I remember exactly why I started writing to him. I felt desperate and alone—as if no one in the world remembered I existed and needed to be cared for. These letters were never put in an envelope or sent across the miles, because there was no address.
He didn’t exist.
For the first time in forever, I had someone who I could share my thoughts and feelings and secrets with. I clung to the sliver of hope that he would come rescue me.
My mother promised our new life would be better for all of us after fleeing from my abusive father, but it’s only been an illusion. Just like the letters I write to a person with no name.
As if a new neighborhood and a new school weren’t enough to throw me off balance, Lena, a little Italian hurricane blows into my world with cappuccino, homemade food, and friendship. She thinks these things can make everything better. She might just be right.
But I’m so used to hiding in shadows and staying safe within the fantasy of control I built for myself that I have a hard time accepting what life has gifted to me.
I’m not ready to let go of my invisible savior. Because if he doesn’t come for me, who will?
Dear You is about 52,500 words in length.
Read about Kate Malone who learns how to leave the shadows, anger, and fears behind in order to become her own savior.
Books that have influenced me the most as a child were Nancy Drew, Anne of Green Gables, and Little House on the Prairie. I'm a huge fan of Jane Austen. I love reading children's picture books as well as any novels that have pictures as an integral feature (such as Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children). I love well-written Regency Romance and mysteries. I love just about anything that has a hint of romance and a happy ending!

Dear You is a story about Kate, a young 14 year old girl who is dealing with many transitions in her life. Suffering the effects of a traumatic childhood, Kate has methods of her own about how to cope and keep herself and her brother safe. But when a big change in her life is set to ruin her plans, she has to make some choices - and deal with the consequences.
Dear you is a gritty story of a young girl trying to find her place in the world - without being noticed too much. As she writes to a fictional person, who she hopes will come rescue her, you are taken into the mind and emotions of an adolescent - desperate to keep her life as 'incident-free' as possible. Kate's journey will tug at your heart strings more than once as she yearns for the attention only her mother can give. The characters of Kate and her best friend, Lena, are a wonderful mix - with the added bonus of Lena's Italian culture in there too.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it to anyone who likes Young Adult novella's, and anyone who liked the Breakfast Club. I look forward to reading Emmaline Rose's next book in the series.
Her life is so different since they all got away from their abusive father and husband, and yet she feels so alone. She writes to a pen pal who has no name or address as it seems to help a bit. Everything is so new and she is not sure how she can get away from it all. Will anyone see her? Will she get friends? Will she meet anyone who will become a friend? See how her journey of discovery goes
