Dr. Gemma Madarian is far from her home in the human Sectors, kidnapped along with hundreds of other humans to be used for horrifying experiments conducted on a remote planet by alien scientists.
She and another prisoner, Camron of the Badari, are the only survivors of a deadly crash landing. She’s paired up with the genetically engineered soldier by their mutual enemies and sent fleeing through rough country, hunted for pleasure by an enemy officer and his ferocious trackers.
The enemy wants a triumphant kill. Gemma and Camron want to survive.
Camron never dreamt of having a mate but Gemma shatters his preconceptions and makes him desperate to do everything in his power to save her life and claim her for his.
There’s no help or refuge to be had in the desert where they’re fleeing for their lives. Or is there?
Will Camron and Gemma live to fight another day and explore the growing attraction between them, or will ancient secrets and bitter rivalries end their bid for freedom?
This is the eighth book in the Badari Warriors world (and the seventh book in the numbered series) and each novel has a satisfying Happy for Now ending for the hero and heroine, not a cliffhanger. Some overarching issues do remain unresolved in each book since this is an ongoing series but romance always wins the day in my novels! Veronica Scott grew up in a house with a library as its heart. Dad loved science fiction, Mom loved ancient history and Veronica thought there needed to be more romance in everything. When she ran out of books to read, she started writing her own stories.

Elvis Presley’s best friend once serenaded Veronica on a local TV telethon…now that could be a novel…
I really like this series. It's based on a group of warriors who were designed and produced to be used as soldiers for a cruel alien race. Some of the (Badari) warriors escaped, and now they are working to free others, along with humans who have been captured. This book was good. Plenty of action and challenges. The heroine is feisty and intelligent. Camron is a hunk. Scott's worldbuilding is very good. She does a great job of creating characters who act in a way you'd think they should. The Badari Warriors were created in labs, so they don't know about life, about courtship, about how men and women interact with one another. It's fun to explore that with them via this book series.
Camron is the latest hero in Veronica Scott's compelling series about genetically engineered soldiers. They seem so real because Ms Scott infuses them with humanity, emotions, and spirituality. You don't need to read the books in order. Each is a stand-alone.
Gemma is another human, kidnapped to be used for alien experiments similar to what the aliens do to the Badari. This time, Camron & Gemma are freed, only to be used as prey for the alien's pleasure of hunting and killing. I love how the aliens underestimate the resilience and stamina of both the warrior and the human. As in all of Ms Scott's books, the characters are well developed and the plot gripping. Camron is another winner.
In the next book, Mateer’s mate Megan has her baby, the first Badari-human offspring. So, Camron bringing home another doctor as a mate, especially one with “Doctors Without Borders” style experience helping mothers and newborns, is another Bardari goddess gift. (My words, though certainly in the spirit of Badari’s outlook on divine timing.)
Camron was one of three Bardari dropped off in quadrants where they suspected a Sectors shuttle may have gone down. No shuttle for Cameron, only capture by the Khagrish.
There is a new Khagrish security expert with authority over all of the individual lab sites, and he’s fond of hunting, so the local Khagrish scientist is bringing along three human women and her new pet for the Khagrish’s amusement. The Khagrish pilot is ill and the shuttle crash lands, killing all but Camron and Gemma. And so Camron and Gemma must race for freedom, dodging the new Khagrish tech able to detect Bardari.
A highlight in their escape: we once again encounter the third strain of Bardari, the reptilian Tzibir. Their alpha is addicted to alcohol, and the enforcer Tratus, along with their healer and generation 10 alpha born, do everything within their power to help Camron and Gemma escape. Their hope is that the generation 9 alpha born is ready to challenge the alpha when he returns from the mission the Khardish have sent him on. Yes, the drunk alpha is in contact with the Khardish. (Spoiler: Tratus has a book.)
Camron is caught in a Khagrish lab. He and a few humans are on a transport when it crashes. Gamma is a human Dr. She and Camron escape and go on the run. They are recaptured and then escape while on a disgusting hunt. Camron and Gamma have a very exciting adventure and fall in love. It's a great story. I loved it. What is this sickness the Khagrish suffer? What will happen to the other reptilian Badari?
I enjoyed reading this book in the series! I liked that it kind of departed from the way the other stories unfolded in that Camron and Gemma were being hunted. Good survival stories and twists and turns! The spiders... I cringed while reading it. Scary, but perfect situation. We met some old “friends” and I could def see some stories developing from that situation. Enjoyable read! 4 Stars
Gemma and two other women are culled from the lab as special slaves for the new head Khagrish and Camron got caught with a new scanner and is drugged and on a antigrav device. The pilot was coughing and got sicker and crashed them.
Another new character for the series and a look into a different broad of Badari. I enjoyed the story and Camron's fight for both his and his mates freedom. Great series that is staying fresh.
The seventh book in the Sectors New Allies series by Veronica Scott. Dr. Gemma Madarian, another human kidnapped for the Khagrish's experiments and Camron, one of the Badari warriors are the only survivors when the craft they are in crashes. They are recaptured and forced to run and hide as an evil predator hunts them. But soon the hunted becomes the hunter.
I love this series and look forward to more. Many series fizzle by this time but this one seems to still be going strong.
