‘Stay strong. Strength is your weapon.’ - Words spoken to Elizabeth early into the novel. This is a tale of just that: a woman using her strength to survive, and eventually, as a weapon.

This is a story of resilience, determination, strength, loyalty, true love, forgiveness, and so much more. It’s also a great escape from life and this book brought me back to the 1800s. I couldn’t help but noticed some similarities to today, and how people, regardless of advancements they make, and evolution can still be the same at the core. Because this is also a story of what greed will do and how destructive it can be.

Even with all the darkness Crystal goes through, Barrie manages to provide an escape from life. Perhaps it’s the setting of a different time or Crystal’s determination … either way it works to hook the reader, at least in my case.

Whether or not you’ve read Alana, while I strongly recommend both, this is no less enjoyable and enough background is provided to understand Crystal’s journey.

A Well Written Novel

A Long Complex Adventurous Story.
A good well written plot with interesting characters throughout the book. It is full of mysteries, adventures and historical romance to make me keep turning the pages.There is to much detailed sex in the book, I put it down numerous times not wanting to read any more, I did learn to skip the detail sex scenes and fInished the book. This is the second book in the series.
