Shaving Points

Rate this book
Shaving Points tells the compelling story of what happens when professional basketball players use money, power, and brutality as a means of controlling the outcome of games. Having been denied an ownership stake since the league’s inception, players’ loyalties now reside with player syndicates rather than with the teams whose jerseys they wear. Anyone who gets in their way is risking their lives and Leah James’, the innocent girlfriend of one of the players, pays the ultimate price for her lover’s association with the syndicates.

Leah’s body is found lying among the washed-up trash of the Schuylkill River. Detective Joe James, her father, wants nothing more than to catch the animals who took his daughter from him. Known as a legend on the Philadelphia police force, Joe sets out on a dangerous journey as he attempts to discover who caused Leah to be unwillingly tattooed with a beautiful and unusual design before she was killed.

Shaving Points tells the riveting story of how professional players and Las Vegas are inextricably linked. With the help of a quirky bookie, a rising star, and a conflicted tattoo artist, Joe builds an unlikely team committed to making the game competitive again and to avenge Leah’s death.

Shaving points exposed the seedier side of pro sports. I would recommend this book to a reader who wants to know about the inner workings of pro sports
