This book is a hot mess. One look at the table of contents will reveal that the book is all over the map. The book is definitely repetitive in places, and the structure does not follow a logical pattern. With a topic like this, the book should open with a good background section which should be followed by a clearly defined method. Instead, here, the initial part is scattered and disorganized. I don't think they define autophagy quickly enough before they start using it everywhere. Because it is such an unusual word, the author should let the reader know that right away. I thought that the background information should have been structured more cleanly and less repetitively; there are several places where they could have said a concept once instead of over and over in different areas in the text. The authors seem to grapple with the idea of distinguishing regular fasting from autophagy water fasting; this actually happened in several places in the book. These concepts definitely need to be streamlined for the reader. The method that the authors suggest is not all set in one place. It is mostly after the background, but some of it is contained within the initial section as well. There is at least one chapter that should have been split into more to aid clarity. Some statements in the text contradicted each other. The medical claims seem outlandish at times and aren’t backed up with mentions or links to research.
There are definitely some issues with language. For one thing, I think the authors are trying to impress the reader with the use of medical- and scientific-sounding words. It is evident in places that they don't really seem to understand these terms. I am an RN, and I was surprised to see their description of the medical suffix of “-phagy” as “engulf”; it actually means to digest or to eat. There was at least one place where I just about laughed out loud because what they said was nonsensical: “In Type I and type II diabetes, fasting could aggravate the side effect of diabetes.” Mercy! Diseases have symptoms and complications; medications/drugs have side effects! And which “side effect” of diabetes could fasting aggravate? Aside from these aspects of language, the book is rife with grammatical, punctuation, and usage errors; it seems unlikely that this was self-edited (let alone professionally edited). Words were left in that should have been removed; in other places, words appeared to be missing. The language for the nonscientific jargon part of the text is a bit stilted in a way that makes me think that the authors may not be native English speakers. If you are interested in the topic of water fasting, I think you could find a better book on the subject.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This audiobook was really informative. I was already somewhat familiar with Intermittent Fasting but not Autophagy Fasting with water. This book shared a lot of good information on how fasting works , it's benefits to the body, and gave some good advice on preparing for the fast and getting through it.
This audiobook was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
This book is filled with doctor supported information that seems to have a lot of research behind it. I am trying this diet right now and am beginning to see results. It has only been a few days but I feel better with more energy, unlike other dietary changes I and friends/family have tried. I recommend this book.

I read a lot and so I am familiar with different writing styles. I found this book difficult to follow at best and completely unclear at worst. It reminded me of books that have been translated into English in which sentence structure varies and can render the manuscript hard to understand. If this book were my first read about water fasts I would be completely lost. I can not recommend this book.
Are the authors supposed to be Dr. Jason Fung and Eric Berg? What credentials do "Jason Berg" and "Eric Fung" possess? While this book had some good information, not all of the information was sound advice, and it was very poorly written. This read like a rough draft that hadn't gone through editing...so many grammatical and punctuation errors. It causes the book to lack authority. I do not recommend this one.
This book is a scam. The authors you want for fasting info are Eric Berg and Jason Fung. Someone slapped together a bunch of gibberish and switched the names around on the authors and are trying to pass it off. Do Not Read this but do search for books by the real authors. I couldn't figure out why all their other work was so well written and informative and this one is a disaster but once I realized the fake author thing, it all made sense.
Feels very self published without an editor; also highly repetitive. Perhaps this was written very early in Dr Fung's career; he has books that are far more professionally presented than this - I still found it to be worthwhile, but don't let this be your introduction to Fung. Also, it's not highly technical when it goes over the actual process of autophagy, but it's real expertise is when it focuses on fasting in general.
I hadn't heard of Autophagy Fasting so this was my first read on the subject. Although there was considerable repetition through the book, it may be due to reinforcing the concept. This was a very informative read and i am thinking of giving this a try.

I’ve never heard of Autophagy Fasting before and was interested in learning more about it. This book gave some helpful information. The book had some repetitive information and some writing errors but did have helpful information.

There seemed to be a good deal of information in this book, but it was extremely difficult to read. Poor sentence structure and punctuation issues contributed to the problems in following the text. In addition, the information about H. Pylori seemed to state that it was the cause of every ulcer, when, in fact, it causes about 70% of ulcers.
Having never really heard of Autophagy fasting I was interested to read and learn more. This book does have some issues, but it also has a lot of very good and useful information.
