Compiled over the last decade by the editor-in-chief of the website Just One Bad Century (www.justonebadcentury.com) , this is the most Cubrehensive look ever at the men who wore Cubbie Blue. Author Rick Kaempfer has been a Cubs fan since 1968 and has seen hundreds of games at Wrigley Field, but has lived an otherwise normal and relatively defensible life.

This is the end result of an amazing project. Arranged in alphabetical order, the author has at least a paragraph, sometimes several, for every Cub player, manager, general manager, owner and broadcaster since 1871! The book is not loaded with statistics. Those can be found in Baseball Reference. Instead, it is full of anecdotes, some which will never be forgotten, others that are long forgotten. For every person, the years of their association with the Cubs is shown. I read the book in its alphabetical order, but focused on the people associated with the Cubs since 1950. You are reminded of many things when you read this. One is the knack the Cubs had of letting go of great players just as they were ascending to their peak years. Lou Brock is the most famous example, but there are dozens of others. The Cubs were also great at latching on to great players.......after they were all washed up. A very enjoyable read.
