From the words of this dying messenger, Marek will learn fragments of his own past, which his father wanted hidden.Shocked by the news of a sibling he never knew existed, and to solve the mystery of his heritage, Marek embarks on a journey north. At a remote castle in the icy Black Forest, he will discover shocking truths about himself, and the seductive castle inhabitants who attempt to lure him towards a way of life that will both thrill and repulse him. This is a good read if you're keen to return to the gothic style of vampirish stories, which more recently has taken a modern slant. A 17 year old boy, Marek, searches for his half sister, Oleander, and along the way discovers some very strange skills. Snippets of love there, but mostly he has to deal with his personal demons as well as 'the grotesque ones' who want to destroy him. Dramatic, not overly fast paced, but characters unusual and intriguing. Worth the money....
