Science Fiction Adventure Romance

The Xathi may be defeated. But the battle to rebuild is just beginning.

For geologist Annie Parker, all she can hope for is helping her shattered family heal while she works in her quiet laboratory.

Until a mysterious seismic eruption shakes her entire world all over again.

Teamed up with a surly Valorni, Annie just wants to get the job done. Investigate the incident and get back to her lab.

Ignore the intriguing flashes of the man inside his bitter shell, ignore the sparks he sends through her at every touch.

The war for Ankou was never his.

And Strike Team Two Leader Karzin needs to go home.

His team may be fine helping the humans rebuild their cities, but he has other plans. He'll find a way back to the Home Worlds, or kill himself trying.

When General Rouhr orders him to help the tiny human female in her research, only long-standing discipline takes him to her side.

But once he's there, it'll take more than the attacks of this strange new enemy to drag him away from her.

And when even their memories are under siege, Karzin and Annie may find they have something worth fighting for after all.

Karzin is the seventh book in the Conquered World science fiction romance series.
Each book features the romance of a new couple, with alpha male alien warriors and women who don't put up with their nonsense. No cheating, no cliffhangers, HEA guaranteed!

Now the Xathi have been defeated the rebuild of buildings, communities and friendships have begun. Human geologist Annie Parker hopes that working in her quiet laboratory gives her family the time and space to heal. Then a mysterious seismic eruption shakes the world as she knows it again. Teamed up with the surly Valorni and Strike Team Leader Karzin, Annie just wants to get her job done by investigating the incident and getting back to her comfortable place - her lab. That means she will ignore the flashes and sparks whenever she touches the man hidden inside the bitter shell. Karzin is angry - the war for the planet Ankou was never something he wanted to fight - he needs to go home and work on saving his own people. His team might have settled into helping the humans to rebuild their cities and has made their own life with human women, but he has to find a way back to his homeworld or die trying. So when General Rouhr orders him to help the tiny human woman with her research only his long military discipline allows him to focus and go to her side to help. But once he's there, it'll take more than the attacks of this strange new enemy to drag him away from her. And when even their memories are under siege, Karzin and Annie may find they have something worth fighting for after all.

I really enjoyed this story with the very surly and focussed Karzin and the focussed (for other reasons) Annie. They really were a match made in heaven and there was definitely a type for the Valorni as it was too similar. I enjoyed the drama and danger involving the cause of the earthquakes and their links to the history of the planet and the war with the Xathi. It was great to involve so many of the major characters and their partners in the previous books. Well written and very easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

Karzin and Annie

Karzin is obsessed with trying to find a way back home, after both the Aurora and the Vengeance were destroyed far too badly to fly them home. His obsession has lead him to become estranged from his team, and the other aliens that were part of the crew.
Tiring of Karzin’s stubbornness, General Rouhr assigns him the job of protecting a geologist, who needs to investigate a mysterious crater near the ruins of the Xathi ship.
Annie is a geologist, providing for her entire family, and trying to hold it all together. Like many of the other humans, they are in straightened circumstances, but she perseveres.
When her expertise is needed to investigate the mysterious crater, she jumps at the chance. And the attractive, if surly, alien escorting her is just a bonus.

Although the Xathi have been defeated, not all the dangers have been eliminated. Karzin and Annie find themselves running about, desperately looking for answers, and coming up with empty hands.
Karzin is trying to deal with his changes in circumstances, as is Annie, but unlike Annie, he doesn’t have family to help. It’s an interesting contrast.

Like the rest of the books in the conquered worlds series, this is not a read alone. As the first book in the second story arc, it is beginning a new chapter, with new dangers, and new situations. It does need to be read in order, just so the situations and characters make a little more sense.

Recommended for those who enjoy sci-fi epic storylines, with a new romance in each book.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

I recommend reading the other books in this series before reading this book to understand the background for this story.

The Xathi may have been defeated on Ankou, but Karzin knows the battle back at his home is still on going. He has become so focused on finding a way back to that continued battle that he is alienating his own teammates, ignoring his other duties to obsess on a finding a way home. But when he is forced to accompany a human geologist, Annie Parker, to check out a strange pit in the desert. Annie doesn't cower at his bad attitude, but rather pushes back every chance she gets. With Annie, Karzin may be able to find a reason to keep defending Ankou against a new threat.

I really liked the chemistry between Annie and Karzin. They have moments where they butt heads, but not so much that you miss the attraction and connection between them. Annie really helps Karzin see how his actions are obsessive and gives him a way to connect with his new home. Their relationship did come across as a bit fast at times, but it had a good mix of sweet and hot moments.

There are appearances from previous MCs in this book, but not so much that they overtake the current MCs in this story. I'm looking forward to future stories to see more of these couples.

I didn’t get it - not how Karzin changed so quickly (within days of meeting Annie?), and not why him and Annie get together.

The story as I saw it:
K: I will NEVER stop trying to get back home. I will NOT settle here! How DARE these human women distract the others from trying to get back home... how DARE my fellow warriors be even remotely happy here! Oooh! Sexy rock-scientist ... I bought us a house, lets get married!

A: that alien is rude ... and sexy. His fellow aliens are mad at him and accuse him of being obsessed with getting back home instead of helping his group here and now. He kissed me. Let’s have lots of babies together!

Other people in story: there’s a mysterious thing making holes and killing people. Karzin/Annie - focus and figure out what it is! Hey Karzin isn’t as grumpy now that he’s kissing Annie ...we forgive him for all past digressions.

I’m honestly more confused about HOW mad they are to begin with than with how quickly they forgive, but given that they were really upset, how’d they get over it so quickly? And that’s my main issue with this story. How did everyone get over everything so quickly? (Karzin’s obsession and general disgruntlement, the other’s anger at Karzin, etc)

I'm a big fan of alien dudes finding their one person in all the world and suddenly going all marshmallow-y about it.

Oh, hey! Speaking of marshmallow-y...Karzin caught the feels for Annie and it rocks his world. He's been so obsessed with his project to find his way back to their part of the universe that seeing what the human survivors on the planet have to deal with as they struggle to put their way of life back together shocks him. More than that, their struggle gets him to start helping with the clean-up and relief efforts. His help might be small in the overall scheme of things, but he makes a difference to the people he helps.

As for Annie, she's...well, she's getting along. Money is tight, food is tight, her family is struggling, and she's doing her best to keep things together. Being paired with a grumpy alien on a geologic mission isn't ideal at first, but everything works out in the end.

Memory loss, BIG things happening, survival, and unexpected kisses. Enjoyable!

Annie was hilarious, tiny as can be but with a backbone of steel who will not allow herself to be intimidated even my a man (alien) who could crush her without even trying. Karzin in turns broke my heart and made me want to smack him upside the head. After the Xathi were defeated he made it a priority to find a way back home so that they could help their people continue the fight that is still, no doubt, raging out there but unfortunately he allowed it to become an obsession to the exclusion of his team, his family, and he is on the verge of losing them permanently if he doesn't buck up. When he meets Annie he is attracted to her but feels torn between his growing feelings for her and the driving need to find a way home. Can Annie and his friends teach him that building a life and seeking happiness does not mean that he is betraying his family back home, the search can continue but so must life. Then there is the mystery of what exactly is attacking the towns and living down the crater in the middle of the desert.

4&1\2🌟

Karzin and Annie star in book 7 of the conquered world series💖 I wasn't sure how the author was going to make Karzin into a male lead that I could genuinely like. In the previous few books he was a bitter, angry pain in the ass. Then Annie comes into his life she experienced some of the same pain and heartache Karzin did at the hands of the Xathi. Together they embark on a dangerous adventure to find out what the new threat to their home is. Something mysterious is underground creating massive holes, some killing people and destroying homes. Annie is a geologist and is working hard to discover what could be causing the destruction. Together they navigate the dangers and slowly learn about one another. A friendship and mutual understanding and respect develops between the two. Passion ignites and love brings light to the darkness. This series is a quick, fun pleasurable read. 💖

Oh well this is new. Well I guess it had to be as the bad guys have all but been obliterated...for now.
In comes Annie, a lady infatuated with rocks. And now the new mystery starts. Very exciting to see what nasty is going to shatter the fragile peace. It's almost a new adventure.
Karzin is a grumpy thing and understandably so. He wants to go home. I know this from previous books.
He's determined to keep Annie at arms length, but as we know, that's not going to happen.
This is a different angle that Elin depicts here. A conflicted mind combined with guilt and anger troubles the H and he's not particularly liked by his team. I wanted to yell at him for his stubbornness. And smack Annie for some of her directional thinking. However, It was definitely a good way to keep the plotline spinning with angst.
And now there is a new mystery to follow. All the asks were here. The pace. Action suspense romance and steam.
Thanks again Peirs for your amazing accents.

Let me start off by saying that this book has a truly unique plot. In 2000 books, I’ve read in my lifetime, I’ve never read anything like it. Having said that, most of the books did not have a lot of plot development. They happened every few books or so. The couples would meet and fall in love within 2 to 3 days and suddenly they’re all life partners which I find extremely hard to believe and doesn’t allow you to get to know the characters as fully as You could/should. So I hope she works on that. This book set could’ve been so much more than it was. As I previously mentioned, the plot was unique, and I would have loved to see more of it In all of the books. My chapter review is below. Negative means little to no plot development and plus equals plot development. And the plus and minus mean there was a little bit of plot development, but not a lot. Are you confused?

I was really disappointed to at the end of Rhour. I was really said to leave the crew. Karzin is angry they can't leave the planet. He refuses to help with rebuilding the plant with the crew members. Annie Parker is a geologist monitoring the area of the Xathi crash. After strange holes appear, Annie is sent to check it out. Karzin is required to guard the doctor and keep her safe. When mysterious attacks in the surrounding towns become a problem, Annie and Karzin need to figure it out. The longer they spend together the closer they become. I am really excited about this new team and what they will get into. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.

Karzin, Conquered World book 7 by Elin Wyn
Annie has a younger brother Helix and sister Cassie. They all live in a very small house with her parents. Annie is the only one working right now because of the Xathi came and attacked there planet. Kaezin is from the planet Ankorei and they came to help fight and destroyed the Xathi and now the humans are safe but need to start rebuilding the planet. Karzin just wants to go home but there is no way to get to Ankorei. I really enjoyed this story and the way it was written. Elin Wyn is one of my favorite writers and has never disappointed me. She knows how to weave a story together and keep it interesting until the end. I received an advanced reader copy and have voluntarily chosen to leave a review. This is my honest opinion.

Karzin has made it his mission....no its become his obsession to find a way off the planet and get back home after the defeat of the Zanthi . He is angry and has alienated all his team members and the crew.
General Rouhr orders him to accompany a geologist to the site of the Zanthi ship wreck as there have been disturbances around the area. Annie has no time for the surly man and tells him so, which only intrigues Karzin....... Karzin finds himself doing something he had promised not to do....he has fallen inlove with a human female...
Another book in the Conquered World series that full of action, adventure and an unseen enemy that could endanger the lives of everyone on the planet..

Fast read

Loved finding more of planet. Change of pace is good with a series showing recovery after invasion. How the survivors change and adapt and rebuild.
Liked the couple but didn’t t quite believe the rapid transition of the relationship .
A few issues I had was as with the past series, where was the tech. Such as cameras for the pit, with drones to check them out. If they have modern satellites they can make drones. They shanty towns made no sense since so many died there would be empty places. Not to mention since humans did not eat while under virus control those that didn’t die would gone back to trades. Since they had cities there would have been builders.

Karzin is another awesome book in the conquered world series. As always, there were plenty of discoveries and excitement. Karzin reminded me of a grumpy bear in the beginning but it didn't take him long to turn into a teddy bear once he fell for Annie. Annie was intelligent, brave and funny. They were perfect for one another. Elin Wyn never disappoints. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Amazing

Each book seems to get better and better as the series goes on. The story was exciting and kept your attention throughout with enough action, mystery, family drama, love, friendship, and hot steamy scenes that leaves you saying ahh with awesome characters. Definitely a must buy and waiting anxiously for the next book in the series.
