In the hot, muddy swamps of Louisiana there is a creature that resides on haunted land inside a cursed house. The small town of Ocoee has forgotten much about what happened at that house so many years ago, its true past fading like ink on the brittle pages of history. But you know how the old saying goes… History likes to repeat itself.

James Hunt's passion for writing began at an early age. While his journal of yesteryear may never be the work of great fiction, he's been working hard every day since then to bring pages to life. James has well over a decade of writing under his belt, but his professional career in literature didn't take off until 2014.
James currently lives in Orlando, FL and when he's not pounding away at the keyboard you can find him at the theater or somewhere outside enjoying the beautiful Florida weather.
The premise was great. Voodoo, Swamp creatures, Spanish moss, old houses, what more could you want. A quarter of the book could have been chopped out as it was a trifle repetitive and this book needed an editor. Too many mistakes that took away from my reading pleasure. 3 stars for me.
Story has got decent bones but there’s a LOT of unnecessary information. Too much description and anecdotes that move your mind away from what’s actually happening.
I enjoy this author’s writing style as well as his wonderful imagination that allows him to produce such chilling plots. This is one of those books that you have to continue reading even though you want to put it down and get some fresh air so you can get the images out of your head for a while. I was mesmerized by this story and so I read it cover to cover in one sitting. The book comes alive and jumps off the pages straight into your brain! Loved it! The Curse of the House on Cypress Lane by James Hunt is an amazing story that I have read and fell in love with. This is book number three in this amazing series that I have read. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about horror, thrillers and mysteries in their stories.

Not a very catchy title is it? That combined with the disconnect in the first couple chapters of the book made it very difficult to get into a good reading rhythm. The book starts with a teenage girl being hunted in the woods outside her home in Louisiana. Her entire family is already dead, and she is murdered in her father’s truck while trying to make her escape. Then it jumps to an unemployed guy in Baltimore. It was like getting whiplash.
The unemployed guy’s name is Owen. Eventually, he takes a job in Louisiana and moves his entire family into the house where the previous tenants had all been killed. At this point the storyline made sense, but I still wasn’t attached to the characters. Disappointingly, that stopped me from feeling their fear when the house oozed to life and Owen’s son Matt was kidnapped by a swamp creature.
All of these events are brought on by a 150 year old voodoo curse. Because a grieving father killed the voodoo queen who couldn’t save his son, and shot her daughter for revenge, the queen sold her soul in order to destroy his bloodline. She became a swamp monster, known as the Bacalou.
The ending was relatively predictable. I did finally feel a connection to Owen’s wife, Claire, which was a nice surprise. All in all, I enjoyed the book and the fact it had a different nemesis than the first two books in the series.
Once I got into this novel I had a hard time putting it down, it was that good! I enjoyed the imagery created by the writer's descriptions. Even though I have never been near the Louisiana swamps I felt like it was familiar through the descriptions. I could almost smell the scents and hear the sounds. Although parts of the plot were somewhat predictable, other facets were totally surprising. This was a real page- turner and a chilling thriller.
This is by far the best haunted house mystery I have ever read. It kept me guessing the whole time. Usually I can see the story coming a mile off but the only thing I got right was Grandpa's roll. Not only is the story good but the author finished the story perfectly. Not a single loose end, just a very well written story.
This book was very different then I expected. I really felt for the family after moving things were nothing like they thought it was going to be. The Cursed family really did a lot of bad things. It was like that family had weaĺth but the curse caused worry and they used other people to try and keep their first born not to be killed. Karma happened..
James Hunt has done it once again! His books draw you in and you become part of the story. Your taken to the places and become a character in the story. I highly recommend reading this, there's some profanity, but over all a fabulous book! On to my next journey with the next book in series! Enjoy!
This book was so exciting. Swamp creatures, voodoo and plenty of creepy crawlies. There was a lot of action and twists and turns. It was definitely the scariest in the series so far.
Really enjoyed!!!! I couldn't stop reading! Finished within 24 hours. Suspensful, emotional, all together fantastic!. Loved it. Thank you for such great reading material. Can't wait to read the next. Thank you
In the swamps is a house which is surrounded by mystery which is fading after so many years. It may be long ago but it may just rise its ugly head again. What is going to happen? See by reading

An intriguing story that blends in with most of the bewitching bayou myths I have heard. I would have given 5 stars but there were some typos. No one's prefect! I will definitely follow this author.
This was a great book, the action literally started on the first page. I loved how the characters that helped the story unfold was explained with all their flaws and their strengths. I couldn't get enough of this book I wanted to see how the story ended.
I read about three of the series awhile ago. I didn’t know there were this Many books in the series. I plan to complete the series. I enjoy the mix of the supernatural and reality.
This book was fantastic I always read on my lunch break and since I started this book I have been late clocking back in because I get so lost in the book I forget to watch the clock.
There was more than just gators to be scared of in this story. I enjoyed the backstory of Queen and her followers. You could feel the fear in the Cooley family, and the love that ultimately won out. Good read!!
An amazing story involving two Voodoo Queens and a desperate family. Based in the swamps of Louisiana, this book keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time you’re reading.
I was a little worried about reading this book I actually started it at one time but put it down. Decided to give it another try I was so glad I did this was actually a good book had trouble putting it down.
This book was so scary yet you hang onto every word. Creepy crawly things, swamps, sucking mud, good vs evil...it has everything keep you enthralled from the first page to the last.
Great editing, good story, it was a little slow for me until the last quarter of the book. I would recommend. Part fantasy, part paranormal. Good ending as well, no cliffhangers.
This was truly one of the more twisted books I have read in a long time. It was also one of the saddest books I have read, it takes you to some really dark places and then it ,twists and throws you down another dark tunnel. It will keep you up all night. ;)
A Parent's Worst Nightmare Mixed with VooDoo and Revenge
Most people know that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Owen and his family find out just how realistic this can be when they discover that his new boss expects the ultimate sacrifice.
I enjoyed the description of heat and Spanish moss. I have lived in that heat, and I felt the humidity right along with the characters. I love old houses and their stories. On to book #4!
I probably would have rated the first half of this book 4 stars, then it kept going. I loved the intense action in the beginning. I could see this being a movie on the SciFi network. It had great elements but got stale and boring in the end and I skimmed the last 30% just to finish.
Excellent, a little more scary than his other mysteries. Sorry no hints here. I had to keep going or sneak a page or two while I took care of the family.
