Giant monsters roam the land.

Civilization is frozen in a savage age. For one young hunter named Alden, power and survival are one and the same. An ancient evil once ravaged his village and murdered his ancestors. Now the darkness has returned. At the same time, political fighting hurls Alden into a series of gladiator battles for control of the throne.

When Alden takes possession of a cursed sword promising untold power, the hunter is determined to save his people by slaying every monster standing between him and the throne. But the angry ghost trapped inside the blade has other ideas...

An ongoing series
Savage Hunters is an ongoing Young Adult fantasy series set in an alternate-world Neolithic era. Teams of hunters use spirit magic to take down predators the size of buildings. The monsters devour metal to gain strength, and society is frozen at the dawn of agriculture. But nothing can stop Human ingenuity, and the hunters soon discover a way to fashion giant weapons from metal-laced bones. The Savage Hunters novels are structured like Japanese light novels with internal manga illustrations.

So this was something new for me. I've never even heard of a Japanese light novel before I stumbled on this via the author's Twitter.

I really liked it. It's light (sorry), it's fun, it's entertaining. A good little read, with a fun world and a promising premise.

And it's currently free, so check it out!

Looking forward to book two.
