I had a plan—make it to the Major Leagues with my best friend in tow. It was all I had left of my dad, a memory I promised myself to keep alive.Until a freckled-face, redhead sauntered into Freemont High and became the unattainable. My best friend wanted her. I, on the other hand, wanted to annihilate her. However, it didn’t occur to me that she wielded more power under her sweet and innocent facade than I expected. They say not to judge a book by it’s cover, and I should’ve listened. Her revenge on me is sweet, though, but in the end, it’ll all be mine.I’ll light every word, every last page stitched between her pretty cover in untamed flames…until she’s nothing but ash.Left to rot in the red dust of the playing field.
Hazel Grace is an avid music lover, an undefined human being, and hardcore Oakland Raiders fan from the mitten state of Michigan. Always surprising her readers with weird Michigan sayings (they have their own cuss words) and writing "what the f*ck" storylines. When she's not writing, she's on Spotify finding new bands, working on her Camaro or watching shows with her kids with annoying songs attached to them.
Seems like I am not reading this after all, thanks to Fre06 info and to make matters worse is a CLIFFHANGER 😴😴😴😴😴🙄🙄🙄 Is this still a thing?? Who in the right picks up a book with cliffhanger??? Sooo many books out there...
I don’t believe it’s a big surprise when I say I have a huge crush on Hazel Grace leads; Garrett (An Array Series), Wyatt (Deceived Duet) and now Colson Hayes (Bases Series).
She has an infinity for writing strapping men with looks for days! They are everything a girl wants in a guy, tall, dark, handsome, charismatic, smirk-able, lick-able and downright edible. Although, there is one teeny, tiny thing that could be a drawback. They are downright a-holes and God, help me, I don’t care. I still want them. I’m not sure what that says about me, but, man, I love the guys that are a@@holes.
Colson Hayes is one of those a-holes, he’s an alpha and has a penchant to be a big bully. He and his best friend, Gavin are the top dogs at their school in Fremont, OK. Gavin and Colson have had plans for a long time to reach the MLB together to get out of their small town.
Sawyer Boyd is the girl all the bad guys want (thank you Bowling for Soup for getting this stuck in my head). Sawyer is the new girl in town and her only source of comfort is being a member of the softball team. She is smoking hot and every guy wants to date her, the ‘Alpha A-hole’ included, however, he is a true mixed up high schooler keeping his eyes on the prize (MLB) and doesn’t take the time to analyze his feelings.
Colson and Sawyer are undeniably hot together with chemistry and sexual tension that jumps off the pages. Through the eyes of Colson and Sawyer, we get to experience their lives, both past (ten years prior) and currently. These flashback sequences are written beautifully and flawlessly with a natural flow from one scene to the other.
I am so addicted to this series and can’t wait for the next one. I have found only one thing that I don’t like about this book. It is two words that are written together…’The End’. Worst two words an author could put at the end of their book. I’m telling you this hasn’t stopped me from continuously pushing the next button for more. Sadly, I was left longing for more. So, with this being said, I beg you Hazel Grace, can I have some more? I love you, you evil woman and your wicked vile ways! Do you yourself a favor, check out Interference and then some of her other great reads!!
Dizzy from all the flip flop from past to present and still no idea why or what the h did to cause breakup! The H was a big bully in high school, tormented h who began dating H's best friend. H tried to break them up, tried to get h to not date him, tried to get h in trouble for cheating on tests and a host of things. The H was a total douche who slept around, one of the f* ck buddy no other than the young principal of the school! He used that relationship to try to get h expelled! Something happened that threw H off his game plan to win scholarship - seems somewhere along the way H/h somehow ended up to together. Still don't know how they got together at end of book 1, still don't know what caused the break or what happened to the best friend.
We do know H hates h with a passion, blames her for his messed up life. We also know H has not grown up, still same loud douche, manwhoring bully who slept with h's sister on his return to town( not sure how he didn't know she was h's sister, living in small town, dating h but apparently he didn't). The sister became very clingy almost stalkerish in pursuing H even after it came out he was with sister in high school. The h's sister tricked him into coming to family dinner, tried to make it seem H was her b/f when he made it very clear no such thing just hook up. He found out at dinner she was h's sister.
He later also deliberately slept with the h's assistant, made sure she spent the night and went into work in same clothe. I loathe the whole sibling/friend sharing disgusting to be honest especially sisters maybe because I have 2 sisters - cant imagine where this would be something I forgive or accept - nope!
He tried to sabotage the h's dates ( she has f*ck buddy, also tried to date a doctor) - glad she wasn't enclosed in glass and became a born again virgin or some such - yeah!
I honestly could not stand the H whatsoever, not sure how he will be redeemed since most everything he does is deliberate to torment and hurt the h to be honest. I can sort of understand if the bullying and whoring around was left in the past and he showed growth but nothing changed except his age! jeez, not sure if I can continue with book 2 to be honest - i may force myself only because I want to know first how they went from hating each other, her dating his best friend to being together, and also what caused this big break up. Sure hope its not her cheating on him with the friend - will see.

This book pulled me in from the first chapter. That last comment by Colston had my mouth hanging open, and I knew I was going to love his character. He is this jaded guy who has a lot of animosity towards his past. He is still holding grudges and sometimes results in immature acts to release his frustration.
Sawyer is more reserved in her actions, but if you piss her off, you better believe she’s going to get even. She defends herself and gives as good as she gets.
This book contains flashback from the past and present to explain the reasons why these two have this hate relationship. This way of writing, and then the book ending on a cliffhanger, left me wanting so much more! I need my questions answers, and I need the characters to get their act together and stop living in the past. I am so excited about book 2 and need it immediately.
-An Arc was generously provided in exchange for an honest review.-
Hazel Grace has done it yet again: first Wyatt, now Colson. I should know better by now but apparently my masochist streak is wider and runs deeper than I thought, and so I keep falling recklessly in love with all the grade A assholes. Yet, I regret nothing.
“Strike” can’t get here fast enough. It the meantime, let me tell you about “Interference”.
Colson Hayes IS the cocky asshole you desperately want to hate but that you just can’t bring yourself to do so: he’s too hot for his own good and other very different, very conflicting emotions, surface when you’re in his presence.
Sawyer is the new kid in town: the good girl with the looks to kill they every guy wants to possess – Colson included. He just doesn't know it yet.
The chemistry and sexual tension between Sawyer and Colson is unmistakable and soon both of them will find that there’s no running from whatever it is that keeps pushing them into each others paths.
What will they do about it? I don’t know because, apparently Hazel Grace enjoys giving us mini heart-attacks and commanding us to wait in order to satisfy your unwavering curiosity. You lady, are a special kinda of evil and I freaking love you for it. Watch me bow at your feet and worship the hell out of you.
This book keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time and, at least to me, there’s still no clear sign on whose in the wrong because, the way I see it, I’m guessing that both of them might have screwed up royally in the eyes of the other one at some point: we still don’t know the full story yet.
Sawyer is way braver and more strong-willed that I’d ever be, because while reading the book, I tried to put myself in her shoes and, in her place I would have run way from Colson eons ago, fearing his threats and straight up cowering at his potent, imposing presence.
I love the twisted morals and unconventional relationships that Hazel Grace brings to the pages and that’s one of the reasons why I keep coming back for more. Another reason is her writing: it’s angsty, powerful, deep and captivating.
So yeah, I’ll be here, not so patiently waiting for more Asshole Colson and Badass Sawyer.
*I received an ARC and I´m voluntarily leaving my honest review.*
This is the next "It" bully romance. Where do I even start with this book? Let's start with how much I loved it. & I did. I also hated it a little, because Hazel does such a good job keeping us on our toes. I couldn't put this book down because I needed to know what happened between them!!!! I still do, book two comes out next month and I'll be waiting, like a starving wolf for it's release. You get to see back 10 years and present and the two flow perfectly to a point of good frustration. Colson is the new jerk of all jerk book boyfriends. But he has a heart. A wounded one that beats hard for the girl he now hates. Hazel knocked it out of the park with this one.
Every book of Hazel Grace’s I have just loved, she knows how to write such a captivating story and keep you completely hooked and on the edge of your seats. Honestly, with some of the things she’s written about, it’s enough to worry you (but in a good way). She has such an incredible mind and I love reading all the ideas that she’s had and put them into words, she has such serious talent that I can’t help but notice that she improves with each book. I loved reading this book, it was gripping and the plot was really interesting and you can’t help but keep wondering out of the two characters who was the innocent one in all of the book and who was the bad person. But Hazel managed to use everything to her advantage. The only thing that I will say that I noticed about this book was that it didn’t pop out and have the wow factor as the other books of Hazel’s have, but that being said, I did enjoy the story, the characters and I’m excited to see what happens next because it was intriguing with how she ended it. If you love Hazel’s work, but haven’t had chance to give this a read yet, then you should go ahead and do so, so that you don’t miss out.
Colson had a plan, get through school, earn a baseball scholarship and then get out of town with his best friend (Gavin) in tow….. However, that all changed the minute Sawyer Boyd walked into their lives and the destruction she caused for Colson hurt him so badly that he lost everything he was planning to achieve…. Now it’s ten years later and he’s back in his home town, planning to sort out a few things with his mom’s house and then getting back to his job… The last person he expects to see is Sawyer, the girl who broke his heart…. The one thing he does know is that things are about to get interesting whilst he’s back, although he’s not sure what he’s got in store for Sawyer.
One of the best angsty bully books I have read so far this year!! Hazel Grace did an job with Interference. Sawyer and Colson have this strong connection that they both fight in the beginning. Sawyer is the new girl in town and all she wants is to fit in with her softball team and get through senior year. Colson is one cocky son of a B**** who has one goal in mind, baseball scholarship to get out of his small town. Sawyer being with Colson's best friend was not part of those plans and he will stop at nothing to keep them apart. I've never loved a character so much, but one that I also wanted to slap a few times. This is a great first book to her Bases series and I can't want to see what more she has in stored for us. Batter up!!
This is book one in a new series written by Hazel.
Colson is brought back to his hometown to deal with some unfinished business. He is unsure if he should stay, but then a once and a life time job opportunity falls in his lap. Should he let an old flame haunt him around the familiar setting, or take the once in a life time dream job?
Sawyer has a sister who is a pain and a father with health issues. She is doing everything in her power so that her family business won’t fail. When a flame from her past shows up and starts to cause havoc on her carefully order.
Hazel will have you sitting on the edge of your seat as you try to figure these two out. I can’t wait to see more of this series.
Adore the author and have read and loved all her previous books.
Like to start off by saying the author is "the cliffhanger queen". Not something I love, because I get very impatient but, it is what it is.
This story has romance, baseball and an alpha male. This alpha male is a bit of a jerk, but Sawyer seems like the type of girl who will be able to make him change his ways. Right after he's done messing shit up. Can't wait to read what happens next! You have me at the edge of my seat with this one!
This book was everything. I need more of Sawyer and Colson. I can’t wait to continue with this series and I’ll definitely read of this author. This was my first read and it exceeded my expectations. 🤍
Wow, this is my first book from this author and I am in awe! The main characters are nothing I have come across so far! The dialogue is super dynamic, super sassy and witty and the sexual tension is contagious. The main hero is major ass*ole and a bully, but the heroine is not some weak princess and she handles him pretty well.
The story is written in POV parallel to the past and the present, which gives additional suspense and makes you wonder what is happening in the next page.
I have read lot of alpha-bully stories, but this one… brings them to a whole new level. Smart, unpredictable and really hot, you will not put the book down till the very end. Spoiler alert: If you are a fan of stories, where main couple are fully faithful to each other to the very end, you might be disappointed, but keep in mind that there is a long path utill this two birds find each other again.
The only flaw I see in the story is, that I have to wait utill the next book to see how their hate relationship will develop. Goof news is Part 2 is coming in the end of July
Hazel Grace did it again. She sucked me into a vacuum of words where I read an entire book in a day and now I am pissed it’s over. The best analogy I can give you is that I know exactly how my preschooler felt when it was time to leave Hershey chocolate factory. I want more now! It’s really not fair, I yelled at my kindle when I realized it was over. At least I know there’s more coming but waiting is so hard!
In all seriousness if you enjoy a fantastic bully story pick this up, because Colson and Sawyer are at right at that skin of your teeth edge the entire book building up tension that only great authors can give you.
Honestly this book is epic. I never thought I would love a book this much.Hazel Grace has done a wonderful job with her character and they simply eat u alive when u finish every single page. Colson the big bad bully with no feelings made me hate him and love him.Through the span of 10 years we can see how he matures and grows a heart and itz mesmerizing. When it comes to the female character hazel throughly won me over.Strong, independent, heart stopping beauty who knows her powers. 5 heartfelt stars.i want more of this..
Idk why, but I didn't leave a review the first time I read this book. Interference is an AMAZING intro to a series. I'm rereading the series as I impatiently wait for the final book to drop at the end of the month, and though I didn't love this book as much as two and three, it's still great. Hazel Grace does such a good job establishing the angst and push and pull between Colson and Sawyer. The dual POV and flashbacks to whatever happened to these two-STILL waiting for Book Four to know the whole story-flows so smoothly. This book is slow compared to the two that come after, but it lays the groundwork for the shit that hits the fan coming up. This is my favorite sports series I have ever read, and I can't recommend it enough. Young Sawyer totally sucks, but she has her moments that redeem herself, and make me remember that there was a time when I was as naive and hopeful as she was. Read. This. Book. If this is your first time, I do recommend waiting until closer to the end of the month. You will devour the next two books, and hate yourself for having to wait for the finale.
Literally addicting! I only read a select few authors when I’m looking to dive into the rabbit hole of high school romances, but Hazel Grace has just proven she can hang with these big names I’ll always one click. This story was a back and forth between the past and present-a carefully laid out novel that dives into Colson and Sawyers long enemies to not quite yet lovers. Their chemistry was sizzling-their banter, absolutely hilarious. The author has made these characters into two of the wittiest I’ve ever read. Though I want to smack Colson, I can tell there’s quite a few bombs that will be dropped-and I’m so here for it. Must dive into the rest of the books ASAP!
Colson is the hot baseball player who will do anything to make Sawyer's life miserable because he wants her all to himself without actually having her. I love the fighting & the love/hate relationship. The only thing that I didn't like was the constant back and forth between past and present. Other than that it was an awesome read & can't wait for Strike.
What did I just read? I really loved Disorderly series, but this Bases series was not my cup of tea.. Colson was a shameless manwhore, and both Colson and Sawyer were toxic together.. I really didn't understand why Colson treated Sawyer like that (both 10years ago and present)..
I wanted to rate this book 1 star.. but I still want to know what happen in book 2..so I gave this 2 stars..
It took me a bit to get into the story. The story takes you in flashbacks of 10 years ago & the present time . I'm patiently waiting for the conclusion as the book ends with a cliffhanger. I will be reading more books by this author.
I had a little trouble getting into this at first but once I powered on I got hooked on finding out what has happened between Sawyer and Colson. This book does a great job of keeping you wondering what will happen next. I'm excited to read the second book and see where it goes!
Love it ! I need to more !! I’m totally confused and I’m like where tf is Gavin in present time ! Lol I’m on edge for the series ! And I’m super stoked for the next book !
I was hooked. Fascinated. Intrigued. I couldn't put it down. I needed to know everything about their story. I still need to know. Cliffhanger beware. It's a great read.
