I’ve been in Houston, Texas, writing novels and designing websites since 2009. Moving here was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, because I’ve been able to live wonderfully, and write my heart out. I’ve always enjoyed the arts in one form or another. Music sets the mood, reading stimulates my brain, and writing allows me to utilize my imagination in any way I want. I’ve been writing stories since I was a teen, and figured out it was my passion when I finished my first novel, Something About Eve.
I love being captivated by books that lead me into different, exotic places, and through impossible scenarios. I love being able to become someone else for a time. Reading has always inspired me to bring my own characters out to play. My hope is that my writing will inspire others, or at the least, give them a way to escape from everyday life for a little while.
If I'm not writing or reading, I'm training for triathlons. It's a good way to challenge my body the way I challenge my brain when writing. I'm not the greatest at it, but not only do I do it for the challenge, I do it for charity. It's a good motivation. :)
4.5 stars, the book has a bit of a slow start but once it gets going, it's hard to put down. The tension/pull between the two MC's Lainey & Eve is still magnetic. There is a bit of soul searching & grieving, about their past decisions and actions. Both women are working to deal with their feelings & current situations. Each breaking through at different points to come to an epiphany with their standoff. Lainey's son Kevin plays a big part in her decision. The good doctor who is handling Eve's therapy, lets each come to the inevitable outcome on their own.
I was frustrated with the end of volume one and, as a result of that, skipped book two. This one, now, was all I hoped for from the beginning of the tale about Eve and Lainey. Add to that the character of Willamena plus the therapy sessions and it made the perfect read out of volume three for me. No hesitance at all for clicking five stars here.
As I have just come from watching the Game of Thrones final I can honestly say this is what a conclusion looks like. It took six years to wait for this but it was well worth it. The thing I love the most about Kelly is that when it was all said and done it wasn't just because they wanted to be together, that most certainly played a part in it but frankly it was also Eve and Lainey wanting a better life for themselves or choosing to be happy. The chemistry between the two is sizzling, the jokes are funny and the therapy sessions reveal so much background on Eve's emotions that it's staggering and so satisfactory. That said I was surprised by Adam's character development a bit but it wasn't that out of character except for maybe that outcome of the conflict in the end. Jack on the other hand was totally unsurprising. Some might say that he changed from previous books I on the other hand thought his patience had run its course and he showed his true colours when after he realised that Lainley wouldn't 'obey' him anymore. I want to say more but I don't want to spoil anything more and frankly nothing I say will make people understand how good this book truly is until they read it.
This book was a looooong time coming!! It did not disappoint whatsoever. Jourdyn Kelly has done it again. If you loved the previous books in the series, you will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book!! 'The Truth About Eve' will take you on a fascinating and intense journey of an intricate woman with complex relationships. You will not be disappointed!! I have wanted to describe, 'The Truth About Eve', like a fine wine. For whatever the reason, this is how describing this book resonates with me. It is a wonderful read and I felt wine descriptors could do some justice in describing it. This book is like a full-bodied wine. It is a rich, complex, well-rounded read that lingers in the mind. It has a great start with a sublime finish. The characters are like a fine wine with top-notch distinguishing qualities. Lainey Stanton is crisp, she denotes a fresh, thoughtful mind with good acidity. Lainey is a little spicy at times with others underestimating her true inner strength. Eve Sumptor is full-bodied, rich in extracts with a pronounced finish. She is one to never underestimate at anytime! Never mistake her kindness for weakness. The sessions with Dr. Woodrow are like a fine wine, aged in oak barrels. Solid, complex with flavour that lingers after each taste. After reading the sessions, they will stay with you and linger long after the page has turned. The sessions with Dr. Woodrow are honest and raw, exposing many layers of a complicated Eve. The lingering taste left by 'The Truth About Eve' will leave you wanting a full-bodied adventure with a wonderful crisp finish. This is a book you will enjoy reading without a doubt, you sincerely won't be disappointed!
Eve and Lainey have been on this intense journey and now they both have tough choices to make.
I love how the therapy sessions was incorporated into the story. I knew Jack was an a** but I was surprise the way he treated his sons I know he stuck in his ways but wow.
Adam turn out to be a** also which really surprise me because I really thought he was this up standing guy and even though he might get hurt if Eve choose Lainey he would've step aside because he love her that much but he turn out to be what Eve thought he never will be greedy bastard.
Even though I was rooting for Eve to choose Lainey I didn't want Adam hurt now Jack deserve to lose Lainey.
Lainey and Kevin relationship remind me of Ellie and Jesse loved the parallel between Lainey and Kevin conversation and Eve and Adam conversation and it's nice surprise twist with Kevin that I really love.
I love this quote
You don't love someone because they're perfect. You love them in spite of the fact they're not.
That's what Lainey did she love Eve flaws and all and Adam loved the idea of Eve and wants that image crack he became what she always dealt with.
This was a great heartwarming story that had you wish there was more. I know we going to see these characters in her future books interacting with her new characters so I know this isn't goodbye it's see you later.
Seriously could not put this book down from start to finish. You can choose to read this as a standalone, or start from the beginning of ‘An Eve Sumptor Novel’ series. Either way, BUY AND READ, it is completely worth the binge read. Jourdyn Kelly is a great writer and I cannot say it enough. With this story, you will have encompassed yourselves as if you were watching it, or rather, feeling it with your own eyes and own emotions. I laughed, I cried, and I felt for each of the characters in this book. What a great novel and I highly recommend this and every single one of Jourdyn Kelly’s books for your reading repertoire.
Ahhhhhh, it took 3 books but finally we got the ending we wanted. Eve can't paint anymore and both Lainey and Adam think she should see a psychiatrist. But the delve into so much to get to her problem. A great read, and an awesome ending! 5 stars!
So many things are going through my head at once. One thing I do wish is I stopped reading after flawed perfection, the second book in the series it was a perfect ending for me. I enjoyed the writing and going into more details to deal with Eve’s mental health but for me it just ruined all the characters in the story completely. I fell in love with Adam’s patience, Lainey’s sweetness and Eve’s perseverance but in the end for me they were just selfish people. It was a great series that I loved and enjoyed, just wasn’t the happy ending I was looking for and didn’t expect.
The Truth About Eve is a fabulous, fitting completion to the story of Eve and Lainey. While it can be read alone, I highly recommend starting from the beginning so you can understand the underlying feelings/stories expressed and the true evolution of not only Eve and Lainey but the rest of the characters. Jourdyn Kelly has provided us with a deeply introspective look into the characters that continues to bring them to life through family relationships and dynamics, personal turmoil, and the ultimate acceptance of oneself. Thank you for such an outstanding story!
Ms Kelly was seriously playing with my emotions with this couple. How many years has it been??? I was hoping and wishing and wondering when, why and WHYYYY Jourdyn Kelly??? Why play me like that?! But she came through and now I feel like I can breathe. Eve got her happy ending.
I suggest to read the other books in the series to really get the picture. But be prepared, there’s a lot of angst.
I was so disappointed after reading #2 in this series I almost didn't open the 3rd book. When I did I realized the author had returned to story telling after writing a sexed-up book that had zero appeal to me due to the choices made by the characters. Thankfully, Kelly returned to telling Eve and Lainey's story, and even managed a happy ending for them and the kids.
Overall excellent writing, character development, and pacing.
Absolutely amazing! Not enough good a can say about it. Such strong character development. Truly pulls at your hearts strings. Jourdyn Kelly makes you feel as you truly know the main characters on a personal level. I’ve read it twice and will likely read it more!
I love the book and that it deals with real life situations that some people find themselves in. Can’t wait to see what happens next for Lainey and Eve
Loved this book! Thank You Jourdyn Kelly for the happy ending we the readers wanted and needed. Eve and Lainey have fast become my favorite couple but it’s their love for each other that transcends into so much more. Their deep connection and the way they can truly read what the other is feeling or thinking is such a breath stopper. In this book and with Jourdyn’s writing you felt the love deep in our core. I really hope their story continues.
Eve and Lainey go through so much in the previous books that I thought the happy ever after would never happen. The third book put that right. Love conquers all. Eve had to go through hell to reach it but with the help of Dr. Woodrow she got there in the end.
Eve Sumpter is a very strong, confidant woman who has impeccable artistic ability. She owns a prestigious art gallery in New York City. She is powerful, wealthy and influential. She has only been able to show her true self and be loved for who she is including her baggage by one woman who captured her heart years earlier, Lainey.
Lainey has never known true love until Eve. She got married young to a man she never truly loved. He tossed aside Lainey's degree and expected her to be a devoted homemaker, have children right away and stay home raising them, while making sure dinner was on the table when he came in the door after a days work.
Lainey & Eve's lives changed the day their eyes first met. They have both tried to hold their emotions in check which has been a huge struggle for them both once Eve decided to marry Adam. They never spoke about the love in their hearts for each other that ran so much deeper than just best friends. They both convinced the other that they loved their husbands.
Eve felt she didn't deserve to be loved because of the trauma in her childhood. Adam had become jealous of Lainey because he knew Eve held back from him but was open with Lainey.
Eve & Lainey worked together at Eve's local gallery. They traveled together to open new galleries or find new artists.
When Eve's past came back to try and destroy her by taking everyone she loved away from her she added to security details on each one. They managed to capture Adam. While he was being held captive, he learned Eve and Lainey had been lover's. Eve had to admit this was true while Adam was tied to a chair being tortured. During this event, Eve took a bullet meant for Lainey.
Lainey was going through turmoil at home with Jack. Eve's love and unwavering friendship had helped Lainey regain her confidence and become a stronger person. Jack hated that Eve had changed Lainey. She was no longer submissive, no longer obeyed him. She took off on her work trips leaving him with the boys. Jack wanted the boys to learn to be men by playing football and going into the service. His older son Kevin quit football and this outraged Jack. His younger son Darren was a comic artist. He was writing and designing comics. His father forbade him to continue because that wouldn't teach him how to be a man.
Eve lost her passion for painting and couldn't understand why. She went to see a therapist who had Eve breaking down her life from childhood. It was torture for her but she wanted to find her passion again. The therapy sessions were very draining and Adam was running out of patience.
It was all coming to a head for both women and decisions needed to be made.
You need to read this book to see what is going to happen to these families!!! What a series!! So much heartache, death, learning and growing...... Decisions......Incredible writing that keeps you turning the pages!!
I struggle with how to explain my feelings on this final installment in the “Eve Sumpter” series. On the one hand, it’s everything I could have hoped for in a conclusion. So many questions are answered and wrongs are righted. Prior character decisions that made little sense are explained, and Lainey and Eve end up together in a way that feels real and right. I think part of the reason this book reads so well is because the underdeveloped thriller plot lines that weighed down the previous two books are absent from this one; instead you get a clear and well-thought out character story that’s more honest than either of its predecessors, and it’s everything the characters (and readers) deserve in the end.
The one issue I have with it is the fact that, in righting the wrongs of decisions made in the past, the author effectively rendered book 2 (“Flawed Perfections”) null and void. Book 2 already reads like a cringey hay fever dream with how deliriously happy Adam and Eve are and all the pages and pages and *pages* of explicit sex they have. To be honest, I really struggled to make it through book 2 because it was just not my cup of tea. But Eve seemed so SURE that Adam was “the love of her life” (her words), to the point where she was almost cruel to Lainey the few times Lainey revealed she was still struggling with having feelings for Eve. In those moments, Eve essentially told Lainey that that’s Lainey’s problem and she will just have to work through her issues because Adam is the one for Eve and that’s that.
But then in this final installment, it turns out that Eve was just lying to herself and over-exaggerating her feelings for Adam for various reasons. It’s a revelation that would make more sense if book 2 hadn’t been written with such conviction. But it was, and there’s just no walking that back. And to be honest, it’s kind of annoying that I struggled through an entire book I found difficult to stomach just to be told it was all a lie.
I guess I would just counsel any authors against writing books they plan to entirely contradict later in their series. It’s an odd choice, and a discombobulating one for your readers.
Still. This final installment is really, really good. The issue of book 2 aside, it was an absolutely perfect ending. You could tell it was written with intention and heart, and I adored it. Honorable mentions go out to Kevin and Dr. Woodrow, who were the endlessly delightful, surprise MVP’s of this finale. Bravo to the author for a job well done.

This was the last book I read for 2019 and while it's certainly not my favorite, it is ending the year on a high note! This is the only title I've read of the "Eve Sumptor" series but the author does a pretty great job of summing up where all of the characters are after the events of previous books so I had no trouble at all following. The story plays out slowly, so much so that I was skimming through many of the initial chapters. There is also a lot of repetition of the "I feel guilty for xyz" statements which to me lost all meaning fairly quick. I wasn't a fan of the therapy scenes, which unfortunately are about half of this book--they too seemed to cover the exact same ground over and over. And normally I tend to roll my eyes at these lesfic characters that are just swimming in money, but after awhile I actually grew to like Eve Sumptor. The author did a tremendous job of making sure these two main characters of Eve and Lainey, though fairly cliched, were likeable and relatable. This still didn't quite feel like a fully fleshed out book, but instead a plot-lite epilogue to the series. This was pretty good for the non-fan but I'm sure would be wholly satisfying to those who have been with these characters from the beginning.
"Art is never a guarantee. Make sure that the people in your life are."
"Decisions are a strange thing. What you think is the right decision at the moment could turn out to be the worst decision you've ever made."
"No one should strive to be someone else. Only the best version of themselves. Even in their flaws, there is perfection."
This is the third book in the Eve Sumptor series. It could be read as a standalone, but it is much better to read the previous two books, "Something About Eve" and "Flawed Perfection" to get the depth of the relationship between Eve and Lainey.
Jourdyn Kelly does a wonderful job showing a myriad of emotions both individually as well as within the relationships. In the first two books, Eve battled some incredible demons. In this book, she is battling her toughest opponent: herself.
You will laugh, get angry, probably cry, and cheer! The success of a book is when the author makes you feel. Jourdyn does an excellent job of making the characters believable. I loved the boys' development in this book! Bella was adorable!
She incorporates characters from her L.A. Lovers Series, which are highly recommended as well.
“Why was it that lying to Eve instead of about her is what felt wrong?”
“Both experienced the deep connection they had to each other. One they thought would eventually fade. After all this time, it only grew stronger.”
“I believe that the one thing we forget as we get caught up in our lives is that we’re all adults. We may get hurt or hurt the people we care about, but we’re resilient. We move on. Unless you refuse to let yourself live, you move on.”
“After everything she’d been through in life, it was love that broke her.” • ~ • ~ • ~ •
FINALLY!!!
I swear, this series got better every book— especially considering how high the bar was set with the first one!! But, once again, Jourdyn Kelly delivered in spectacular fashion!!! After SOOOO long, (YES—sarcastic overdramatizations are necessary!!) Eve & Lainey finally feel at peace with their lives, their loves & their friendship!! & that's contentment that's LONG overdue!!
I'm just hoping that there will be more in this series because the characters' are incredible & still left need—(WANT!!) DESPERATELY—to continue following their lives, endeavors, journeys & futures.
This is the book I’ve been waiting the whole series for.
I mean, I don’t love Jack’s transformation. But damn it needed to happen, if that’s what it took to free Lainey. Developments with Adam seemed a bit more natural.
But what I really loved is the future felt like it was back in Eve and Lainey’s hands again. It wasn’t just stuff happening to them, it wasn’t that what they were trying to do didn’t work (I’m sorry, book 2 was a bit scarring)… They got to work through issues, make decisions, take control of their lives.
I thought the therapy sessions were fantastic, and definitely added a lot to the story. I thought the writing was better than in the prior books. I feel like Eve and Lainey are finally getting the payoff they worked so hard for, through the entire series up to this point. This is so much what I needed after the last two books!
I guess my only real concern is… do I dare read the fourth? It would ruin everything if it was back like the second again. The ratings suggest I should, though… so I expect I will.
Well deserved rating of 5 for 'The Truth About Eve'. This is the third in the series and You can read this book as a standalone but I would recommend you to buy and read the first two books 'Something About Eve' and 'Flawed Perfection'.
Eve (Owner of Sumptor galleries) and Lainey (Eve's assistant, best friend, ex-lover) are fighting their feelings for each other while Eve is married to Adam and have a beautiful daughter and Lainey is married to Jack and and have two wonderful boys. Eve has lost her painting passion and is going through therapy with an awesome mindreader shrink. The sessions are worth reading and help discover Eve her feelings. Author Jordyn Kelly has penned them so beautifully you feel yourself alive with all those feelings - friendship, fear, guilt, desparation and pure love.
The story takes surprising turns with Jack, Adam and Kevin. I like the strong rapport between Lainey and her son. I dont want to spoil the fun any further...Highly Recommended to all fans of lesfic.
P.S.: I am usually a one time reader only but I have read Eve and Lainey books again and again
It was heart-wrenching in its portrayal of both Eve's and Lainey's struggle to not cause any further difficulties in the other's marriage/relationship with their respective spouses. But so rewarding in how it ended.
I did not read the 1st and 2nd book and although that of course provides a backstory to this book, I do not feel it is necessary to do so especially knowing how both ended (i.e. not happily in my view).
The therapy sessions provided a lot of the background and already made reading this book quite angsty so I don't think I could bear reading the 1st book and even worse, the 2nd.
I am just so happy that both Eve and Lainey got their happily ever after. I must have read this book 3 times just to savour all the nuances of the story and how much each loved the other.
I totally recommend this book but beware the awful history concerning Eve.
I'm in awe in the creativity in the story development. I shouldn't ask for more but I must beg for more. Eve is such an astonishing character on her own but with Lainey by her side only brings out the fullness of life. Through the course of their life (taken from what seem like a short period of time) I am drawn to appreciate the way they faced the challenges of having love and finding their way to the choices they made. They compliment each other in more ways. Their strength is enhanced more when they faced the ups and downs.
I had to read this book twice with just a short break in between. First to find out what happens and the next was for pure pleasure of reading. I must admit that I flip to the end almost right away but the pleasure of reading was definitely in the adventure.
The Truth About Eve is one of my favorite stories that I’ve ever read. The book gave Lainey and Eve the finish that they deserved. I loved the dialogue between Lainey and her eldest son. I loved how therapist made Eve really dig deep into the root of her problems and helped her thoroughly analyze the solution that would help her reach the happiness that she desperately needed to live her life to the fullest. The dialogue between Eve and Adam was awesome and I wasn’t’t surprised how that turned out. It was awesome the dialogue between Lainey and jack also because we really got to see who he was as a person. The author did a great job of tying up the loose ends of the second book because the reader will finally get the ending they dreamed of but even then you’ll still want more. I hope for another book one day.
I stumbled across ‘Something About Eve’ a couple of weeks ago and as soon as I started reading I didn’t put the book down. In the first book I fell in love with Eve and Lainey and wished for a happy ending for the both of them, so I was a tiny bit gutted with how the last book finished. I then noticed that ‘The Truth About Eve’ came out just as I was about to go to bed, I couldn’t wait until the morning and I had to start reading it. I completely fell in love with the characters all over again and the book was just written beautifully. The chemistry between Eve and Lainey is something else. I highly recommend reading this book, you will not be disappointed!
Oh my god....I just finished the third installment of the something about Eve series and I have no words. Its easily the best storyline I have read in many years. I laughed, cried and felt their pain deep in my soul. Lainey's and Eve's story was filled with love, heartbreak, pain, sorrow and passion. I wont give any spoilers but I will say I felt every emotion imaginable. This author is quite talented and painted a beautiful, painful picture that I could 100 percent relate to. Does love really conquer all? Read them in order and you be the judge. To sum it up, it was a beautiful chaotic mess that left me speechless...
I would read The Truth About Eve again and, having read it, would have stayed with my initial decision to forego Book 2, Flawed Perfection.
While I have been engaged by the suspense and peril plotted in the Eve Sumptor series, I couldn’t understand Book 2’s submersion of Eve into her marriage to Adam — it didn’t seem consistent with the character.
I also wish I had skipped Book 2 to avoid the graphic sex scenes between Eve and Adam.
Book 3 is back on track with the story of Eve that earned my interest in Book 1.
As important, the writing in Book 3 was vastly better than the flawed verb tenses, grammar, and word choices published in Books 1 and 2.
