Lord Silver mask slaughters some Lusitanian zealots but Bodin escapes. This volume focused on characters not in the core group for the most part. I feel the side characters are less detailed and less intriguing. We met the princesses of Maryam. Can anyone love Narsus and Daryun too much? Maybe they just steal the show when they’re around.
Picks up at the end for a battle with the one armed snake demon, who is waiting for Snake god Zuhhuk to return from Mount Demavant. The earthquake activity signals he is coming….

Le tremblement de terre issu du mont Demavand, où la légende dit que le roi serpent Zahâk serait emprisonné ne présage rien de bon pour le royaume parse, ni même pour le peuple lusitanien. Les desseins de ces sorciers adorateurs de Zahâk sont encore flous, mais au vu de leur violence et leur propension à assassiner des personnes pour – semble-t-il – le plaisir, il ne fait aucun doute qu’ils sont des ennemis redoutables.
Le prince Arslân a réussi à réunir bon nombre de guerriers prêts à prendre les armes pour défendre la Parse, et comme d’habitude Narsus est de précieux conseils pour organiser le tout au mieux et prévoir toutes les éventualités, même les plus désagréables.
Mais la ruse et l’intelligence n’est pas seulement l’apanage des allié⋅es d’Arslân, Hilmes est lui-même bien entouré avec Zandé et Sahm, tandis qu’ils cherchent à chasser Bodin de la citadelle de Zabûr. On voit d’ailleurs une évolution de Hilmes qui n’est pas déplaisante à voir, et probablement due aux paroles de Qbad dans le tome précédent qui l’accusait de se cacher derrière son masque.
Tandis que ces intrigues sont déjà préoccupantes, une arrivée tout droit du Maryam, royaume voisin de Parse et occupé par la Lusitanie, vient rajouter à l’échiquier. De quoi rencontrer de nouveaux personnages, dont le frère d’Alfrîd, du clan Zott, au caractère foncièrement différent de celui de sa sœur !
Je ne veux pas trop rentrer dans les détails de ce tome puisque c’est difficile à faire sans dévoiler des éléments de l’intrigue. Mais je suis ravie de la diversité des personnages, qui permet de rentrer d’autant plus dans l’histoire et de se sentir impliqué par le devenir de ces personnages.
Enfin, le tome se termine sur un quiproquos qui risque de mettre à mal certains alliés du prince Arslân !

Snakes... Why did it have to be snakes? Zahhāk is stirring, but the earthquake so far seems to have little consequence. More importantly, the battle at Zabul Fortress is underway. Will a success over the Lusitanian Templars be enough to make the people of Pars forget that Silver Mask Hilmes was instrumental in ushering in the deaths of tens of thousands at the hands of Lusitanian zealotry? It’s no wonder Parsian are rallying around Arslan! It seems that there were some survivors from the nation of Maryam. Kubard makes a reappearance. This volume brings a few new players to the story. It was good to get some backstory on the invasion of Maryam. The art and action around Daylam Region was some of the best of the series. The horn to the face was priceless! Great fun!

As always, brilliant. I'm starting to wonder if there's more trouble brewing for Arslan within his own camp. I hope I'm wrong. There's certainly enough trouble for him from outside the camp.
Kubard is great and I enjoyed seeing him in action again. Al-Farid's brother is a fun new addition. The Princess of Maryam is also going to be an interesting character. I was not expecting her to ally with whom she chose.
I've just pre-ordered the next installment. Come on October 1st!

Je déteste tellement Bodin... Il est beaucoup trop flippant.
Sinon,on a encore de nouveaux personnages. J'espère qu'ils vont rapidement rejoindre les persos principaux parce que c'est beaucoup de dispersion.
Malgré tout c'est un tome sympa, Arslan apprend enfin des choses sur sa famille.

Battles and drama
There is a lot of plot in this volume! Good stuff. The characters and their moods were very nicely drawn, too ;)
Arslan & Co are back in the Peshawar citadel, as more people rally to their cause.
The battle at the Zabul fortress, between the forces of Prince Hilmes and the Lusitanian ”Templars” was horrible and very well done. This series does the ugliness of religious fanaticism quite well.
(And it’s a pity Bishop Bodin managed to flee. Hate. His. Guts.)
Prince Hilmes gets to be on the cover this time. He is doing things he believes to be right, yet he is flawed and damaged, consumed by hatred. I wonder if there is some kind of redemption in store for him? The anime didn’t get that far in the story, we’ll see if the manga will.
Kubard journeys on, and meets Merlain, Alfarid’s younger brother. He is wondering where his sister is and is looking for her. It is obvious that Merlain has not read the previous volumes, then he would have known that she has been with Arslan & Co since forever already. Oh well. They in turn meet Princess Irina, a refugee from the neighbouring kingdom of Maryam. The Lusitanians conquered it as well. This complicates the plot.
We are treated to a lot of drama in the last pages!

Wir begleiten weiterhin Arslan auf seinem Weg. Wobei wir auch immer wieder Einblicke in die aktuelle Situation der anderen Parteien bekommen. Die Dynamik gefällt mir. Das hin und her sorgt dafür das aktuell keine Längen entstehen. Aber das sorgt auch dafür, dass es mittlerweile euch viele Personen gibt die wichtig erscheinen. Diesem Manga würde eine kleine Zusammenfassung oder eine kleine Übersicht der Personen mittlerweile doch sehr gut tun. Der Kampf um den Thron geht weiter.

I'm really only putting this year so I have something to put here but I don't feel like I can give a true review as it's been about a year since I last read the first 9 volumes of it. I will say the two new characters introduced in the middle, the bandit and the general, are some of my new favorites. I will reread the whole series again at some point, I'm sure.

悲しいです。
結局この巻終わった。でも嬉しい事もあった！私はアニメを見て、英語版の漫画も読んだからこの版読む前に話が知ってた。でも何か月前に英語版をやめて日本語だけで集中したんだ。この巻に新しいストーリあったんだのでうれしい。
最後のシーンはチョット不満だけどギーブは何でその行動するの！？まるでアルスラーン一行から抜けたいの真似！いやだ！いかないで！ギーブは多分私の一番好きなキャラ！行かないで！悪い性格は建前たけだよ！本心は優しいからどこでも行かないで！
