Terrific (in all senses of the word)! I don't know how she does it but author Stacy Claflin got my adrenaline rushing once again with this gorgeous thriller centered on young policeman Alex Mercer and his hapless family and friends. Such a treat to read: fast paced, with so many twists, great writing and another crazed villain, this one after Robin, Alex's Spokane-resident cousin and her totally traumatized pre-teen daughter Ayla. I really liked the way the story alternates between their nightmare and Police Chief Nick Fleshman's most recent family dilemmas; the emotional Fleshman family revelations and aftermath take a bit of the pressure down so the main plot thriller can, In contrast, keep churning and building. The shorter chapter format also lets you take a proverbial breath between scenes; with all the drama and tension in the story, I appreciated the technique.

I am such a😍 fan of this series. I feel like I know these characters and the contrast between the happy, growing families they have created and the threats they constantly deal with will keep me coming back as long as this series continues.👍👍

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

The book is an easy and quick read. It has just enough suspense to keep you reading long after you should stop like for sleep. The subplot involving Nick and his son helped break up the tension involved with Ayla's ordeal.

The editing was for the most part right on. Only a couple grammatical mistakes but nothing to distract from the story itself.

I really am not a fan for the author to leave a lead in for the next book though it does make me want to read the next Alex Mercer novel. Now I just have to wait until it is released. Fortunately it is new plot. This book actually came to a conclusion and didn't leave the reader hanging.

I would recommend this book for anyone who likes a mystery which flows smoothly and is fairly uncomplicated. Just be sure you have time to read it without any distractions.

Stacy Claflin has done it again with another superb addition to the Alex Mercer series.

This captivated me right from the start as all the Alex Mercer books have. There's still plenty happening on the side with the other character we have grown to know and love. Their stories are continuing and they are growing and reminding us all that family is not necessarily blood tied only.

The latest kidnap victim is related to Alex and he's the only person she remembers. As the story evolves we learn of the bad man, his anger and his abuse. However, her mother and father are both still missing. As memories slowly return the bad man reappears in a timely manner.

Suspenseful and page turning from the get go.

Alex's niece shows up with no memory of who she is, but she remembers her Uncle Alex. Young Ayla has no recollection of her parents, either by their pictures or going to her house. Her parents are missing and everyone is fearing the worse. Macy, Alex's sister tries to counsel Ayla, but things turn for a worse when she remembers something and cant stop screaming! Worse yet, she screams when around all men, including Alex.

I don't know how Stacy finds a new way to torture Alex Mercer's family. They're truly cursed. This time Alex's niece Ayla can escape her captor and the only thing she remembers is her uncle Alex. He takes her in and does everything to help her remember while hoping to find her parents. Not only the Mercers are dealing with problems, police chief Nick is dealing with bad news concerning his son.

I received an advanced copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

OMG I love these books and this latest addition did not let it down! Although it does seem this family is totally cursed you have admire the way they all come together to support and encourage each other even when it’s family they haven’t seen in a while! Another kidnapping, non stop action, a little romance and family which means everything! And let’s not forget the twists and turns and that ending, OMG! I cannot recommend this series enough!!!

Great series!

All of the books in this series are quick reads that will keep you wanting more. While I wouldn't want to be a Mercer, the family has interesting dynamics that have added to each book in the series. For someone like me who loves to read but doesn't have a lot of time to devote to the hobby, this series has been a excellent choice for me. I look forward to reading the next book.

Ayla, Alex younger cousin escapes from a cabin where she's being held.
when she's found coming out of the woods, she can't remember anything or anyone except for her cousin who stayed with them and played with her when she was very little.
Now Alex is trying to help locate Ayla's mom who is also missing.
Meanwhile, Nick has his hands full as Parker is acting out since finding out who his biological father is.

Another great story with lots of twist, strong characters, and a solid plotline.

This book really tugged on my heartstrings. The young female character was only 12 years old and went through a very traumatic event. When she was able to escape and was taken to the hospital, her memories were severely compromised. The only thing she could remember was an Uncle Alex. She hadn't seen him for years and he really wasn't her uncle.
This was a fast read. It kept my attention from beginning to end. The characters were very well developed and believable. The dialogue flowed smoothly. The editing was clean and had very few, if any, spelling or grammatical errors. That is important to me. Another great read from Stacy Claflin. I would recommend this book to anyone. I love this author's writing style and can't wait until the next book in the Alex Mercer series.

Another great addition to the Alex Mercer series. This family may be cursed as family members keep getting abducted, they are like a magnet for bad guys. The author does a wonderful job with the emotions of the characters and writes a great tale of suspense that will keep you turning the pages. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.

Another great mystery from Alex Mercer’s series. Alex is contacted to take care of her cousin daughter’s Ayla after she is been found out in the woods in Spokane traumatised and bad beating. He takes her home and they all try to help her bring back all her memories in order to find what happened to her and where are her parents. Rollercoaster of emotions.

Non stop action, real life characters, every day people and problems...best thing? As I was getting closer to the end, I was worried there wouldnt be another story...but I believe there may be...there was a cliff-hanger :) Yay!!

Another stunning Alex Mercer volume!

On the edge of your seat page turning story. Great story lines and well developed characters. Claflin pulls you in and makes you feel like part of the family. You feel like you are off of each event that takes place.

Ayla, 12yr old carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders trying to keep her mother alive

also from the grips of the monster as soon as they get out of this car trunk! There comes a point when they do become separated which is super hard but can't be helped! Ayla keeps going amazingly with the help of Uncle Alex who is really her cousin but she just called him that when she was tiny! Ayla is a special girl and this is a SPECIAL BOOK! AND A SPECIAL READ! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. Unless if you don't enjoy reading about children and thrilling reads then this book isn't your cup of tea, otherwise it's perfect! ENJOY!

While it does ellude to the fact that the Dad did it in one scence it still manages to have an air of mystery and depth bringing up questions like where is the Mom or will Ayla get her memories back?
