A. A. Davies is the dark, romantic, taboo side of Abigail Davies. Abigail is the author of over twenty novels; her favorite to write being anything full of angst and drama. Her writing space is her safe-haven where she can get lost—and tortured—in the world of her characters. When not writing, Abi is mother to two beautiful daughters, a black cat, a chocolate Labrador, and three guinea pigs.
Verboten. Okay, I'm still trying to recover from what I just read, but here we go.
The story starts off with the ominous scene of someone being watched. However, as the story goes on, you come to find out that maybe not all bad guys are intentionally bad. Sometimes, things are inherited and no matter how much you try to contain the monster, it can't be contained.
Can it?
Bless Uncle Jacob because he tried. He didn't want to be the man that he knew would be born of his bloodline and he did his best to resist, but sometimes, the heart wants what the heart wants.
And in this instance, what the heart wants can lead to deadly and damning consequences. But for who? I guess you'll have to read Verboten and find out.
So most of not all the differing authors warn you that these books aren’t dark romance. There’s no happily ever afters. Well… This might be the only exception.
Sure it’s dark and depraved but it’s also sweet and swoon worthy.
Don’t expect it from any of the books that come after.
I just realize that this Inferno world/series ruined the name 'Luke' for me. It's sullied now!
Anyway, for a novella from that series, I like it okay. It's still fucked up and caused me to puke inside my mouth, but hey, that's the point of this book.
Okay so it wasn't so bad I mean I have read worse. Where says in subject content. But yeah there were a few kind of skeezy parts. The thing that I don't like, is that this is actually the spin-off of another series. And if you guys have been paying attention, I cannot stand when it's a spin-off and nobody says anything. It's not even from the same author, or authors. It's from somebody else. These kind of books drive me insane because I don't know what I'm supposed to read first. So I've read this one first. It's in Novella so I should be able to backtrack, again, and read the original series by somebody named Yolanda olsen. Inferno is the name of the series. So I'm going to head back and read that stuff and then come back to this I feel like a freaking yo-yo. So that's your warning for people out there that are about to read this book, make sure that you have read Yolanda Olson inferno. It starts with inferno and hold on a second let me see then a book called c i n e r e, then Sparks and then Ember. Yeah I know I spelled out the other book because voice to text and the fact that I don't know how to pronounce it lol. So there you go read those what is it four books yeah, read those four books and then come back to this series. Now I'm going to go and hit my head off a wall so that way I can get my senses back, and I'm going to start with inferno. Wish me luck
AA Davies is the pseudonym for Abigail Davies. For such a short story, she covers a lot and I didn’t feel anything was lacking in background; nothing felt skimmed over. Her taboo bad/good hero, his strengths and weaknesses - extremely well written. The heroine and her situation is perfectly portrayed. Kudus for that.
Wish the h had asked for help sooner. Those parts were hard to read and I admit this was where I speed-read, although I’m aware that seasoned readers of “dark” don’t categorise this read under “dark dark”.
Two minded on how to rate because I did swipe a few times as it’s nothing new BUT the writing style is fantastic.
Okay... the Inferno series (Yolanda Olson) wasn't what I expected it to be (none of the 4 books was a 5 star read for me) and the one book of the Inferno World of Yolanda Olson series I've read, (Iniquity) was only a 2 star read for me. Still I wanted to try some other book(s) in the series. And because this one had great reviews, is a new to me Author and is only 95 pages, I gave Verboten a try. And I was pleasantly surprised! This is mainly a taboo story; there isn’t much darkness in this book, at least not like in Yolanda Olson’s books. Turns out Taylee (Sparks) had more children besides Luke? At least 2 more sons, according to this book and both played a part in Verboten. The middle son is a ‘normal’ dad until his daughter Beth turns 18; then Daddy thinks the time is right to start sexually molesting his daughter. It's the way things are done in this family, right?! The youngest brother, Jacob, secretly has the hots for his niece Beth. And Beth reciprocate these feelings. At first, Jacob (a ruthless fighter) tries to resist, but this is a fight he can’t win. When he finds out what his brother does to Beth (who he thinks of as ‘his’!)… a bloody ‘happy’ ending follows. The whole story was predictable (no surprises!); nevertheless I really enjoyed reading it. A.A. Davies was a new to me author.
⚜Rate: ★★★★✩
English: "Verboten" by A.A. Davies belongs to the series "Inferno World" where there are multiple authors. This series is part of the original series "Inferno" by Yolanda Olson. This book contains taboo erotic terror of a dark world, depraved, raped and not for everyone.
Beth has just turned 18 and her uncle Jacob visits her family, but especially the young Beth. The one he can't get out of her head, although he shouldn't look at her. But her demons are stronger and Beth doesn't resist them either. In addition, Beth finds herself in a terrible situation and needs her uncle to help her get out of there.
When I started this book I knew it was dark, with taboo romance, but I didn't think it would go to such an extreme. I also didn't know that there was an original series by another author from which these short stories started. And I'm not going to miss it for anything. The story is so twisted at first, but then it gets worse. And at the end of the book, you meet a family member, and it also seems like the same thing. Conclusion, in that family everybody is sick in the head, but I still like it. This book takes you to limits you wish you hadn't reached. ⚜Rate: ★★★★✩
After i read all this series from Yolanda i already knew this will be horrific and dark. But i liked,no loved, the turn of this one, at least there is love here.
I LOVE uncle Jacob 😍 I knew what will happen eventually to Beth, BUTTTT i was upset and MAD with her because she didn't asked help to Jacob , i wished a lot of stuffs could be stopped, or at least avoided...
In Yolanda story's i kind of accepted the horror in it because they "grew" up with that mind, for them the incest was always a thing, a normal thing, but here i was hurt because she grew up normal (school, college in the future) at least until 18....so yeah..in this case, i felt disgusted and revolted.
Anyway , i enjoyed the story, even if i cringed a lot to it, if it wasn't for that stuff happen i would easily gave 5 stars...but i can't not be mad at Beth for not talking. Also i wished i knew more about them in the future.
Once in a while a book comes along that just obliterates the day for you. Like, I have a couple of hours let me read this dark taboo romance novella. Verboten shattered the day because I was never expecting it to be that good. The dark themes were pretty fucking dark and the taboo themes, yeah, they were there but you know what? It was exactly what I was craving.
A forbidden love story brought on by fear and simple longing. He wasn't supposed to want her, and she wasn't supposed to want him, but they did and then fireworks happened!!
And not just the fireworks that happen in the bedroom I am talking about a side of delicious chaos that I didn't see coming but baby, when it happened it was the sweetest of revenges.
If this is just the start of the Inferno World Novellas, then I know I am in for a treat. Beth and Jacob owned my entire soul for the entirety of this book. My only complaint is that I would have liked it to have been longer but that is just because I am greedy and wasn't ready to say goodbye to Jacob yet.
What an amazing story to start off Yolanda Olson's Inferno World! Beautifully written, expertly paced. The tension, the yearning, the pain--in all its facets--were showcased and shining. I loved the character development and how A.A. had Beth and Jacob breathing off the page. I can't give anything away only that Verboten was absolutely stellar. 100 percent recommend!
Yesssss. I started this book expecting something dark and disturbing but it was actually more of a “fluffier dark” read that I really enjoy the most.
Jacob is kinda obsessed with his niece, Beth, but it doesn’t feel creepy like the other Inferno stories. It’s more of a lovey feeling and he wants to protect her. And the thing is... Beth feels the same way for him. She’s drawn to him.
There are disturbing situations for a few brief moments in this book - mainly dealing with Beth’s dad being a creeper (and she doesn’t want it) and her step mom not doing shit about it either. Luckily Uncle Jacob comes to her rescue.
The only thing I got confused about was that Jacob and Hal (Beth’s Dad) are the brothers of Luke aka Pater from the first Inferno books. I didn’t even realize Luke had siblings? I read the prequel and what happened with Luke and his mom and not sure how that would be possible for her to have any other kids, unless I’m not remembering things correctly. I dunno.
Anyway, I loved this story and it’s probably my favorite of the Inferno world books so far. I love me some family love. 😆
Verboten by A.A Davis is an epic story to start this series off with, it is everything so perfectly wrong in the right kind of ways for the Inferno World.
Whilst reading I was cringing, laughing & cheering and also rooting for Uncle Jacob (in a twisted way)turning those pages so fast because this story was gripping and made me think what a twisted world the Inferno world really is because certain things were better than others but all situations are so very wrong !
If you loved Inferno and everything taboo this is a one click must!
When you submit yourself to this pitch black world you must remember all the warnings from the begginging, having read every single book in this series I was happy author A.A Davies captured it's essence and created a perfect extension.
There was but one question I was left with, however it may be answered in the end as I'll continue my adventure down this particular rabit hole, this novella does have an ending however author Yolanda Olson has brought more authors to expand the Inferno Universe.
Omg, I love this novella from the inferno series. This novella is written so good you get hooked from the first page and the hot sexy scenes...This story is so good, it's a must read if you Daddy Pater😈.
If you're looking for uncle/niece taboo with a splash of stalker, then this is your book. There is a bit of a slow burn to the story which makes you want to get to the juicy bits even faster. Then you come to a very grueling part making you want to root for the uncle/niece incest and kinda throw up a lil (not at the uncle/niece). It was a very good short read, giving you just enough background to not feel lost or wondering about the other characters. There is a sense that these characters come from a bigger "story", but you do not need to have read those other stories to follow this very well written taboo novella. Now I gotta go hunt down those Inferno novellas =D
Wow, what a read.. I really enjoyed this book and Uncle Jacob.. I really didn't want to put it down once I started it. Then at then end. I have a feeling Luke was Pater.
I divine into this book directly not reading reviews or something, only reading the Blurb. But to warn all of you there, who want to read this book and all the previous series ,who is writinen by Yolanda Olson it contains insect, taboo "relationship" and dark elements that is definitely not for everyone with triggers!
Verboten transmits us through the life of Beth ,who when she complete 18 start to get sexualy abused by her father, who is completely crazy in the head and all he's family, who all grown in each other with they're sick minds. Here comes Jakob the little brother of her father, who is nothing like them, but in the same time have this obsession with he's niece that he is doing everything in he's power to stay away from, and only to watch over her from afar.
No matter how crazy will sound but this two have strong connections between them. Jacob is this jealous possessiv man,who if you look bad at her will kill you immediately. Beth in other hand make me so angry with her that was not telling what is happening with her in the house ,no matter how much time Jakob was telling her that will help her if have some problem.
I enjoy the book,in the end I get surprised by the events and how they end,but definitely they left me wanting more as a couple to read about them together.
