Its the 60's in San Francisco. Hooking up was never "forever." Love and sex came without promises. Theres a love interest in Pillow Prayers that divides his attention between two friends. But the women are the ones who truly are the trail blazers. Struggling to find a new identity within relationship. Here is the experience of two women who have set sail for uncharted territory. But they are not as unaffected as they appear on the surface.
The story shuttles between modern times and memories of a different generation. Ms. Murray takes us into the community of San Francisco in the 60's/ early 70's. Its a memory jog for those who lived it, in any town in those days. Margaret writes with a deep understanding and compassion for her characters hearts and minds.
