This is the second book in this series, and I must tell you that it’s probably one of the better books I’ve read in a while. Why, you ask? Well, the emotions that it elicited from me were wide and varied including anger, frustration, shock (OMG, especially the end!), betrayal, so many feelings (and yes, some good ones, too). I even had to stop reading at a couple of points because I was just so angry. Dystopian/futuristic/NA books aren’t really my favorite, and you would think I wouldn’t like this book, but I did. Great storytelling with an enthralling plot kept me engaged throughout the whole book. Prejudice is ugly no matter who it’s aimed at and this book just shows that…and how it can blind you to the truth. Read this book; it’s well worth a read: entertaining and enlightening. Highly recommend this book, and I received a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Part 2 of Sapiens Run takes place just after part 1, in which Shelby’s brother was brutally murdered, along with 6 other Cybers, but members of the Sapiens First movement in a show of strength to try and terrify the Cybers.
Cass recorded the entire thing on her implant, the implant she received after an accident that nearly took her life, and if she hadn’t received the implants, she would be either dead, or a paralysed vegetable in a coma in hospital.
With the end of the Semester looming, and Shelby having returned to her family to grieve, Cass is all alone, facing the prospect of returning to the Enclave all on her own, and with no idea of how to defeat some of the more dangerous traps, especially the Electronic Attack methods designed to take down a Cyber through Brunt Force Attacks on their implants. Each Enclave is protected by a special Firewall, which detects and destroys implants, some just crippling the Cyber, others killing them.
The story is broken into multiple different parts, each as thrilling as the next, as Cass goes through each step of what seems like an endless and overwhelming set of tasks to try and penetrate her Enclaves security so she can enter and go home for the break with her Parents and not be discovered as a Cyber.
Of course once she makes it home, she realises she is surrounded on all sides by enemies, not her Family and former friends, but people who want to know what she has been doing, did she know anything about the video of the dead men, and what is wrong with her, hanging around with a ‘Sub’ (Short for ‘Sub-human’). Of course, nobody suspects that Cass has an implant, otherwise they might just lynch her on the spot.
Cass suddenly finds that she is in a very dangerous situation, as people are willing to go to any degree to get the information they need to find who filmed the video or to discredit it and save the movement. Cass is being spied on at every turn, and even learns they may be going after Shelby.
This is an excellent sequel to the first book, following on and building up a full-on tension filled thriller, in which you are just glued to the page, waiting to see what happens next.
This book is not just a gripping story, but it is a compelling tale of hate and discrimination, and Davis takes us right into the heart of the movement in this book, showing the complete fanaticism that the ‘cult’ like members of the Sapien’s movement have for their cause and the horrifying lengths they are willing to go to.
I will give Davis some credit here, as whilst there is some violence in this book, he didn’t feel the need to make it overtly graphic, and there were no sexual assault scenes that seem to turn up in these type of situations, meaning that the book is suitable for a younger audience (younger meaning teens 13+) just as a guide for anyone interested.
It is also an incredibly well written book on how a population can be manipulated into believing that something is wrong or evil, that not only participating in it is enough to make you sub-human, but associating with it is also enough to get you written off as being a sub-human. Sub-human status removes all of your rights as a human, and means you can be killed as something like an animal.
It is a really good thing to understand when reading this book that you don’t have to participate directly in the activity to be a part of it, you just have to stand by and let others do evil things to be complicit in these actions, to be guilty of the same things through failure to act, through negligence
The descriptions of the fervor of the rallies of the Sapien’s movement is just intense, incredibly powerful, and at times, truly terrifying when you consider that there are rallies that are very similar to this being held in countries around the world quite regularly – with similar sort of prejudicial reasons.
This book, this series, is not just a clever bit of writing, but utterly gripping and thrilling as well, you will find it very difficult to put it down until you are done. Davis has created an outstanding dystopian future, and given us an exceptional character driven story of prejudice in a very disturbing view of a dystopian future, and it is just extraordinary, can’t wait for book 3!
Sarah Gise again does a brilliant Narrating job with the second book, with exceptional character voices, bringing the characters to life, and not just through their words, but through their emotions as well. This is a very powerful and emotive story, and Gise’s Narration is riveting in showing that fear, passion, and emotion, from both sides of the story.
As a Narrator, you have to be able to read the story, and tell it, without your own natural feelings seeping into it, and with a story like this, it would be difficult. Gise does a wonderful job, of creating such emotionally charged scenes, you can feel the tension in the room as some of the different things play out in this book. In other parts, you can really feel the pain of various characters as different scenes play out. Gise is incredibly talented, and is extremely gifted in bringing these stories to life. She also has a great range of character voices, both male and female, allowing you to easily discern different characters talking, which is always great in an Audiobook, especially one as fast paced as this.
I have no hesitation in recommending Gise, or the audiobook version of this book, it is outstanding!!

I adored Cyber’s Change, the first book in Jamie Davis’ fantastic latest series, Sapiens Run. Well, now Book 2, Cyber's Escape, is here and somehow it’s even better than that first book. This book is more than simply engrossing. I love the cyberpunk world created for this series with its wonderfully constructed and diverse characters, and heroes battling prejudice. I frankly adore lead character Cass Armstrong and the entire cast of characters. This book was, and I can already tell that the entire series will be, totally addictive. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

This, second in the series, cyberpunk/dystopian is even better than the first book. My emotions really got a workout while I read it (straight through the night), flipping the pages as quickly as I could so I could find out Cass and Shelby's fate. I highly recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Be prepared to deal with some savage events and probably some anger about said events. I can hardly wait for the third and final volume.

This is the second book about the lives of Cassie and Shelby' as cyber humans Cassie has gone home for winter break from the university. Will she be able to hide her implant from her parents ? Will Cassie and Shelby get back together with Cassie stuck in the enclave ? I received this book for an honest review.

Fab

Very well written dystopian series. I think the interesting thing is his the author is his g it to draw analogies to sexuality. As a mixed race woman, I can do the same for racial discrimination too. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Okay, the only bad thing I have to say is I have to wait for the next part! I re-read the first on yesterday because I knew this one was out today. It is a great story that is a lot of fun. It was a fast read as I really wanted to see how Cass was going to escape the enclave. I hope this on is out on Audible soon and the third part is out within the next few months!
