She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write.
She sold her first book in 1994 to Silhouette Romance but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out to Harlequin Duets and now, to Blaze.
Lori is an adventuresome soul who loves to travel. She’s taken flying lessons, completed two marathons, rode in a hot-air balloon, performed with a professional jazz band, traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone.
She lives in her native Texas, with her own real-life hero, Bill.

Picture this: A spirited heroine with a backbone of steel, a rugged rancher with a heart of gold (buried under about five layers of stubborn), and a Texas landscape so vivid you can practically feel the dust on your boots. That’s what you get in Raleigh and the Rancher, a delightful early work from Lori Wilde (writing as Laura Anthony), proving she’s had storytelling magic in her pen from the start.
Raleigh is exactly the kind of heroine I love—smart, independent, and fully capable of running circles around the gruff cowboy who never saw her coming. The chemistry between her and our brooding rancher is the good kind of slow burn, the kind that keeps you flipping pages late into the night, whispering, “Oh, you idiots, just kiss already.” And when they do? Well, let’s just say Wilde—er, Anthony—knows her way around a swoon-worthy moment.
The dialogue is sharp, the humor is sprinkled in just right, and the emotional depth sneaks up on you like a runaway steer (but, you know, the romantic kind). It’s classic '90s romance in the best way—high stakes, high passion, and a resolution that leaves you smiling like you just won the blue ribbon at the county fair.
While Wilde’s later books show her signature polish, this early gem proves she’s always had the knack for crafting heart-tugging, laughter-filled love stories. If you love small-town romances with strong heroines and heroes who need just a little emotional wrangling, Raleigh and the Rancher is a ride worth taking.

Raleigh Travers has had enough losses in her life to know to keep up a wall around her. When she approaches the new rancher in Rascal, she hopes of getting hired on as his farrier. She's tired of being turned down because of her size...and being a female. For having her emotions walled up all these years, she has a sinking feeling that this man can break those walls down.
The past is keeping Raleigh weighed down, while dreaming keeps Dan floating. These two people will be perfect for balancing each other. Dan knows it...but Raleigh isn't an easy sell. Great story.

I was looking forward to revisiting Rascal, Texas. There is always a wonderful love story there. Dan and Raleigh are two broken souls who have both built high walls around their hearts. Dan was left at the altar and Raleigh thinks she is a jinx to anyone she lets get close to her. Raleigh is on the verge of being homeless and jobless. On top of all that she has her fourteen year old brother who she is guardian of. Desperation drove her to McClintock Dude Ranch seeking a job. This is where the story really starts. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down until I had turned the last page. Dan and Raleigh's road to a happy ever after is full of detours and u-turns. Do they finally admit their love for each other? Read it and find out.

Love finally
This was my favorite of the series so far. It can be read as a standalone story although part of the series.
Nothing but loss and bad luck has haunted Raylene for years. Everyone she has loved has died except for her brother. She can't take a chance at love again because she thinks she is jinxed.
Can Dan convince her to give life and love another chance? He provides a job and a place to live for Raylene and her brother Caleb. He agrees to keep their relationship only professional but as time passes and they continue to work side by side, it gets more difficult. Can they move beyond her fears to embrace the future together? You'll want to read this one to find out!

Great story
Dan and Raleigh were both dealing with past heartache and both determined to never let their defenses down and love again. That was before they met each other. Both have higher priorities than getting entangled in a relationship, though. Family dynamics, hard work, love, and more.

Dadgumit!!! Lori Wilde did it again!!!!
I read this book so quickly, quite the page turner!!! I just dont know how Ms. Wilde does it but the stories get better with each one she writes. I have read the previous eight books in this series, and as previously stated, they get better and better. I anxiously await the next one!! Keep ‘em coming, Lori!!!

Dan wanted out of his office job at his fathers company. Raleigh needs a job since her father passed away. Raleigh comes to the new ranch Dan has purchased. He is smitten right off. Raleigh has had a lot of heart ache in her life. Dan's father thinks he will fail at the new dude ranch he purchased.

I am absolutely so loving this series!!! All the hurt and pain and love and then such a sand storm of time!!!! We pick our battles that's for sure for the next adventure we take in life..

Good read
I love cowboys, cowgirls, and ranching. This book has loads of angst, sexual frustration, stubbornness, a tiny bit of humor, and lots of love. The hero and heroine are both scarred from last relationships, but love can save. Highly recommend.

Dan!!
With each of these books the cowboys get better and better. Dan is such a sweet loving guy while Raleigh is such a feisty woman afraid of love. So glad she was able to open up.
