EJ Handler is the perpetual class clown, but he’s also a loyal friend and dedicated worker at the tech company he helped found. Friendship and work are the only commitments he needs. Yet a dangerous scandal quickly upsets his laid back life and dredges up the old heartaches that made him fear responsibility in the first place. His only hope rests in his faith and the reluctant assistance of a mysterious female detective.
Sloan is a tough, unemployed cop with a penchant for taking on the cares of the world by herself, when an unexpected job offer gives her the opportunity to do what she loves. Little does she know that a simple job will bring the infuriating, but endearing EJ and a chance at the friendships she’s avoided for so long.

Even though this was the third book in a trilogy it can be read as a stand-alone. I really enjoyed this book. I thought the author did a good job with each of the characters. I loved the fact that faith was apart of their everyday lives. I loved seeing how they each developed throughout. This book had a mystery villain which I figured out but was fun to see how it all played out. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves mystery faith filled suspense romance novels!
'It's a season, Sloan. Just a season. Another time and place for God to meet you."
This was such a powerful story of grace and redemption in the midst of difficult circumstances. I loved the above quote and how it was delivered at a pivotal point in the book, where Marion Sloan comes to a point of grasping the things that are happening to her all at once. This is book 3 in the Offer of Grace series. It can definitely be read as a stand-alone as the author has summed up enough what happened in past books enough that you don't NEED the history, but there is some added depth if you've read the other 2 books first. I would recommend reading them in order if you do read all of them, but again each could stand on their own.
This book focuses on a couple of characters who were minor characters in the other books in the series, Marion Sloan and EJ Handler. Both of their personalities were a bit defined in the prior books - Sloan is rigid and strict and avoids relationships at all costs, while EJ is the computer nerd who loves to play games and have fun and doesn't get up early - ever. It was interesting to learn more about their pasts in this book to see what makes them who they are. It was also fun to see their interactions because they are such different people. Both with similarly troubled histories, they find common ground as they work together to find a blackmailer in their midst.
This book was a lot of fun, but was also very serious, delving into some difficult subjects. The characters were quirky and relateable, as well as likable. The mystery was intense. I was able to figure out the culprit early on, but that didn't make it any less interesting or exciting. The romance was good, moved at a decent clip (not too rushed as is often the case with romantic suspense) and there was a lot going on outside of the romance and mystery as well as the characters delved into pasts they'd liked to have kept hidden and find grace and redemption waiting there. I enjoyed the dialogue and getting to see a different side of both of the main characters. For fans of the series, Regina and Mac are still prominent to the story line and Jasmine has a very solid role as well. I just adore Jasmine and I loved her spirit in this book. I would strongly recommend this one to lovers of inspirational novels, romantic suspense and contemporary and cozy mysteries.
Special thanks to the author for an advanced e-copy of this book. I was not obligated to leave a positive review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.
This is A new to me author and I thought she has done a wonderful job with this story!! For by Grace we are saved and because we need only to ask to be saved. I know that this shouldn't be so hard but for some people it is. God is a loving God God is a jealous God with no other gods before Him. He only wants our hearts. The only thing I didn't really like was the use of Sloans' last name throughout the book. I'm wondering why the author didn't just call her Marion since that's obviously her name I thought that each person in the story was well rounded out brought to life perfectly. They were easy to make friends with and I hated to say goodbye as usual to a good story I loved that this was page turning book with twist after twist to make you read after midnight to finish this book and yes I was up pretty late last night. I love when stories make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Even the little bit of romance was wonderful and not overdone. Excellent job Chloe Flanagan!! I shall be looking for more from you I received a complimentary copy from the author with no compensations received and all opinions are my own!!
This was the first book I've read by Chloe S. Flanagan and I was impressed. Early on I figured out who I thought was blackmailing Mac, Regina, and E.J.'s company, but I didn't see the twists that the author had in store. I enjoyed the story so much that I'm going to go back and read the first two books of this series.
The characters are developed well throughout the story. The POV characters are interesting and feel like old friends. I like Sloan and E.J. together and was rooting for them to become a couple and I like that faith was discussed as a normal part of the characters lives. They lived their faith. I highly recommend this series! I did receive an advance copy of the book from the author but was under no obligation to provide a review.
This book had me hooked from the very first paragraph! The suspense was wonderful with nice twists and turns. The romance was sweet and not at all superficial, which is one thing that bothers me about most romance stories. I will definitely be reading more from this author. I received a copy of this book from the author for review. My opinions are entirely my own.
This is a great book!! I really enjoyed it. I had a suspicion of who did it, and I was right! I didn't expect the things that happened, which was great!! I like suspense, but I also like knowing that my suspicions are correct, but have twists I don't expect, and this book did that!! I also like the way the characters evolved, and grew in their roles. I received an advance copy of this book; however, this review is totally my own opinion.
Overview: A dangerous scandal upsets a tech founder’s laid back lifestyle and dredges up old heartaches. His only hope to reclaim his life rests in his faith and the reluctant assistance of a tough, unemployed cop with a penchant for taking on the cares of the world by herself.
Chloe Flanagan’s pulse-pounding mystery romance novel, “No Longer A Stranger”, provides plenty of suspense and thrills as it takes readers along on a quest to find a blackmailer who is trying to ruin a socially awkward tech cofounder’s life with accusations of an attempted kidnapping. Flanagan builds a tight plotline around the associates and dear friends of the accused who are also the firm’s owners and parents of the adopted daughter who was the victim of the crime. Flanagan also builds her plotline on the backgrounds of her characters, giving the reader a connection between what happened in the past and how those circumstances are affecting the present.
This story is a poignant reminder of God’s good grace and how there is a season for every joy and heartbreak in one’s life. From early on, it’s somewhat easy to predict the person responsible for the extortion plot against EJ Handler, however, as the author delves into the responsible individual’s mind, the motives revealed are somewhat unexpected and quite fascinating to follow.
Using self-reflection and a strong interdependence on faith and morality, the author demonstrates how God is always present in our everyday lives. Faith, hope, and yes... even charity play a major role in this Christian-based suspense novel and all three factors of belief lead Flanagan’s unlikely pairing of EJ and Sloan into a romance that seems destined to last.
I highly recommend No Longer A Stranger” for readers who enjoy clean, feel-good romance that provides plenty of character history, interaction, suspense, and—best of all—a truly satisfying ending.
Beautiful story about grace, about new beginnings, about God’s redemption, and about friendship. This story so artfully depicts how each of us have things in our past that we regret or are ashamed of, but God can redeem those places and bring something beautiful from the ashes if we let Him.
In this story you will meet a couple (Regina and Mac) and their friend EJ, who are struggling to walk with God despite a myriad of obstacles being put in their path. And not everyone they encounter understands that it’s God’s grace at work on their lives. This story brings out the fact that it’s so easy to look at others and judge them unless we understand their past and what made them who they are today. As they face some difficulties, God uses this as an opportunity to bring Marion Sloane, a previous police detective, into their lives so He can do a work on her heart as well. Will they be able to figure who is behind the lies and the threats before the individual gets desperate enough to do physical harm to them.
Some of my favorite quotes are: Don’t sacrifice your future to your past It’s a season. Just a season. Another time and place for God to meet you Series of losses and dangers that had led to her present life Each had a unique story of how Hod had pulled them through heartbreak and pain.
A failed kidnapping attempt of their adopted daughter and rumors started to discredit their business lead the MacArthurs to hire Marion Sloan as a Private Investigator to uncover the truth. During the investigation many ghosts from the past are revealed.
This fast paced mystery and romance will have you believe the pages are turning themselves. I just couldn’t wait to see what happened next. This book is written from a Christian perspective and does have a lot of Christian principles and talk throughout. It is free of cursing and does not contain any sex scenes. There are a few sections that do allude to sexual behavior.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery with some romance mixed in as well.
Marion Sloan has a troubled relationship with the Almighty. Her impulsive nature and trigger-temper gets in the way at the worst times, bringing her heartache and lots of downtrodden times. But when she's called to investigate an attempted kidnapping and corporate blackmail, she has to make peace with her past in order to move forward with her life, her career, and the man who loves her. Ms. Flanagan incorporates her characters' faith into the story smoothly, without becoming preachy. I would've liked to see a bit more of Marion's career growth in the first portion of the book and POV purists might balk at some of the jumps in scenes, but all in all, a satisfying read. While this is book 3 of a series, it can be easily read as a standalone.
This is Book #3 in this series and is Marion Sloan and E.J. Handler's story. It is an inspirational story with some twists and turns. This is a story of suspense, mystery, intrigue, a bad guy, grace, second chances and romance. You will meet some of the characters from the two earlier books in the series. The book can be read as a stand alone but would probably be of more interest if the books were read in order. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. It will keep you turning the pages for sure.
This book is full of twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. If you are looking for a book that has a little romance and a lot of suspense, grab this one. Just be warned, once you start reading , you don't want to stop!
What a great story. Humor, romance and intrigue combined in a wonderful story of the love and grace of God. I should have been sleeping a while ago, but I just had to finish the story!!!
The past comes to bear multiple times and in different forms in this book. The memories and the realities of it collide. Wonderful characters that we've met in previous books have the worst and best moments of their lives. They have joys and pains. It was wonderful watching them go through everything and learn to fall on the Lord and His community through it all.
This story was an absolute pleasure to read, it had me biting my nails in suspense, laughing out loud, crying for the characters and sighing with sweetness - what an amazing love story.
I fell in love with EJ and Sloan and they are a perfect match!
I highly recommend this well written book. If you enjoy drama, a touch of mystery and suspense and well developed characters, you will enjoy this book.
Enjoyed this book. Mostly, it was refreshing to read a book which was descriptive without vulgar language. It took a ride of unknowns, but kept my interest throughout. I’m glad to find the ending was just wonderfully blessed.
While I figured out who was behind the blackmail in No Longer a Stranger, it was Sloan and EJ’s backstories and chemistry that kept me reading the book. Chloe Flanagan reveals bits and pieces of the main characters’ histories while moving the plat along with the investigation Sloan is conducting.
With strong faith content, relatable characters, and questions surrounding motive, this book is a fast and entertaining read.
