Wisteria Witches #10

Wishful Wisteria

Rate this book
What goes around comes around, so be careful who you bite.

It's September, which is a rainy month in Wisteria, and a storm is brewing.

When a magic mechanic takes The Big Nap in a comfy chair at the library, suspicion turns to the local librarian witch. What has Zara Riddle done now? Poisoned the guy for talking too loud? She shrugs off the accusations, as usual, and tries to help with the investigation, also as usual.

But this time around, the local vampire detective isn't swinging by Zara's house to take her along for the ride. He may be Zara's boyfriend after hours, but when it comes to solving crimes, he has a new partner. For Zara, dealing with "that girl" is like getting turned into a cat, then being petted backward, from tail to nose. It's just wrong!

Worst of all, the town's new ghost is becoming an international celebrity, attracting outsiders and media attention.

Once the library is overrun by a horde of ghost hunters, Zara and her coven attempt to resolve the haunting. Can the motley crew of witches actually cooperate in the face of imminent danger? Or will they succumb to dark forces?

In the end, Zara will find herself caught in the middle of a battle she never expected, much less wanted.

This series makes me smile

As I reach the end of book 10, I am sad to have to wait for the next book to come out. Over the last year I have eagerly read one Wisteria book after the last, struggling to read other series because of how much joy this series puts into my life. I love all the characters, the mysteries, and the world of Wisteria Witches. If you have not read any of the series I recommend picking up at the beginning and reading each book. I may even have to give it a re-read while I wait for the next book to release.

As a side note, I do not know if Angela Pepper reads these reviews, but if she does I want to say, thank you. Reading this series makes me smile and helps me find a calm mind when I am having anxiety attacks. It has become something I can reliably find comfort in and I appreciate that wholeheartedly.

I loved this book! I loved the relationship between Zara and Bentley. I felt bad for the man who passed away in the library because I feel like he was a good man. I love that Zara is immediately on the case and trying to figure out why he’s haunting her. I thought it was funny when she got the drunken spell cast on her and she ended up in the drunk tank. I loved how they started getting all kinds of business at the library with people trying to find the ghost of the old man.

2020 bk 11. Angela Pepper continues to develop her characters as multi dimensional, showing both good and bad sides. In this, we are introduced to a mechanical ghost, his family, and learn about his particular talent in keeping cars running most efficiently. Surprisingly, the one witch that Zara has the most difficulties relating to, turns out to be the one who ultimately is most helpful. Another enchanting read from Pepper.

I received an ARC copy from the author to read and review. I loved this book for so many reasons. If you like the paranormal and mythical creatures you will love this one. All of the characters are witches, vampires, sprites, shifters, etc. Each one has their own good perspective that when combined helps to solve the mystery. The plot is filled with a mysterious death caused by unknown means. There begins the journey by Zara to help her vampire detective boyfriend and his new partner try to determine what happened and who is responsible. Along the way there are new family members found, old hurts healed, and love. I can't say enough wonderful things about this book. This one my favorite in the series.

This is Wishful Wisteria, Wisteria Witches Mysteries - Daybreak 3, written by Angela Pepper. We finally get more information on Zara and Zoey and their pasts. And, as usual, we are chasing some sort of story on the side. Harry Blackstone was a normal fixture in the library, where Zara works. Life is always great....before it isn't. Then we have all sorts of out- of- town ghost hunters running around investigating in the library. And, oh yeah, Zara's Dad is back in town, and that usually means trouble for Zara and all of friends. Lets see what sort of trouble Zara can dig up in this recent addition to the zaniness that is Wisteria!

The lovely Angela Pepper emailed me with my audio code, but told me “No rush to listen/review. Take your time. It will be a couple of months before book 11 comes out.” Oh, right… that’s like saying, “here’s this lovely chocolate cheesecake, but you don’t have to eat it right away. No worries. Any time is fine.” Wisteria ALWAYS moves to the top of my what-am-I-listening-to-next. I pounced on this and I’ll worry about when I’ll see another slice of cheesecake (another Wisteria witch) later.

WISHFUL WISTERIA is the tenth book in the Wisteria Witches series. Though each could probably stand alone, I recommend them all so why not read them in the order of release.

Since my fiancé loves those ghost-hunting type of shows, this story gave me even more of a chuckle. I could imagine any number of the semi-empathic, drama-driven divas descending on the Wisteria Library just for a chance to exploit the newest ghost in town.

Zara’s family situation becomes more complicated, but it opens the door for more experiences in the Wisteria World.

I love all of the different types of characters – witches, shifters, sprites, trolls, etc. – making for a colorful cast and exciting life in a magical town.

Putting this to the top of my TBR list was not a mistake. As always, spending time in Wisteria is a joy that makes the drive time fly (and my desire to leave the car & enter the workplace even harder than usual). In a perfect world, there would be enough Wisteria books to have a new audiobook every week – after all I have a lot of commute to cover!

Narration: Tiffany Williams did another beautiful job creating the Wisteria world. She is the voice of Zinnia, Zara, Zoey, Frank, and the rest of my favorite characters.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

It's hard to believe that I've made it to and through Book 10. Zara's continuing to come into her own as a witch (it was so nice to see her referred to as more than novice). I'm so glad to see that . This book also did a great job of seeing Zoey in a more "teenage" light; we've gotten so much from Zara's "my amazing kid" perspective, but what we saw Zoey going through was much more relatable. On that same note, it's so nice to see Zoey making friends, .

One thing that I'm disappointed about is the editing. I noticed a couple of missing punctuation marks on the Kindle version. It was very jarring, but not enough of a problem to make me put away this book.

I'm enjoying what we've seen of Bentley up to this point. I wasn't sure if I would like them together, but they've pleasantly surprised me. Likewise, I wasn't thrilled about his new partner (especially with where the last book left off). But it all played out beautifully, and I was very happy with the ending scene.

I think my favorite thing about this book is how many secrets were revealed from various family members. I liked seeing the two miniseries worlds collide (although, Zara joining the bowling league was a bit random), and I liked the little bit of recap that we as readers got while Zara was discovering information firsthand. Even though some of the information wasn't "new" to us, it was still fun to stand in Zara's shoes and experience her feelings about everything new. I'm very interested to see how all of these new, not-so-new, and mended relationships play out in the next book.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
After the bombshell dropped at the end of the last book, time moves forward and the Riddle women are both dealing with the recent the changes in their lives, positive and negative.
We’ve gotten to know a lot more of the mysteries of Wisteria and the Riddle family but there are more secrets unfolding. Zara is surrounded by supernatural family and friends
This volume is packed with the characteristic humor, heart and haunting mysteries that the series is known for. You will be chortling with laughter, gasping at twists and have your heart warmed by reunions and new relationships formed. We see more overlap between the different series seen in Wisteria including some welcome new additions. This volume ends on a very positive note and one feels the series drawing to a close. Not yet. This is not the epic conclusion but it does make me already miss my visits to this small community full of witches, ghosts, shapeshifters, sprites and more.
Tiffany Williams is back and once again elevates narration beyond merely reading to giving a lively performance that brings each characters unique voice to life.
Highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of Wisteria.

This is my review of the audio version as posted on Audible:

It's a comeback for me to Wisteria and it's as much fun as it was with the previous books, though this time the focus is I feel on Zara's personal life rather than solving the ghostly mystery:)

The starting point is simple - an older gentlemen, known to be terminally ill, dies in his sleep in the local library... The problem is, he doesn't leave the place and his ghost is a beacon for all the ghost hunters in the area, which drives the library workers crazy. So Zara has to do something about it - and she does, in her unique style:)

All the old characters are there, as colorful and quirky as we've learned to love them, and there are some new ones who complete that wonderfully nutty, wacky, insane crowd:) Zara's personal life gets even more twisted with every book and as always she manages to survive the unexpected by not taking anything too seriously... The plot is fast, with lots of twists and turns and makes for a really entertaining cozy mystery..

Narration by Ms Williams is very good, with nice voicing of individual characters and quite a bit of good acting:)

This books is action packed, there is alot going on that helps wrap up alot of the story lines.
Zara and Bentley are happy, Zoey has a boyfriend, Zinnia is still on vacation and Archer and Rhys are back more in this book. How can she help her friend Charlize? What is up Bentley and his new partner? When is Zinnia coming back? Why is Archer there? There is another shifter in town, who can it be that can talk with Zara.
You will see more of the characters interacting, Zara trying to help to find the murderer of the guy that had asked for her help. She will start to learn more about herself and others.
As you see the closure of some story lines and say goodbye to some characters, you see the beginning of new ones. What is instore for Zara and gang in future books, do not know and can not wait to find out.
This book was wonderfully written, once you start reading it, you will want to keep going until you reach the end. There is the perfect blend of emotions and more the world the author is building in her books. I personally can not wait to see what else is going to happen next in Wisteria.

I received an ARC copy of this book, this is my honest opinion and review of the book.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

I greatly enjoyed this audiobook, another interesting, and not too stressful, magical mystery set in Wisteria. I liked the way that the characters from the different strands of the Wisteria books are gradually coming together, and I’m definitely enjoying Zara and Bentley’s ongoing relationship. After all the hassle with Chet, it’s lovely to see her in a happy relationship. I did miss Zoe though, she hardly came into this one at all. I hope that she’ll be a bigger part of the next one.

The narration was excellent, as always. Tiffany Williams has a way of bringing the story alive, and her expression is always spot on.

I’d definitely recommend this audiobook, no doubt I’ll be doing another listen through of this series at some point in the not too distant future.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook. My opinions are my own.

We met with Zara again... and just in time to witness a mysterious death at the library! Zara is dead-set in helping his boyfriend, Detective Bentley, to discover who (and how!) killed Harry Blackstone. All of that, of course, while she and Zoey are dealing with the revelations from the last book :P

As you can imagine, there are a lot of subplots here: Zara and Zoey backstory; old a new family's members; Charlize job's situation, Bentley's new partner, her Aunt Zinnia and her friends from the Wisteria Permit Department...

A lot of the threads of previous books are closed and new ones are open, some characters are gone and new ones arrive and all of these comes with the usual fantastic, fun writing that Angela Pepper delivers, and I really can't have enough of it.

Another fantastic addition to this series ♥

And, as always, Tiffany Williams' narration is perfect :)

The mystery, snarky, sass continues in this really fun YA cozy sketchy mystery. This book starts out with Zara and her boyfriend the detective (newly created vampire) investigating a new murder with the body being found this time in the library, and there's a new black fox shifter in town. The narration is perfect and so entertaining that it kept me up late (actually early into the morning hours) to finish it.

** Quick parental warning - 17+ readers, this story has some sexual attraction, the relationship has heated up, there are plenty of insinuations. Although, there are no sex scenes due to the "door" being closed pretty quickly and is kept very clean.

I enjoy this series and had the opportunity to listen to this book.
In this story we learn Harry Blackwell is the original builder of the Jazzy Pumpkin, Zara’s car, has a twin, and passes in his sleep in the library. His ghost brings tons of out-of-town ghost hunters.

Why won’t Harry pass over? How can Zara help him? Read and find out. Fast paced, zany story. Learn more about Zara, Petunia Rose and her father. This spends more time on the personal side of Zara’s life but there is a mystery in there.

Looking forward to the next installment.
The narrator does a wonderful job!!!!!

Zara is back and ready to solve another crime. This picks up exactly where the previous left off, pretty important to read the series in order. Lots of relationship loose ends get wrapped up and then some. She and her Aunt Zinnia team up with friends from the Wisteria Permit Department to do some witchery and spells. These friends are plenty familiar if you've read Zinnia's series. Always a pleasure to read these quirky characters in their quaint town. I received an early copy, review written voluntarily.

Wishful Wisteria (Wisteria Witches #10) was a great read by Angela Pepper. A magic mechanic dies in a comfy chair at the library. Unfortunately suspicion turns Zara’s way, and she tries to help with the investigation. But unfortunately her boyfriend after hours, a vampire detective, has a new partner. The newest ghost is becoming and international celebrity. The library becomes overrun by ghost hunters; and Zara and friends try to resolve the haunting. I enjoyed this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

I love, love, love these zany Riddle ladys! So much so that I became an Advanced Reader for the lovely Angela Pepper. So while this may not say confirmed purchase I have read all of these books! Each twist this author takes us on is simply amazing. I love the way her mind works and the ability to give all three leading Riddles their own unique quirks. I can't wait for future books so I can follow these threads she weaves so effortlessly into the story. More, more, more!

I need more.

I love all the characters and I love how they are all given so much depth in this book, not that they didn’t have it before. This book really shows the relationships & dynamics and brings everything together. I felt happy and satisfied the way only finishing a good book can do, don’t get me wrong though, I’m still excited for the next adventure. Excellent book by an amazing writer.

Perfect trip home to wisteria

As always a nice visit to Wisteria, I just wish I could of stayed longer, or didn't have to so long before my next trip! The Cookey family shenanigans are perfectly wonderful and slightly relatable. Zara has really grown through the series and it really shows in this installment. Zoey the perfect daughter shows a bit more of her age, thankfully, no body should be infallible. Please can I have an Aunt Z!

Disclaimer: I love Angela Pepper books and especially the WISTERIA WITCHES!
There was a body in the Library! The Medical Examiner said "The perpetrator picked a peck of poisoned peppers"! A great fun story that's so good that it doesn't matter if this is the first you've tried. Bet it won't be the last!
Narrator Tiffany Williams is terrific at magnifying the fun factors.

"There's a secret landfill for magic in the middle of Indiana." Gotcha!

When a mechanic friend of her father's dies in his favourite chair at the library, Zinia and her co-workers are besieged by hoards of ghost hunters and Zinia sets out to help resolve the odd circumstances of his death and help send him on his way.
Meanwhile, family secrets are uncovered and her coven builds new relationships.
Another of the always entertaining and charmingly amusing Riddle family tales from the little town of Wisteria.

Brilliant just Brilliant!

Angela Pepper has become my number one favourite author. She has such an amazing imagination. Her characters are smart and funny with the perfect amount of sass. There's no fowl language, no disgustingly graphic scenes. It's the perfect balance to be entertaining for anyone who might like to escape into a realm of possibility, intrigue and magic. Read these books in the right order.

wishful Wisteria

This I enjoyed I did not expect Bentley to turn the way he did but it got so nicely into story. Then when Bentleys partner came into the story it took me a little time to figure where she fit in but it is a great storyline. I like how the houses keeps if I town accord. I was surprised when ribbons showed up the story at Zara's house. Read the story to enjoy all the twists and turns come your way.

What a great series. Love how Zara has grown since she first came to Wisteria. The plot in this story was well presented, it was the cream of the story. So many twists and plot leads were ingrained into the story that I had to keep reading to see what would happen next. Highly recommend to all mystery lovers.

Wonderful!!

Angela Pepper has yet to deliver a book I don’t like. I’ve read 10 of her books now and they’re all page turners!! I don’t know what I’m going to do when the series is over. This book has probably been my favorite yet. I’m screaming it from the mountain tops y’all. Read it! Read all of these Wisteria books! 👍🏽❤️

Gets is back in Zara's life and he has a secret to be found out by Zara. Bentley was married before to a film star. A new witch joins the coven and is very impulsive which leads to alsort of problems. A visitor to the library dies and for some unknown reason Zara is not able to help him in her usual way.

A change of pace

I so love these Riddle women! While this story is a bit of a departure and focuses more on character building and relationships (the murder mystery is definitely secondary!), this still provides a good read. The reveals and and the conclusion are a bit anticlimactic; however, Bentley's past has intriguing potential to bite Zara in the butt...
