There are some clever, fun stories in this anthology. While none of the blew me away, they were all entertaining, and I might go so far as to say a few were thought-provoking. They certainly made my drive to work easier (listened to the Audible version). A full review for each story will appear on my blog through the coming weeks.

I really enjoyed this collection of stories. So many brilliant ideas of what first contact with aliens would be like. I would highly recommend it.

Fair amount of decent stories

My favorites were probably the Future Days stories they tagged onto the end to be honest. Among the stories part of the anthology the last one reminded me of the last Fringe season a bit.

Overall, the stories felt a bit disjointed from each other and a bit jarring in flow. Good value but not nearly as good as the Future Days anthology that comes next in the series.

The wolves story had egregious spelling and grammar errors that should have been caught before publication. Spell check doesn't catch sliver for silver but a reader should. The errors marred an otherwise entertaining story.

Worth reading but I think some changes in reading order and subtle redacting of some of the stories by a good editor would have punched this anthology up a level.

This was a solid anthology about aliens in all facets. The story of Ambassador T will stick with me for a very long time. Each story was well written and in most cases, completely original. I loved how no one part of the collection took over the entire book. It was a group of stories by various authors which all had great bits and didn't seem to take themselves too seriously. There is freedom in enjoying a story when you know that it doesn't need to be taken as a part of the whole. I love short stories and some of these could make great movies. Lee Goettl narrated this set of stories and did a fantastic job of it.

This audio book was given to me at my request for my free and unbiased review.

Alien Days is full of rich stories that fueled my imagination. There are layers of additional storylines making the main story greater than it seems. I know there are entries in Alien Days I’m going to read again to enjoy the complexities. However, they are so well crafted you don’t need to catch all of nuances to enjoy reading them. I enjoyed what I read, and because I was reading under a timeline for writing a review, I am certain I didn’t catch everything presented in this spread of science-fiction literary delights.

Good, bad and ugly

My rating is an average score for some good and some poorly written stories. It is perhaps too generous since I found few excellent, many average and some poor stories. Some of the better narratives were marred by a splendid indifference to the use of the apostrophe, or by poor grammar. I nearly gave up early on. On balance, it was worth completing my reading of this collection. One or two stories I felt deserved more attention, to develop some good concepts

Full Disclosure: I have a story in this collection. My rating is for the other stories included in this.

I really enjoyed this epic romp through the universes of the authors contained in this anthology. This was definitely worth my time and now I'm going to track down some of these worlds over on Audible with those two credits burning a hole in my account.

Overall, I enjoyed this collection of short stories put out by PP Corcoran. There were plenty of engaging ideas from authors theorizing what first contact with aliens could be like. I would highly recommend it... and check out my story too! ;)
