content she presents. If you're just starting into the personal, spiritual, and deeper levels of a human, this could be a decent starting point.
A quick read with some really good thoughts. If you like Kristen Martin's youtube channel and the sister chat type of writing style of Rachel Hollis you will enjoy this!
I hardly ever read personal development books so I'm probably not the target audience for this. Still, it was available for free on Kristen's podcast and I was pretty excited to read it, although I had no expectations.
I was mostly interested in getting a deep dive into her life and her thought process, not sure if that's usually what developed books do. At least, that's what I was hoping for.
Kristen talks mostly about finding her Soulflow (title makes sense after reading it -I had no idea what it was before). Obviously she talks a lot about her spiritual self and how she explored that idea.
She mentioned a few times that she treating yourself to that nice bobble bath, healthy drink and expensive but luxurious plane trip ect, is good for you and you should do it. Which is great if you could afford it, I know I certainly can't. So I would say most of this is not a guide but more of a personal expirence book.
I loved though that she talked about being happy being by yourself, because I think that's one of the most biggest things I see. It's really good that she mentioned this, alot of us think being happy means being with someone however I've seen that it's not true.
Kristen also expresses she has mostly masculine attributions and feels that she needs to allow herself to feel feminine side. While I understand what she is trying to convey, I don't think she does a good job at explaining this.
Just the terms she used doesn't sit well with me considering what's happening with feminism at the moment. She should have used a different word, since both men and woman can be what ever they feel regardless of their gender. Just because you are ambitious doesn't mean you are not feminine. She makes it seem like you aren't masculine if you get upset or are emotional, and I think that just proves there is still an issue in our society where people view masculinity like that.
Overall, I wouldn't say I would recommend this to anyone as a personal development but I would suggest they read it for fun. Kristen does make some good and interesting points about doing what you feel is right, not what you know is the safer and expected pathway. I especially loved this. Particularly since I watch her videos for a long time and actually saw her make that decision in the car about leaving her previous employment. See more of a personal side of her was what kept me reading. So I think this book is more for people who watch her YouTube videos or follow her on instagram.
A side note, she said she wrote her other books, presumably the shadow crown and the other series, because of dealines and she didn't feel like it held as much meaning value. I'm hoping when someone buys and reads the book they don't feel that. Kristen has.a new book coming out and I hope that one has meaning, and does do well.
I really enjoyed this book, I'm surprised it got such a low rating. I thought it felt like an honest book with Kristen using her own experience to make points about what she was writing, it was something I found very relatable. It gets 5 stars from me. I look forward to reading her other non-fiction books to come.
A friend recommended the book b/c she knows I am into spirituality but she is not. She lives in the same city as the author does or did and I guess she wanted to support a hometown girl.
I am sorry I got the book. It is not well written. I hate reading a book to find a misspelled or misused word. I may not be that great at grammar, but if I see a mistake, that's a pretty basic mistake for a writer to make.
The spiritual insights I expected are just not there. The book reads as though the author read a couple of spiritual blog posts and thought, "Oh, I can do this!" This is about her life more than about spiritual growth.
I listened to this book in audio, as the author made it available for free on her podcast, That Smart Hustle, which I really appreciated.
This is her second personal growth book and in it, she urges us to ask ourselves some questions: who are we really, how did we become that person, where do our beliefs/fears/limits/goals come from, etc. She also encourages us to overcome those fears and set goals that truly reflect who we are and what we dream of, so that we can live our life on our own terms.
I've read many personal development books and many ideas in this book are ideas I've heard about before, but I really enjoyed seeing the author's personal spin on them. It was easy and fun to listen to.
I listened to this book via Kristin Martin's podcast, for FREE, I might add! I have been in the personal development world and self-help landscape for quite some time. I believe this book is great for a newbie, self-help rabbit-hole diver! This is a great place to start your journey.
