Carter Strong
I yell at the referees because they tend to act like blind bats half of the time. I'm passionate, sure, but this new referee, has the audacity to throw me out of my own damn game. Who the f*ck does she think she is?
I own this league.
I could own her, if I wanted.

Sasha Chapman
My transfer to a new league was the perfect move for my career. Until I met, Coach Strong, the abrasive asshole who yelled at me and accused me of having my ponytail too tight to see. He had it coming. I didn't mean for the media to go on a rampage about him, but when he accused me of being attracted to him, that was the last straw.
I needed to get away from him.
But he wouldn't let me.

I've read over a thousand books and this is the first one that has real couple communication. I'm in love with the heroes' relationship.

It's a cute romance and it's safe.

Good gracious this book is Hott! I kept thinking slow down. It's good. Take your time. Savor it and don't rush it. Nope, I stayed up and knocked Cater in one night. I just couldn't resist.
Carter is a great book that has everything. It's funny, romantic dramatic and has a message. All I can say is ♥️

Mixed feelings

I usually love Ms. Turner's writing. She a always gets a one click, without even reading the summary. This one began a little shaky to me, I'm not sure why. The writing didn't seem up to her usual caliber. If not for all the current references, I might have thought this was something written earlier in her writing career and just published. There were also several grammatical mistakes. It got better toward the end and overall it was a decent read, but not as good as I expect from this author.

Another winner from Xyla Turner! Read It! ... Highly, highly recommended!

UPDATE: May 2020
This is another one of my go-to stories when I'm not in love with what I'm currently reading. Carter is a man that knows what he wants, and he doesn't play games. I love this story and this couple and I'll be reading this story again and again. It's one of my favorites from this author. Read It!

Ok

I didn’t like the heroine. She came across as shrill and weak. We never knew her age, I’m guessing early to mid 30’s but she was really immature at times. I understand the she disliked Carter’s behavior, his berating and obnoxious arguing, however for her to make it about her being a woman was unjust. He was an equal opportunity jerk. He berated all officials. Therefore her crusade should have been about the treatment of officials not a gender equality issue. The issue she had with the commissioner again might have been about gender but to me it sounded more like the commissioner not wanting to disrupt the apple cart and making sure his star coach wasn’t upset. The movement was a good one but what lit it wasn’t the right example in my opinion. As an aside, I didn’t like how she jump to the media immediately either. It’s like no one can have a private conversation anymore. I also hated how she didn’t seem to be able to have a conversation with Carter without running away. Stand your ground girl. Her whole meltdown after he defended her in the press was silly to me. He shouldn’t go around talking to the press without checking with her first but like all arguments she should stay and discuss the issue. Explain why she was so mad. She was behaving like a toddler. Carter was inflexible at times, set in his ways but it didn’t come across as malicious, more uninformed.
One thing which didn’t make sense, Sasha hated planes but how was she going to do her job as a referee for the NBA? There is a lot of traveling involved. I felt the interesting issues would actually be how they cope with her in a new high pressure job and him as a new coach owner of a team. Where was that team going to be based? His intentions of staying in in house might have been challenged. Basically, the book seemed to finished before the potentially interesting stuff.

"Carter" by Xyla Turner

My Rationalization:

I enjoyed this story of "Carter" that dealt with Carter and Sasha's relationship. It was good to see them finally coming together and communicating which started them wanting to be together. With Carter knowing what he wanted after meeting Sasha will be interesting in the way the story brings them together. I loved both of the parents of these two that really added to the story that will definitely keep a smile of your face as you are reading through the story. And let's also say that two friends [Zora & Harvey] really were there to help Carter and Sasha better understand each other. As we see Carter being a sexy alpha and dedicated coach how will he be able to take on Sasha who was a basketball official, a sexy but definitely not one to take any bull from anyone especially Carter? What will happen when Sasha Chambers kicks Coach Carter Roman Strong out of not only one game but two? It will be definitely interesting seeing him chase Sasha and knowing she was the one for him. How will this all come out for Sasha and Carter? Well, you will have to pick up 'Carter' to see how well this author brings it all out to the reader. The ending of the story was wonderful seeing this dynamic powerhouse couple getting there HEA. This was definitely a good read!

Caaaarrrter!!! OMG, I want one. Coach Carter Strong is a dreamboat. Well, when you get past his hot temper and yelling at the refs on the court. He has a sense of entitlement. He meets his match when he meets Sasha Fierce, a feisty, no-nonsense referee. She changes the game completely.

Their chemistry is clear from the beginning, even if Sasha tries to deny it. I love how the story entwines the lives of a semi-pro basketball coach and the sexy female referee who is all about her business. The book is well paced and the characters are well developed. I had a hard time putting the book down so I could snatch a few hours of sleep.

We have several celebrity appearances in this book. Messy Mandy makes a shady appearance, trying to get all up in the couple’s business. We are treated to scenes with Harvey and Zora Black from Take A Knee. The author even gives us a little bit of Trevor Noah in this one.

Xyla does it again with the Me Three Movement! Looking forward to reading Declan in June.

The Movement was Televised.

The lives the early part of their relationship lives in front of the cameras one way or another. Sasha worked my nerves a bit. You can't blame someone for what they can't possibly know. If your not willing to teach them then why get angry and assume that they should know. She wasn't a child so she should have known this. But I'm still a fan!!

I like the premise, but didn't like the writing. It felt like things happened too fast, the mmc wasn't likeable, there was no emotional depth for me. Feels like this was written for a free website like wattapad and then the author decided to put it to Kindle.

I finished the book a few days ago but I’ve been sick. Time to do a quick review....

I found the story to be refreshingly different. I enjoyed BOTH characters. Their development from being single to growing into a relationship together was good. I liked that Carter knew what he wanted and didn’t skirt around his feelings about what he wanted out of a relationship with Sasha. “When a man knows, he knows” and Carter knew!

Great work! Highly recommended.

I really liked Carter and Sasha's story. It was a little different and of course contains lots of hot love scenes that I've come to expect from Xyla Turner. Carter is a man's man and you'll be feeling that alpha male testosterone burning through the pages! Good stuff and nice sports romance!

Not bad

No bad, good premise and characters with a lot of layers. I liked this book, don’t get me wrong but at times it was a little too over the top with whole Alpha Male, Alpha female but other that that, goo read

Love this author.

Another good solid start to a series. I don't know how she keeps cranking them out. There's a good dynamic and chemistry between the characters. I love how Carter actually put in the work. As a side bonus it gave you good insight as to the job of the referee.

Sasha Fierce did her do

Sasha Monique Chambers was a no non-sense basketball official in the semi pro league after a debilitating injury kicks her out of playing the game she loved. Her father persuaded her to become an official instead. She has aspirations of taking her talent to go the pro league, but there was this glass ceiling for women whenever they worked in a male-dominated profession and she was set to break that ceiling when she ran head-on into the anger of Coach Carter Roman Strong. Sasha kicked him out of not only one game but two. She is was not putting up with his temper tantrums and bullying her as he did other referees who just let him get away with it and the league just put up with his behavior. That intrigued Coach Strong. No one called him to task before for his rants. He was determined to break down Sasha's wall if she would just give him a chance but she would not and refused his advances at every turn, and at every turn she ran. He could see she was a very beautiful woman in spite of her ponytail, baggy black pants and her black and white striped official's uniform. He was forty-three years old with one failed marriage behind him and he was ready to settle down and start a family and he knew that Sasha was it for him. He was going to fight for her and fight for her he did.

Xyla wrote a wonderful story about two people in the same profession being treated so very different because of gender and how social media and pop culture tends to influence that as well. We see the characters develop as the story moves along. Carter has become a better Coach by becoming a more temperate coach by stopping his temper tantrums during games. He sees first hand how Sasha does her job very well by observing things during a game that coaches do not see, that she is trained to see. He has the utmost respect for her ability and will fight with her so she achieves her goals. Sasha stands on her principals, no matter how much she loves Carter and was willing to give him up if he truly does not get the "Me Three Movement." Luckily, he comes to understand and stands by her with the help of Zora and Harvey Black. Harvey was in a similar situation with Zora in Take A Knee by Xyla. He's so proud of what she has accomplished and it was time for their HEA together. Their goals were coming to fruition together.

I could not stop laughing when reading this book.

Between Carter mother and himself, as well as Sasha's and her parents, I couldn't stop laughing. Lol I really enjoy reading this book.

Carter is one mean, sexy, dedicated coach. That knows what he wants and is not playing any games when it comes to getting what he wants. He is truly an alpha, but an alpha who knows when to say sorry to his woman, and when to stand his ground.

Now Sasha is a sexy, not taking any bull crap from no one, young woman. She might not know that man book, when it comes to who get's ejected from a game or not. But she does know that Carter is way out of line, and he got the right one, to shove his butt right back in place.

I love these two, between her not trying to allow him to get close to her. Too him chasing after her, knowing that she and him was meant to be together forever.

I love the way they are with one another, there are times when I wanna say to Sasha to stop playing with this man emotions. He's chasing after you and you're really playing these little games. Either you want the man or not. At this point when I was reading about her, I thought she was was slightly fickle. It was almost as if she was playing two side of the fence. Either to be with him or not.

I felt bad for Carter, because she couldn't choose, and he kept chasing after her. Then FINALLY he's like enough is enough!! I want you, I'm willing to be with you, I'm willing to work on myself. Enough with these games, I'm too old for them. And I want to be with you, and only you no one else!

I absolutely love this part! Way to put your foot down and make her come too terms about what's going on between they.

I do love that. I think I have a couple of OMG'S, as well as part that I cannot forget when reading this book. The most favorite is when he ask her for her address or her number. She doesn't give it to him and instead gives him her email address.

Lol this is extremely funny to me because I NEVER heard that happen before. I couldn't stop laughing. I really enjoy Sasha's Parent's they're funny as well. The way they bicker here and there are funny as well. I really enjoy reading this book. I cannot wait to read about what happen between Harvey and Zora relationship and how they got together.

So cute, so sexy, and soooo good!!!

This was such a good story and typical MS. Turner's style where she educates her readers and thoroughly explained her ideas and how the cause came forth and then she gives the solution all embedded in the best romance, erotica that you will read....
Sasha and Carter, wow what a cute couple.
Carter was a basketball coach, from the south side of Bronx, which means, we got an alpha to the triple level, a hothead, a spark fire type of person and one who does not take any crap from any one. A protector, and very loyal person. Reminds me a little bit of Harvey (take a knee)....
Sasha on the other hand also reminded me of Zora (take a knee), but had more challenges than her and the regular woman. She was a basketball official in the pro division and the challenges were outstanding. Beautiful, strong , independent, intelligent, she was the epitome of a strong independent black woman. She was doing her thang, until Carter came in...
As I said before, one of the reason that MS. Turner will always be my favorite author is because every single story or novels had a message finely printed in them. She not only educated us but she will show the cause, the root of the problem and in the same breath gives the solution while still entertaining us on what we want the most which is romance, over the top sex, and more romance...and that is the key to a good book...

I liked it - and liked it more than the other XT with the senator, but there were SO MANY errors in this book. Seriously so so many.
So many.
Tense shifts, incorrect words, etc etc.
*cringe* I just looked and it was published in 2019. Oof.

And ... also ... it was a bit ... heavy handed? [Although again - less so than the other book but] ...

HOWEVER. I did like that not everything was easy, that Carter got a clue and stopped being such an asshole ... AND that Sasha had some moments where her friend(s) checked her.

It was kinda cute [obvious ... but cute] when they had the ~role reversals; like Carter is an asshole on the court if he thinks a ref is being unreasonable, but otherwise he's basically a marshmallow homebody ... while Sasha is a boss on the court too - but! In her life she's ... :X kinda your "stereotypical bachelor."
Carter is the one who cooks, gardens - GROWS HIS OWN FOOD - his amazing house ... I just ...
yeah. <3

I was definitely curious about the power couple - but :X if it's all just like this ...

XT's ~earlier books are pretty formulaic with SUPER ASSHOLE RICH WHITE GUY who "becomes woke" - which ... in a way is very satisfying for fantasy reading, but also in part 🙄
I actually can't remember how old Sasha is [I want to say early 30s?]
Carter is 43, and I loved that too <3

I'd say ... D+ ?

It's a cute story - a bit more telling than showing than I'd like, but I liked the characters a lot. But seriously. The errors. Oof.

Pretty good

I enjoyed the book. Already a fan of the author and her previous works. I like how she incorporates other characters from other novels in recent books. It keeps our favorite characters alive longer and it shows the depth of the universe she created for all of them to live in. Lol I’m not so sure I want to read the 2nd I stay to the Me Three Series bc I’m so anxious for the 3rd installment of Christine’s story. My heart went out to her and how she was such a good friend to Sasha and that even though each has such success that a Christine did not become jealous and catty as some female friends can get when one of their girls has good shit happen to them. I loved l, just loved how she stayed loyal and true to her friend Sasha and how she was rooting for both, Sasha and Carter the whole way. She was also the perfect “voice of reason” as she expressed a lot of sentiments the many of readers were having as the story of Sasha and Carter unfolded. Lastly, Carter and Sasha were a dynamic powerhouse couple, but apparently not as top dog as Zora and Harvey. That couple is a beast. #CrazyCoupleGoals lol 😂

Yum, Yum!!

Gotdamn! That was FABULOUS, I'm such a sucker for Strong man, that most people would considering asshat... But beneath all the "assholeness" , there is a gem 💎of a guy to be found only by the RIGHT woman. And, ladies & gents, Carter Strong was that guy, and it took Miss Sasha Chambers,,the no nonsense referee, .... Oh Strong, you've finally meet your Gotdamn match!
Well, Carter Strong wised up, and win Miss Chambers heart. Carter is no fool, he knows a good thing, in this case , a wonderful, beautiful, sensational woman, and he wasn't going to let her away. After all , he is too old to play games, he knows what he wants,he moves the obstacles and go for it,..or her.
A wonderful read!! Great characters!
The parents are hilarious! And Christine, I love that girl.
Was really nice to hang out with Zora & Harvey, wish I seen the kids though
Can't wait for Declan

Carter and Sasha lit it up !! 💗💯

Carter (Me Three Movement Book 1) by Xyla Turner is a book about how the world depicts us as women. It is really bought to focus when a woman works in a predominately male position of sports official or referee. I remember reading about the drastic difference in the pay scale. Regarding sports, it is ridiculous. Carter is a well-known, well-loved and out spoken coach. Sasha transfered to a new league but she's and outstanding sports official (referee). These two forces of nature met on the court, where Sasha threw Carter out of the game! Carter was not accustomed to being handled, blew a fuse. It was on from that point. Buy this book, you'll love it. See how they worked it out. Carter and Sasha about set my Kindle on fire! Zora and Harvey from Take A Knee were also in the house💗. Xyla Turner is a favorite of mine. I 1-click Every time!💯

Good Read

Sasha was definitely "Fierce.". Almost too fierce in the beginning . I was almost turned off by her uncompromising attitude. Carter was a character and also able to take a look at himself and make the needed change. I was relieved when Sasha finally mellowed out some.
I'm excited for their relationship. I hope to find out more about both of their back stories.
A point of *Correction* in the book: when Sasha's Dad was arguing with Carter about Basketball Greats Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, her Dad had a picture of him and Kobe while Kobe was playing College Ball and he was one of the Refs. Well, Kobe didn't play College ball, he was drafted straight into the
NBA from high school ( Lower Merian). After LeBron did the same, the NBA subsequently instituted the "One and Done" Rule where players have to attend at least one year of College.

I enjoyed the main characters as well as the supporting ones. I like how old characters are woven into the story to show their connections and giving the "its a small world" feel. In true XT fashion, I'd swear this book is following real people with real issues. I enjoyed the characters, conversations, tension, conflicts, pacing, plot, most everything....except the editing. As I've stated in other reviews, XT's books are too good NOT to be edited flawlessly. It cheats the characters of their story, the reader of a fluid read, and the author of a polished work.

This is an adult read with foul language on the court and nasty talk off the court. Alpha personalities are showcased with steamy interactions that don't feel forced, at all.

What to say......

Hmmm! This author is an auto click for me. Her stories will draw you in so tightly and leave you feening for the next one! Her characters make you cheer loudly for their HEA! The plot/storyline satisfies but manages to hook you for the next release!
Carter is in line of strong men who have been pulled up and made to take notice of everything outside their privileged lifestyle. His honest and self reflection made me a fan! His determination to get the girl had him fighting for a spot in my top five of XYLA’S male heroes!
Just buy the book and thank me and her later! She’s a great storyteller and you WON’T be disappointed!
