This was non problematic, older MCs with a cute back story between a hot cop and his childhood fantasy man (who now runs a shop)
My fave parts is realistic sex where he says his knees hurt 🤣 because same my dude, same.
I fucking loved them. What a nice change from all the hideous BL that you just have to turn a blind eye to its flaws (ie questionable consent or lack thereof) because.. ✨good plot or good smut✨ It’s nice to read a BL with substance 👁️👅👁️
The older I get, the more I feel an affinity with mature love stories. The term "mature" in this context doesn't merely fall in the classification of a story as Rated R; rather, it refers to narratives that delve into the lives of individuals who have lived their lives, individuals who have attained adulthood but still grapple with personal challenges. This story adeptly encapsulates this. The author fearlessly presents characters in their forties and thirties, unflinchingly depicting the complexities of their experiences.
I have a weakness for love stories in which the protagonists are older.
While I understand that young love has its own charm, there is something special about two people finding happiness in their 30s and 40s. This is the kind of love story that we should see represented way more often, imo.
We follow Seiji, ex-police officer, cat and small store owner, and Shin, ex-delinquent, police officer and hopelessly in love with Seiji.
Seiji is so… Charismatic. He's so free-spirited, honest, and good-natured. He can be too much, but he's hilarious, it's impossible not to love him. Plus, I couldn't stop thinking about how pretty he is, I can't blame Shin for being so smitten by him.
Shin is his polar opposite, much more sensitive, sweet and reserved, yet they work so well together; his adoration towards Seiji is as heartwarming as it gets, really. And the way Seiji, as laid back as he is, took their relationship seriously at all times and respected Shin's feelings… Help, I can't.
5/5 stars, starting the second volume as I write this.
I'm back again with some manga reads ♡♡ This time I read My Dearest Patrolman and it was quite adorable! I had such a good time reading this last night and I enjoyed it lots. I cannot wait for volume 2 and see what new stuff the mangaka brings to the story.
I love the "I've been in love with you for YEARS" trope so much. And this manga has it!!! °❀⋆. Shin has been in love with Seiji for 10 WHOLE YEARS. From the moment he saved Shin, he was a goner. He became a cop because of Seiji, because he wanted to be the one who would protect him, and he got the surprise of his life when he returns and Seiji is now working in his family's little market. But that doesn't stop Shin and he's so ready to finally make Seiji see that they're perfect together.
I didn't expect the EXPLICITY in the sex scenes oh my god??? I'm shocked lmao but yeah so this is a warning that it has some 18+ content and everything is shown.
As a delinquent teen, Shin was mentored and protected by a friendly patrolman, Seiji. Having one supportive adult in his life completely turned Shin's life around and he also decided to become a patrolman. Years later, Shin and Seiji meet again, and Shin decides to confess the feelings he's been nursing for a decade. Lighthearted dating hijinks ensue! Strikes a nice balance between silly, sweet, and spicy.
Love story with an age gap with the younger man pining for the older man for a decade. The older man has a sense of humour and the younger man has a more serious demeanor. There isn’t a lot of context for the story so it progresses to the bedroom quite quickly and with a fair amount of detail. There is, however, a cute cat 😺
Happy Pride Month! I’ll be reading two books in June that represent the LGBTQ+ community. The goal is to have these books finished by the end of this month.
Now for the review. Ok, so this is my first time reading boy love (BL), and My Dearest Patrolman did not disappoint! This story is hilariously funny due to Seiji’s sense of humor and lack of seriousness. On the other hand, Shin is always serious. There were many times when I laughed out loud. Because of that, I also loved Seiji and Shin’s contrasting personalities. Additionally, I love the cute and sweet romance between Seiji and Shin. The spice in My Dearest Patrolman fits well with the story, and the spice was well deserved. Considering that Shin waited for a whole decade. Literally could not put this book down. Overall, a light, airy read.
Things I loved about My Dearest Patrolman: -BL romance -Humor -Spice -Cute and sweet moments between Seiji and Shin
Seiji is an old man who used to be a cop but when his mother died, he had to take care of her business which small market place. Shin was a teenager when he met Seiji and thanks to him being kinda like his “mentor”, he decided he wanted to become a cop too, so he could protect him in return.
You see, Seiji is a person who charms everyone with his easy-going personality and Shin falls in love with him even if he is an older guy. He confesses his 10-year-crush to Seiji and the old man gives him a chance ‘cause he’s too damn cute to let it pass.
Their interaction at the beginning is more like buddies, since Seiji has never dated a man; on the other hand, Shin finally has everything he wanted by being able to touch, kiss and hug Seiji. Actually, even with their 10-year gap between them, the way they treat each other is rather cute, hilarious and overall entertaining.
Also, Seiji is a proud cat-dad and I loved it! I laughed out loud several times during this volume so I can’t wait to read the next volume!
Oh, my God! This is so cute and funny!!!!! Been a while seen I encounter a nothing but fluffy read! I like it so so much! Although, too smutty for me, but taking that off, it's really adorable! I can't stop thinking of Shin as Jean in AoT tho hahahah and why is Seiji so freaking cute!!! Nosebleeds everywhere! I really really like it! On my way to the next volume!
By the way, I like that badge of honor stuff, I love that they got matching scars. I'm so into parallelism, that is why I'm hooked! It's really cute!
This is one of my favourite manga that has came out so far for this year. It was really nice to see the main characters are over 30s, so that was nice.
This was pretty cute, pretty spice as well so cart wait for vol 2
This was wonderful. We have main characters in their 30s, 10 years of pining, a slow and gentle buildup to some super steamy scenes, and a cat. What else could you ask for?
A sexy swoony read about two guys getting together after 10 years!
I was on the hunt for some fun manga and then in German because seriously English manga are very expensive (just to compare one of the manga I got in German was around 6-7 euro… in English that same manga would be 13 euro). I found several including this sexy Yaoi manga that looked SO SO good. I mean, that cover already spoke volumes to me and then there is the blurb. I just needed to get this one!
In this manga we meet Seiji, a guy working at the store but he used to be police officer (until things happened) and Shin is a guy who is police officer. These two have a past! 10 years ago Seiji was there for Shin when he was a younger guy and getting in trouble often. He motivated him to be a cop and also protected him during a fight. I just loved that the author gives us flashbacks to those times. Both from Shin and Seiji’s POV. I loved that Shin got the feels for Seiji, but then waited for him. Yep, 10 years of waiting. And I wonder if they would have gotten together, given this a chance, if Seiji hadn’t said that he was considering dating boys because he has no luck with girls. Haha. I would like to think that yes, yes they would.
I really loved both these guys. They were so fun, sometimes a bit childish/silly, but mostly very mature and I love that Shin gave Seiji that time to think about things. Yes, sure, they did tons of sexy things, but they also talked.
I had such a laugh at the cat of our MC who constantly got in the way when they were hot and bothered. It would just poke its head in the situation and stare at them or just move around them. Kitty was wondering what their owner was up to. Hihi.
Another thing that doesn’t always happen in yaoi… is consent. Well, there is plenty of that in this one! Yes, there is one stolen kiss, but our MC doesn’t mind it that much, even gives the other guy a funny nickname which I just found adorable. But everything else is full consent. I loved that when things weren’t working for their first sex moment they decided to just wait and check out things on the net on how it would work (aka no ripping of butts).
Something I absolutely loved and something that is pretty rare in yaoi manga, is the fact that we didn’t have any funny censoring. I am getting tired of glowing bars, tired of glowing orbs, tired of seeing people just touch a golden bar. In this one? We saw all the deets. From pubic hair to balls. Everything was visible and while I had to get used to it because hello I am so used to that annoying censoring I loved it quite soon. So happy that for once it wasn’t laughable but sexy. Not having to snort because we saw something squirt out of a white blob. XD
The art was also very good and I love the character designs. The sexy scenes were hot and sizzling and I love how the author drew them.
All in all, I NEED NEED the second volume of this hot and sweet manga. I need to know how Seiji and Shin get on and if they are truly going into a relationship now.
This is one of my most favourite BL comics, it is so sweet and SO funny and I absolutely love Niyama's art style/character design. It is so refreshing to have a light/realistic story with older/mature characters. Also, they're cat dads and there are so many dick jokes.
1. Instant Love. A slower burn (especially with bi-awakenings) would be preferred. 2. The typical and total lack of Consent. This one came very close but saved itself just in the nick of time.
The title of this book can also be translated to Boku no Omawarisan [Dear My Police!!; My Pretty Policeman; My Dearest Cop]
After 10 years, Seiji, an ex cop turned store owner bumps into Shin, a delinquent turned cop. One day Seiji jokingly makes a comment about him being 40 and still single and that maybe he should "switch to guys". Shin takes that opportunity to confess to Seiji and tell him that he's been in love with him for 10 years. And that's how the story starts.
This story was very refreshing. Seiji is funny and easygoing. Shin is caring, gentle and mature. I love how realistic the story was and how well they harmonized even though there is a 10 year gap between the two main characters. Their progress from confessing to moving in to balancing their relationship and their respective jobs was very well portrayed. Be aware that there is also additional chapters that would make up a volume 2 of sorts that I highly recommend. It seems the author released the chapters individually for folks to purchase. Definitely recommend this title for fujoshis/ fudanshis that are 25+.
I have read this manga so many times, I just can't get enough of it. I just love Shin & Seiji and don't forget Chico the cat. It is very sweet, wholesome, and fluffy and has some hot sexy scenes. Shin is such a sweetheart and a kiss thief according to Seiji! Having an MC being over 40 was a nice change, I just love a good age-gap romance. Seeing the guys from the previous book was an added bonus!
**
