This is the only series of books I've read in its entirety - 6 novels and 3 novellas. Shani has created both an original and often thought provoking series with a great cast of characters.
Ruby and her team get asked to visit Blakemort, an old, run down house that no one seems to know much about. It's almost as if it doesn't really exist. This sets in motion a chain of events that uncovers secrets, satanic practices and changes for the Psychic Surveys team.
I really like the team work work and friendships between Ruby and her colleagues, and when things get rough, or in this case, dark, they stick together. Some of the story does cover macabre and violent topics, but they are worked into the story well and balanced out with some lighter (four legged) parts!
Another excellent supernatural thriller from Shani, and I hope to see the Psychic Surveys team again soon.
Once again Shani has written a gripping book that has had me gripped from start to finish! She never fails to completely immerse you in the story and keep you hooked and wanting more. I would love to own a signed boxset of The psychic surveys series, I cannot recommend them enough.
I have enjoyed reading all the Psychic Series books so I eagerly dived into Legion. It certainly didn’t disappoint and had me riveted right from the start up until the nail biting last page. Once again it’s well written and the author obviously does a lot of research so she mixes fact with fiction which I find fascinating and works really well. Legion revisits one of the most scary houses ever to exist - Blakemort with its powerful dark secrets. We meet up with the rest of the crew and I love the way Shani weaves layers of intrigue, suspense and secrets surrounding those characters which threaten to spill and possibly consume. Ruby remains the lynchpin and is a fantastic character. I recommend starting at the beginning of the series for the most enjoyment though Legion also works as a standalone. I can’t wait to read the next book in this enthralling series. Shani is definitely a one click, five star author to me
Absolutely awesome as always!! Carrying on in the series this book despite being in the series takes a slightly different angle to the others and gives a twist to the teams usual jobs. It sheds some light on characters pasts and acts as a sort of semi introduction to the spin off series which I'm currently reading now (of course!) Overall The story is amazing and well written and everything flows so well as always! The characters -especially Jed the spirit dog, are so well written and loved that I really do think I will miss the main characters in the other books but they will need the break 😉 no spoilers here!!
This last book was wonderful if only a little predictable, but by no means made it any less enjoyable. I really got into the book and caught myself smiling and crying sometimes. The whole series was truly a hot to read. It really kept my attention to the point of feeling. I was part of the books.
I love how all of her books tie together so I can go back and reread them over and over. I always find some new detail or something that makes another book in the series make more sense. This is no different. This series has kept me from sleeping more because I am an avid book addict but the thrill of it all is a very guilty pleasure too. I like books that make me think and ones I can’t figure out. Shani does that almost effortlessly.
Wow Wow Wow another amazing book by the extremely talented Shani Struthers. You aren't just reading you feel like you are there she is so descriptive. I personally would recommend all of her books
Another fantastic book by Shani Struthers. They just seem to keep getting better and better. I hope this isn't the last we've seen of Psychic Surveys, although I must admit, they could probably all do with a break after this outing!
What a read! It was good to catch up with psychic surveys team. Blakemort....what a horrifying place! Netty George, I’m glad she is now happy, well, happy as she could be. Ruby, you can’t give up, we need you!
Just like Blakemort, I was completely stuck in this book. Following the update and downs of Ruby and The Psychic Surveys Team as been an emotional rollercoaster but I want it to continue and see what happens next. This my friends is a sign of an amazing book, series and an amazing writer. Well done.
Having read the previous five Psychic Surveys series, I have to say that the sixth has dragged me through the emotional wringer and out the other side breathless as the team return to Blakemort and uncover it's horrifying secrets. Sad yet uplifting, I was teary eyed more than once (and not always over a living, human character) and went through the entire emotional spectrum during the book. I hesitate to call it a ghost or haunted house story as it's so much more than that and much like the first five - and the spin offs - this is highly recommend!
You know what to expect from a Shani Struthers' book, intrigue, mystery, excitement, apparitions aplenty but, most of all, hope. This story was no exception even though, rather surprisingly, it pointed towards a touch of "darkness" residing deep within all of the main characters. That said, everyone is always capable of lifting themselves up towards the light (with a bit of help from the "Psychic Surveys" team). Highly recommended!
Loved the characterisation. Liked the twists. A great read but read the prequel before, it adds the background and breathes a marvellous insight into the fourth protagonist and my favourite Corinna.
These books are stand alone but can also be read as the series . The books are very well written and you learn about the complexities of the characters relationships and how they develop while investigating the haunted location. Cant wait until the next one .
Absolutely loved how frighteningly good this was!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this addition to the Psychic Surveys series! Definitely a page turner and hard to put down! Had myself creeped out reading it late at night with the lights out! I really hope to read more soon!!
I can only hope Shani doesn't end this series here because she is gifted at writing tasteful paranormal stories. The characters are all loveable, and they all have good intentions. The story has some energy to it, and keeps you turning the pages to read the ending quickly because ya just need to know what happens!
A gripping and suspenseful supernatural must read book for any horror readers!
As always Shani Struthers manages to write another amazing book with a storyline that captures you from the start. I have long awaited this book from the moment I read the blakemort book and I wasn't disappointed. It's a dark and great supernatural storyline that never fails to deliver a spooky thrill from start to finish. What more could you ask for in a supernatural book. Still i look forward to reading more by this amazing and talented author!
What a truly fantastic book, I have all of Shani' s Books, and not one of them disappoints... I feel like I'm very connected with all the Characters, I've laughed and cried... very highly recommend reading all her Books🥰
I love this author's stories and her writing style. Her prose is thought provoking and feeds the soul of us still seeking answers. I have loved reading about the life and times of Ruby Davis. She is sensitive and caring regarding spirit.
Another outstanding supernatural thriller by this author, it had me on edge literally and physically. The house Blakemort is a terrifying house that has reared its ugly head which holds many secrets and horrors to hide. As usually the psychic survey team turn up to help Rosie and Dan who currently live at the house because of unusual things going bump in the night and day a living nightmare.
The really bad mistake is that you should never cross the threshold because the house taints, haunts and feeds off your inner most secrets. Dare you turn the first page and be truly haunted by a house. It's only a house you say.
This book literally gave me a few sleepless nights, this book will stay with me even long after it's finished.
Looking forward to the next book as this brilliant author has never disappointed me.
The only problem is that I am left with an ....... oh my god what's next shock horror. All of this author's books have left me hungry for more of what Shani Struthers has to deliver.
I usually tear thru these books & can't put them down. This one took me a couple days to finish. There wasn't a lot of mystery & most of the book seems like a rehash of other books in the series & it's companion series. Not a lot of surprises - one which may have delighted others I didn't think it added anything to the story. It was nice the way things happened for Ruby & Cash but otherwise it was unsatisfying & kind of boring. I think it swayed too far out of the character development that has taken place & it went beyond the Blakemort influence. Too many unanswered questions. The very end was just stupid. I have it 3 stars only because I'm a fan of the series & 2 seemed too low but 3 is too high. It just missed the mark with me & Shani Struthers hadn't once done that since I started reading her books.
The characters seems like old friends, now. I like them all. Like many others I've been hoping for a return visit since reading the fantastic 'Blakemort', a dreadful kind of hope, from the darkest part of one's psyche. Shani Struthers knows her readers, and has slaked - for now - the twisted thirst for more of the most tainted house in Sussex. 'Legion' feasts upon the dark side in us all and no-one is immune, not even Ruby and her Psychic Survey cohorts...especially not Ruby... This latest novel in the brilliant Psychic Surveys series is utterly gripping, 'Legion' grabs you by the hand and drags you kicking and screaming into the vortex of Blakemort and doesn't let go until the final page, leaving you breathless, terrified yet wanting more...absolutely superb.
I didn’t hate the book or anything, it is a solid story but I think the writing was spewing facts and ‘telling me’ more than actually showing me through solid scenes and world building. The story was compelling but it really dragged on and the story finally got more interesting in the last 2 or 3 chapters. In addition to this, there were some parts of the story that failed to meaningfully impact the story even if they were repeatedly described to have a really strong impact on the characters’ psyche, they just proved inconsequential to the plot and to the dangers Blakemort posed to the characters.
Legion is the sixth and final book in this Psychic Surveys series. Ruby, Theo, Ness and Corinna face their biggest challenge yet when they are asked to investigate Blakemort, which is far from your ordinary haunted house. Oh how I loved this book. It was brilliant. Easy to read and quick paced it had me gripped from beginning to end. I am genuinely sorry to see this series end, but I am looking forward to see what Shani Struthers does with the next series. I have a feeling it may be even better.
Absolutely amazing story. I was excited for ruby and cash on expecting a baby and getting married. Glad that the house burned down and all those horrible things are now just a memory.
