The New Art of War-China's Deep Strategy Inside the United States

Rate this book
“Bill Holstein’s gripping reporting on the extent of China’s incursion into American commerce, culture, education and politics is so alarming that if you put this book under your pillow it would keep you up all night. A must read for everyone to understand the just below-the-surface asymmetric war China is relentlessly waging against the largely-unsuspecting United States.” —Allan Dodds Frank, an Emmy and Loeb Award-winning business investigative journalist. “The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting. —Sun Tzu, author, The Art of War The challenge is how can America’s fractured democracy and diverse society respond to a centrally orchestrated strategy from China that ultimately may challenge our interests and our values? Some Chinese-Americans and Chinese residents—perhaps only a relative handful—have cooperated in obtaining technology for China. And many Chinese nationals who obtained years of experience working at American companies have returned to China to help competitors there. The Chinese have a nickname for these individuals, haigui, or returning sea turtles who come ashore once a year to lay their eggs. This book outlines the contemporary issues and offers solutions.

Throw a frog into a boiling water and it tries to jump out. Put a frog into a cold water, start heating it up slowly and the frog will not notice it. The latter is China’s government strategy for colonizing and exporting their Orwellian dictatorship dystopia to the US and the Western democracies. An eye opening book and a must read for all who stand for and protect democracy.

For Americans who assumed the policies of the Chinese government would become more closely aligned with democratic values following the trajectory set by Deng Xiaoping, the book The New Art of War is an real wake-up call. Written by William J. Holstein, a journalist who has covered China for over thirty years, it details well documented proof of President Xi Jinping’s effort to transfer vast amounts of American intellectual property as fast as possible involving robotics, AI, and renewable energy design, to name just a few. This is a must read for anyone striving to stem the loss of more American jobs to China or to thwart the pervasive theft of military technology secrets by an oppressive, authoritarian government. Holstein’s exposè is well organized, clearly written, succinct yet thorough and reveals insight that could only come from the expertise of a long time China watchman.

The eye opening story of China quietly taking over the USA, while the USA takes middle finger up, duck face selfies in the mirror while shoving hand fulls of $100 bills down its pants.

This book depicts a lot of information about red dragon's involvement in probably every field known to man in biased over-competetive and sometimes unethical ways. You can see pattern explained in the book in your own country as well. Being informed is the best bet right now!!!

Timely and Important Read

Very important and timely book on national security.

Not only is it an applicable book for the United States, but also relevant to Canada and Australia.

Holstein is a great writer, and this book had a lot of great information throughout - even though I found it quite short.

Check it out!

I skipped a lot of this, but it's a nice summary of a lot of unfriendly Chinese practices. Author has recommendations in the last section, and he has a summary of those recommendations at the very end.
