It's up, up, and away for Elmo! Follow the fun as Elmo's high-flying kite takes him from the park to adventures in the deepest darkest jungle to the muckiest swamp to clearing up to Mars as he tries to find his way back home to Sesame Street .
Elmo falls - plop - on top of a log lined with frogs.
"Can you tell Elmo how to get to Sesame Street?"
"Ribbit, ribbit," the frogs go.
They don't know!
Heaven help me. I can't stand Elmo. I hate his voice. I hate how he talks about himself in the third person, it drives me NUTS.
It was fine in the '70s and '80s because he was just a part of a much larger show. But when he started to star in specials and get his own show (Elmo's World), that was it for me. He was officially on my shit list, along with Caillou.
I hated this book. For one thing, it starts and ends with Elmo reading books. And talking about how much he loves reading. Why? I have no idea. Just random bizarre encouragement to read?
Then he gets a kite and goes outside to fly it. In a very, very improbable scenario, the kite carries Elmo away - far, far away from Sesame Street. He asks various animals how to get back home. The animals are less than helpful. He surfs with the kite, he somehow finds a random magic carpet on the beach (what the fuck?) and the magic carpet takes him into space (again, the fuck?), then for some reason the magic carpet zooms towards earth and plops Elmo down in the city zoo (which we first think is the jungle) and Elmo gets home safe and sound and starts reading more books.
I'm fine with nonsensical but I like it to at least be a little better written than this.
I got this for a baby (not quite two), but I'm never checking this out again because it was irritating me.
If a child loves Sesame Street, there are MUCH better Sesame Street books out there, including, but not limited to, The Monster at the End of this Book.
I understand that this is a "I can read it all by myself!" book, but with the plethora of actually good children's literature out there - including picture books - I can't see why I should put up with this shit.
My nephew brought me this to read and my first reaction was, this is going to be awful. He picked it out and I read it too him. I am pleased to say that it was a fun, sweet little story. Elmo loves books and he is surrounded by piles of books he’s reading so that won me over a little. Then he goes on this zany adventure where he is trying to find Sesame Street. SPoiler - he does find it. Then he’s back in his books. It’s a cute and sweet story for young kids
The nephew gave it 5 stars. He still likes Elmo. The artwork is nice. I was pleasantly surprised.
The character of the book was Elmo and the animals he ran into asking "Can you help me get back to Sesame Street" Throughout the story Elmo was taken out of space from the heavy wind out into space once he reached back to land he asked multiple animals help to get back to Sesame Street. All the animals did not know how to help Elmo except the very last animal. At the end of the story the kind animal helped Elmo back to the Sesame Street and he was happy to make it back home to continue reading his books. The literary of the book was very playful the story was rhyming which is exciting for children 3-5 to read, the fact that it rhymes the children are able to rememorizes the story and to pick up learning new words. I gave this book five stars because its very playful and the fact that the book begins with Elmo reading lots of books at the beginning of the story excites the children to know that Elmo reads too.
great way to introduce children to books featuring a story line "Elmo loves books." I also use it with my space theme pointing out the things Elmo sees in outer space and asking the children to identify what they see in the sky (on the page) and follow through with a trip outside to identify objects in the sky although the objects msy not always be related to space. The children identify birds, airplanes, jets and sometimes balloons and blimps.
Can You Tell Me How to Get to Sesame Street is a children's beginner book by Eleanor Hudson. This is a great children's beginner book because it includes very easy words for the students to read. It also includes pictures of Elmo complete the tasks which is a great way to help the students know and understand the words. I will use this story in my classroom as the children are first beginning to learn how to read.
Elmo goes on an adventure while trying to find his way back to sesame street. He loves reading books about everything so after reading a book about kites Elmo takes a kite outside to fly it and gets carried away by the wind and loses his way because he travels far from sesame street. He ends up getting an elephants help to get back to sesame street.
The kite made Elmo fly. Things got smaller and smaller because he went so high. He found many friends, ducks, frogs and he surfs! He also flies on a magic rug! There are other fun adventure Elmo has in this book.
My nephew loved this book! You follow Elmo along as he tries to get back to Sesame Street as a strong wind gust takes his kite and leads him all over the place. Only you find out that it was just imagination from reading. Elmo encourages children to read and use their imagination.
I loved that most of this Elmo book talked about books themselves. The words were easy and they flowed easily. I also found that it is a short bedtime book. Happy Reading Kids!
This story is an adventure that takes place in Elmo’s imagination as he reads the books he loves. It’s fun to read aloud because of all the action words used to bring his adventure to life.
This is a placeholder for Come together, change the world (sesame street) as I couldn’t find it on Goodreads.
My niece will be 2 next month and she LOVES Sesame Street! I will be buying this book for her so we can talk about treating people fairly and with kindness. Great book!
