Normally I shy away from memoirs - I just find them difficult to process. This book however is a bit of a jaunt with a considerable amount of humour and a decent dose of history to keep my interest.
As a memoir the author is very careful to focus solely on his own experiences and references his comrade's own books for more information about certain incidents. This is something of a disappointment and leaves me with a desire to find a more definitive compendium of the high-jinks and escape attempts that were made.
