The author is unbearably condescending, yet clearly lacking any meaningful understanding of the science or mathematics presented within. The argument that all science is based upon assumptions is frankly insulting, and is moreover poorly supported within the book. As a quiet and reserved agnostic, these one-sided ramblings of a fanatic Evangelist have given me nothing worth considering. I also don't appreciate the person who yelled at me and shoved the book in my face, either. As a final note, I want to emphasize exactly how pretentious and arrogant the author's tone is. Mr. Hammond clearly does not respect the rule for the discussion of any religion, which is not to throw stones in a glass house. If you want to convert someone, do so with kindness and respect, and, more importantly, understand your subject matter.

As a former atheist who is now a Christian, I discourage anyone with genuine questions from reading this book. The author does not have any grasp of what he is talking about. He makes nonsensical assertions about complex ideas, with little to no attempt at backing them up. The only worthwhile part of this book is the Gospel proclamation at the end - but frankly I barely made it there after trudging through all the muck.

I found this book to be easy to read as it kept ur interest and had very basic knowledge. When you read the entire book you will understand the title and the analogy. This book is perfect for that are either non Christian or baby Christian because it wraps up what Christianity is without being long winded boring or complicated. I do recommend it as well as keep several copys to be able to leave around or give to others.
I have read the negative reviews and I don't how anyone who read it cover to cover with a nonbiased or open mind could NOT understand it or why the title is what it is. Hopefully if you read the negative reviews you come across this one. I had also read them but wanted to make my own decision.

My 13 year old grandson was given this book when trick or treating. So that explains it: the book is aimed at young teens. But is the subject matter really appropriate for such a young age? My grandson is about half way through the book and he is finding it very confusing. I can understand why. The book is divided into two unequal parts. The first 30 pages or so are the standard anti-evolution and anti-naturalism arguments normally expounded by Christian apologists. An attempt is made to make them age-appropriate, but I’m not sure this is possible. The last 15 pages or so are a reasonably appropriate presentation of the gospel and an invitation to accept Jesus and begin a career as a Christian.

How, as a thorough-going naturalist, do I respond to such a book? If my 13 year old grandson can’t even understand the arguments being made in this book, he is certainly not going to understand any counter-arguments. He did ask me if I believed in evolution and I told him evolution is certainly true. I also told him he ought to talk about evolution with his uncle, who is a geologist, if he is truly interested. The key, of course, is not to press the issue.

Please don't waste your time reading this (admittedly short) piece of Christian drivel. At the beginning of the text, the author presents the following pages as a lucid examination of two drastically differing world views. The reader quickly discovers that this couldn't be farther from the truth. The text early on decides to make the case of "Why Christianity is right and all other religions (or lack of belief in any gods, aka Atheism) are completely wrong both logically and ethically". Clearly this author lacks sufficient knowledge in many scientific principles, painting evolution, radiocarbon dating, and natural selection in an uninformed light.

As an agnostic leaning atheist myself, I found his statements on agnosticism to be particularly inflammatory. The author assumes an arrogant stance of 100% correctness rather than attempting to honestly understand the subtleties and nuances found in between the lines of an Atheist or agnostic viewpoint. For a Christian like this man, there is either 100% or 0%. In his small and limited worldview of black and white, no room is made for the various shades of gray that paint reality as we know it.

This is a short, effective book on sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and proving the irrationality of biblical atheism.

Dude was handing these out to kids on Halloween. Bonus star for not being from a cult. Lower stars for being fairly routine and basic apologetics

I was maybe going to write a review that was more detailed and thoughtful, that discussed certain points and aspects of the book, but you know what? It isn't worth it. And it's already been done, by people more knowledgeable than I am.

This book is the usual drivel of conservative Christian apologetics that fundamentally misunderstands that science is a method for knowing the world, and not a set of "irreputable proofs" as the author states. He doesn't have a solid understanding of the science he's talking about, or the philosophy or theology. His "citations" in the back are a Carl Sagan quote and bible verses, but no citation for the science, philosophy, or theology he name-drops without delving into (there is one little citation for a note about the number of amino acids in a living cell, though). He claims that the things science has worked out and discovered can't really be that accurate, since we don't have a time machine to prove it-- but the Bible and Christianity require no such time machine of course.

It's a short booklet, and if this is your brand of Christianity, you'll probably like this book for the author's belief and fervor. If you're from a different brand of Christianity, you'll be disappointed that even though this book is brief, it isn't better-written or more thoughtful. And if you're neither of those things, you'll likely just be offended at how very condescending the author is! Skip the logical fallacies and read a different book instead of this one.

This is a book that talks about the Truth, even though so many of us don't want to hear it which honestly is to be expected. I would of liked if this book went into the topic a bit of why people don't think the Bible can be trusted and how it's been misused, I understand the intention of this book. It does give resources in the back and mentions the website WhatTimeIsPurple.com a few times to go further into resources and the topic of the Truth. I highly recommend this book for those who are skeptics, atheist's, agnostics, basically any of those who are unsure of the Truth and those who try to disprove the Truth. It's a very short book only composed of 46 pages, but it's pretty compacted.

This little booklet showed up at my front door. I figured it was brought by some of those religions that visit you to talk to you about religion. But it was not it was a Christian group that I never heard of before gospel publishing mission.

I consider myself religious and a believer in God, but this was a very interesting take on pitting atheism against biblical theism. It explained thoroughly why atheism can't be true and why we need to believe in biblical theism. It actually used scientific evidence to show why atheism cannot be considered real.

I highly recommend this book to Christians and people who consider themselves atheist and agnostics.

In the booklet "What Time Is Purple" Tom Hammond compares two majority world-views (atheism and theism) and gives evidence for why the atheistic world-view comes up short. He then presents a case from the Bible of why of all theistic beliefs, Christianity is the most believable.

This short (44 pages) booklet is best for Christians who wish to be prepared to give an answer to challenges from atheists and for non-Christians with an open mind who want to understand how it is that Christians have reasonable (not blind) faith.

Disclosure: This booklet was a gift from Wretched Radio.

A long-form Gospel tract/booklet that is targeted towards atheism. It starts with the cosmological argument for God, then into intelligent design, followed by a bit of classical philosophy and presuppositional argumentation thrown in. The second half of the booklet provides a clear Gospel presentation.

The book can be used for evangelism purposes but also for believers to help solidify their thinking on these issues and prepare themselves for sharing the Gospel.

I am giving this book one star because not giving it any stars wouldn't have an impact on its rating on this site. It does not deserve even this single star.

A must read for this generation and college students. What is truth? Find out and read this book, because science can obviously take us so far, and can't answer the Who and Why.
