Konami Kanata (jp. こなみかなた), is a Japanese cartoonist best known for her cat characters Chi's Sweet Home. Her works revolves around the daily life of house cats.
She went to Futaba-Kōtō Academy in Suwa, Nagano Perfecture. Her first published manga as a profesional manga-ka was the short story Puchi Neko Jamu Jamu in Nakayoshi Manga Magazine in 1982. The magazine is a part of Kodansha Publishing, in which she published her works ever since her first debut.
Chi and Cocchi meet new cats and they become friends quickly too. Weirdly enough, these two new cats not only have a similar appearance as Chi but also behave a lot like her. I wonder if that's her family where she got lost as a little. Based on the size of Chi, not much time passed since the Yamada family adopted her. I think that the manga series will end that she found her true family again.
I hope that if that actually happens that Chi stays in touch with Cochi. He's a real friend!
(It's also funny how Chi gets reminded a lot that she's a cat and she has always the same reaction to it).
I've read volumes 1-7 but skipped 8 and 9 as I saw volume 10 in the library and had to read it. There is some crazy cute stuff in here where chi realise that chi is a cat and not a human and finds out what a momma is. Squee.
Just as sweet, cute, and unbearably entertaining as the previous volumes. As a cat-lover and kitty parent, I feel unable to express how much joy and hilarity these chapters brought me. You'd think after 9 volumes, Kanata-sensei would run out of cat-isms to explore, but she continues to illustrate more and more and almost as cutely as experiencing them with a cat in person. To go deeper into this volume, the story is becoming extremely compelling—more than simple life-with/as-a-kitten briefs—with underlying tension mounting after every chapter. I can't believe we have to wait until Fall 2014 for the next installment; it's going to be torturous!
Another great addition to the Chi’s Sweet Home series. I’m intrigued to see what will happen in the final 2 volumes and if Chi will be reunited with her original family. Always a delight to read.
Omg, Chi's playing with his siblings! She's finally realizing that she's not like Yohei, and mommy and daddy. I think she's finally realizing that she's a cat. I hope that she gets to reunite with her siblings and kitty mommy. I also hope that she can stay with daddy, mommy and yohei and visit her cat family every day! That would be the best outcome.
I think it's just too cute that she's playing with Cocchi and her siblings, and I think it's so cute that they all share similar traits. This has been the cutest manga series I have read thus far. Of course, every time I read it my own cat feels the need to sit in my lap and try to be the center of attention.
Typical! But I recommend this series to young readers and older who love cats!
Another good progression to the overall story and super fast read.
I assumed Cocchi would stay with Yohei and his parents but I guess he’s really an outdoor cat!
It was nice to see Chi meet and play with her siblings but I do feel a little miffed about the parents keeping quiet about the lost kitten. Obviously it’s just a story but they haven’t exactly been doing a great job watching Chi since she’s always leaving and ending up needing to go to the vet… 😅 so even though they don’t want to disappoint their toddler, it’s really selfish and irresponsible to not contact her owner.
That’s my one gripe and why I wouldn’t give it a 4.5 or 5.

Chi finds her siblings and there is a flyer advertising a missing kitten (that looks identical to Chi) 🐱, however, the Yamada’s don’t want to call 📞 the owner as Yohei 👦 will be devastated if Chi has to leave their family. Chi also realises that she is not actually a human but a 🐈⬛ cat.

This volume was adorable Cocchi stays with Chi a little longer and spends a day in the life of Chi. It’s prettty adorable. Cocchi gets to see the benefits of Chi’s life and home, but ultimately misses his freedom.
I guess once a country mouse, always a a country mouse…
Chi begins to realize that she is different from the people she lives with and starts to have some angst about what that means. Also, she meets some kittens that look strangely familiar.
Este tomo me ha gustado pero no ha sido tan tierno como otros anteriores. Eso sí, el final se acerca y cada vez estoy más segura de lo que va a pasar. ¡No quiero que Chi deje a los Yamada! ;__;
Chi's Sweet Home vol. 10 is a full coloured manga. Most manga are black and white inside but this one is detailed like any kid's book.
Chi's self-discovery and kitten adventure is funny, educational and bittersweet. The art is beautiful and cute. There is a plot though it has a lighthearted newspaper comic feel to it. The quality is consistent and the pacing is wonderful. the humour is rich and original.
This is a fun book with a cat's perspective on life and explores family dynamics, friendship and self identity.
What a lovely little book. I'd like to find more of the series. It's for anyone that enjoys a good plot and light reading, young or old.
