Wow.Just Wow!! I was definitely not expecting events to take such a dramatic turn. This the Merikans at their absolute best.Talk about going down a dark road....
Intense,so intense...once I started this I couldn't put it down.
So it's a year into Clover's relationship with four men.Tank,Pyro,Drake,and Boar and things are pretty much perfect.Clover is getting the necessary training to be part of the team and his relationship with each man is,getting much deeper.I honestly don't know how the Authors have done it but they've managed to make Clover have a connection to each man that is TOTALLY believable and turning out to be truly special.
BUT,
Clover makes a decision that will have so many consequences and my heart was in my mouth reading this as events unfolded.
I'm loving these men,this story,and cannot wait for the final part.

In my review for Their Bounty, Iasked hoped for some more relationship angst. Ask and you shall receive! I loved, loved, LOVED this.
Not a very long book but it had everything in it. Angst, humour (I still can’t get over Clover’s cum cocktail), sex, action…it’s all extremely well balanced. Add the consistent characterization and all those FEELS in the second half and there you have it.
When the story starts, Clover and his four men are in a great place. They ‘ve been in a poly relationship for about a year, they ‘re playful with each other, and there are such strong feelings involved. The dynamics of their relationship are too intriguing because they ‘re all so different but at the same time so far gone for Clover.
The ending is a big cliffhanger (at least IMO) and broke my heart into a thousand pieces. Trust is broken, the guys themselves are broken and the world around them is literally on fire. I admit that Pyro was my least favorite in the previous book, but he definitely stole the show here.
There is still no romantic relationship among all five men and I think that maybe this is not this kind of book after all. Clover is romantically and sexually involved with everyone and Boar and Pyro are a couple. The rest of them only share friendly feelings which doesn’t seem about to change anytime soon, and that’s ok by me.
Waiting until August for the final book will be hell, but there is a prequel coming out in July, Pyro and Boar’s story, and after reading this I’m positive that the authors know very well what they’re doing. Set Aflame is coming right on time.

Bloody Hell that was a headrush and it didn't go anywhere near where I was expecting it to. And it ends with a not quite cliffhanger but still a massive loose end!
It's impossible to go into the plot without spoiling it completely, all I will say is that is goes much darker than book one and things happen which will need a Herculean effort to put right.
There's a glorious opening which is insanely sexy and erotic before things definitely take a turn for the unexpected and the proverbial hits the fan at bullet train speed.
I have no clue how Kat and Agnes will pull this back from the brink but I cannot wait to find out how they do.

4,5 - E che devo dirvi?
Eccessivo, eccentrico, abbondante in tutto, dal sesso all'amore alle emozioni, ai brividi, sino alla discesa al lato oscuro.
E i nostri mercenari sono uomini complessi, gelosi ma anche fragili, impetuosi ma anche ragazzotti impulsivi. Però, come dice, Pyro, non lasciano mai indietro nessuno.
Se il primo capitolo mi aveva fatto tentennare su Clover, mentre già mi affezionavo ai super 4, qui tutti fanno un po' un salto di qualità.
Diciamo che Tank era già una certezza, severo ma protettivo, disciplinato, dedito al gruppo come un vero leader, qui è Drake che si fa conoscere di più.
In effetti la prima parte del libro inizia proprio con l'approfondimento della relazione Drake/Clover e prosegue con la scoperta del passato di Drake, il che ci aiuta a comprendere il colpo di testa, il delirio di azioni e reazioni, e le pazzesche conseguenze.
Come altri romanzi delle Merikan, questa non è una lettura proprio per tutti. O meglio, se siete già abituate al loro stile lo adorerete, altrimenti dovete predisporvi ad avere il cuore sul rollercoaster e a parecchie scene "forti".
Durante la seconda parte pure io sono rimasta sgomenta e aggrovigliata per la tensione della vicenda, per non dire che il finale mi ha fatto male, se non malissimo.
Ecco, sul finale ho notevolmente odiato le Merikan per la loro cattiveria pura, ma confido fortemente che il terzo volume ci darà modo di spostare l'attenzione anche su Bear e Pyro.
Proprio Bear resta al momento il mio personaggio preferito, se proprio devo scegliere, insieme a Tank.
Clover lo avrei fatto a coriandoli in più di un'occasione.

So this book is a complete continuation with a cliffhanger. I can’t say much without giving much away, but I will say this book is full of sex and so much sadness.
Our multi man relationship has some issues to deal with and it’s more than growing pains. The main relationships at play in this book are Tank and Clover and Drake and Clover. Pyro and Boar are sort of in the background.
This book is definitely not stand alone like the first. There is a definite cliffhanger which is requiring me to move to the next book ASAP!

Holy smokes this was an intense read. Hair trigger emotions, past trauma and fight / flight responses have put this team in a world of hurt. Tank is trying to keep it all together- I actually feel for him balancing love, care and boundaries... this next book will be a dark emotional one I’m sure 😬

AHHHHHH! MAMMA MIAAA! Penso sia ormai inutile dire che quando sono persa nel vuoto mi basta scagliarmi a capofitto su un volume di questo duo per trovare la luce. Dopo aver riletto il primo libro potevo fermarmi? MA OVVIAMENTE NOOOOO! Che dire? Sono innamorata! Sono innamorata della cura maniacale con cui è stata affrontata la psicologia dei protagonisti. Amo i libri che riescono a mostrarci un'evoluzione concreta dei personaggi, a dimostrare come siano realistici e vivi e non delle semplici macchiette. Sono tutti semplicemente perfetti. Li ho amati tutti. Ho adorato la tenerezza infinita di Clover, la sua trasformazione da piccolo bruco in stupenda farfalla pronta a spiccare il volo. Nel primo capitolo Clover mi aveva un po' destabilizzata, per metà libro lo avevo odiato per metà amato ma qui... è stato solo amore. Dopo tanto tempo è riuscito a trovare la sua casa, la sua stabilità, quelle persone in grado di stravolgere e muovere il suo mondo. Con i mercenari si sente al sicuro e farebbe di tutto per difenderli. Riesce a dare a ognuno di loro qualcosa di unico e speciale e riceve in cambio quel senso di sicurezza che non ha mai avuto. Lui vuole essere utile, rendere orgogliosi i suoi uomini e dimostrare di essere degno. Una scelta che ovviamente porta conseguenze spingendo un po' tutti a vedere un nuovo lato di lui. Ho amato il suo tentativo di aiutare i suoi amanti e in particolare Drake. Questo non è decisamente infatti il suo libro fortunato... purtroppo il passato di Drake è drammatico. Da bambino ha avuto una madre tossicodipendente e una famiglia altamente disfunzionale e nessuno lo ha aiutato. Apollo, un mostro senz'anima, ha approfittato della situazione per comprarlo e lo ha poco dopo venduto... a un demone, un essere mostruoso che lo ha violentato per anni prima di spingerlo a diventare un assassino. Dopo tanti anni pensa ancora al passato. Si vergogna della sua difficoltà nella lettura e scrittura per mancanza di istruzione negli anni di prigionia (per il suo padrone ovviamente era solo un corpo da sfruttare e secondo lui era inutile permettergli di imparare certe cose che lo avrebbero potuto far ribellare),si vergogna del suo corpo e in particolare del marchio che gli è stato inciso a fuoco sulla pelle, ha difficoltà ad accettare la sua sessualità vivendo costantemente in quell'incubo di abusi e violenze. Tank era stato l'unico a dargli una possibilità di redenzione. Quando lo ha attaccato pensando di ucciderlo il mercenario invece di ricambiare con la violenza o denunciarlo alle autorità ha deciso di prenderlo con sé. Tank è stato l'unico con cui si è aperto almeno.... fino all'arrivo di Clover. Clover dopo essere stato un nemico è diventato una parte della sua anima. Sente che il giovane con le sue esperienze passate può capirlo e mettersi nei suoi panni. Con Clover non ha paura di mostrarsi vulnerabile e fragile, di mollare la sua corazza di assassino senza cuore. Clover è la sua luce e quando scopre che quel mostro di Apollo lo voleva comprare da Jerry... diventa una furia. Lo vuole morto non solo per la sua vendetta ma anche per tenere al sicuro il suo amato sole. Una scelta che ovviamente è dettata dalla furia cieca, dal momento così intenso e drammatico e che con il tempo purtroppo porta a rompere tutte le certezze create con fatica. Ho adorato questa sua parte, questa sua fragilità e ingenuità. Si contrappone perfettamente con il Drake del primo libro, con quell'uomo stoico che aveva visto lungo, che aveva compreso i mezzucci di Clover non cadendo nella sua rete e nelle sue manipolazioni emotive. In questo libro è lui invece a essere cieco, a farsi guidare dai sentimenti, a fare tutto quello che ironicamente aveva rimproverato a Clover. La sua evoluzione è stupenda, la sua umanità è stupenda, il suo rapporto con Clover è stupendo. Continuo a credere che la storia d'amore tra Clover e Drake sia la più autentica e vera dell'intera serie perché nata senza secondi fini, dal tempo e dalla fatica. Insomma: la perfezione. Poi... ho amato un sacco Tank che per una volta fa cadere quel muro di perfezione per tornare sulla Terra come un comune mortale. Il mercenario nonostante sia un po' il capo è anche un essere umano come tutti gli altri, ha paure e difetti come tutti. Cerca di dare stabilità al suo gruppo ma con il suo modo di fare spesso rischia di soffocare i compagni. Il passato lo ha colpito duramente e cambiato. Dall'arrivo di Clover continua a pensare a Raul, un amico e compagno, un giovane molto simile al suo amante, un ragazzino spensierato e sicuro di sé come il suo innamorato e che per colpa dell'ingenuità è stato ucciso e torturato senza pietà. Tank ha promesso a se stesso di non commettere più errori e questo... lo porta a scontrarsi con la realtà, con la sua incapacità di controllare a tempo pieno ogni azione del suo fidanzato. Mi è piaciuto questo suo nuovo lato. Mi mancava. Avevo un po' odiato il fatto che fosse sempre quello santo, quello forte, quello intoccabile e invece così... wow! Ci sta tutto XD. Poi... beh... ho amato anche Pyro e Boar. Ho adorato iniziare a vedere un po' meglio il loro rapporto e amore e ho trovato adorabile il magico momento in cui Pyro si confida con l'amante, si dispera tra le sue braccia per la paura di non essere accettato, di essere visto da Clover solo come un amante con cui fare sesso, il ribelle senza paura e non come un essere umano in grado di sfogarsi e piangere tra le sue braccia. Mi è piaciuto un sacco vedere il loro affiatamento e questo... spiega perfettamente il dolore nel finale. Il perché Pyro si sia comportato come un pazzo stronzetto. Il finale è perfetto e apre le porte a un ultimo volume in cui tutto verrà svelato e dove finalmente si avrà il lieto fine tanto sognato. Insomma... ho amato ogni parola e ogni istante. Non ho cambiato le mie idee rispetto al passato. Sicuramente è la mia serie preferita del duo e spero di avere presto tra le mani il cartaceo del terzo libro (VI PREGO PUBBLICATE IL TERZO LIBRO CARTACEOOOOOOOO!!)

Lettura 2020:
Questo libro mi ha stregato! Se il primo era riuscito a intrigarmi ed emozionarmi questo... è stato sicuramente venti volte meglio! Una narrazione avvincente e stimolante dall'inizio alla fine e che convincerà anche i più scettici o quei pochi che magari erano rimasti un po' delusi da alcune scelte narrative. Sono ormai passati mesi dagli eventi del primo libro e tutto sembra andare per il meglio. Clover si è ormai adattato alla vita dei suoi compagni, passa tutto il tempo in loro compagnia, cucina con Boar, si scatena con Pyro, si allena e pratica Shibari con Drake e si fa viziare e coccolare dal suo paparino Tank. Dopo tanti anni di sofferenza e dolore sembra che la sua vita sia finalmente perfetta, tranquilla. Tutto sembra girare per il verso giusto, finalmente ha delle persone che lo amano e accettano per quello che è ma questo... non basta...non gli basta. Vuole fare di più, vuole integrarsi al meglio nella squadra sentendo il bisogno di entrare in azione, di essere indipendente ed utile ai suoi amanti per poterli accompagnare in missione anche sul campo di battaglia più duro. Nonostante ami essere il ragazzino del gruppo sa che prima o poi arriveranno dei nemici più potenti, sa che fuori da quelle mure protettive Jerry e gli uomini come lui stanno ancora tramando nell'ombra. Decide di così mettersi in gioco. Una scelta dettata dal suo orgoglio, dal suo desiderio di riscatto e che ahimè è destinata a rimescolare completamente le carte in tavola portando il gruppo ad affrontare nuovi demoni e vecchi fantasmi del passato. Se il primo volume della serie aveva cercato di mantenere un tono più erotico, più dolce in alcune parti e pieno di momenti più spensierati, inserendo eventi forti e di impatto solo al fine di mostrarci uno sviluppo nel rapporto tra Clover e i suoi amanti questo secondo capitolo è completamente opposto, dopo un clima iniziale rilassato e sensuale veniamo trascinati in un pozzo senza fondo, ci ritroviamo a scontrarci contro la durezza della vita e le conseguenze che certe azioni portano, l'atmosfera sognante e da la luna di miele con il suo clima dolce ed intimo viene messo da parte così come quella vena puramente erotica per regalarci un'atmosfera più matura, più dark, una narrazione che ci sorprende e che non esita a colpirci dove fa più male per mostrarci i personaggi sotto nuovi punti di vista. I protagonisti sono cambiati e in questo secondo capitolo iniziano a mostrarci le loro fragilità e paure. Se nel primo romanzo ci eravamo concentrati molto di più su Clover e sulla sua evoluzione in questo capitolo è il turno di Tank e Drake di mettersi a nudo e farsi conoscere nel profondo. Clover è ormai cresciuto, sta maturando e vuole entrare in azione, vuole farsi valere e questo per il protettivo Tank è un colpo al cuore. Proprio lui che era sempre stato il più supportivo nei confronti del compagno, quello che aveva voluto prenderlo nel gruppo a tutti i costi, che non aveva esitato a trascinarlo nel suo mondo, che lo vede come un essere innocente e puro... ora si ritrova ad affrontare le sue paure e i suoi demoni. Continua a vedere Clover non come l'uomo che sta diventando ma ancora come il ragazzino impertinente che ha trovato legato ed indifeso tanto tempo prima, il ragazzino incapace di affrontare il mondo da solo. Continua a paragonarlo con l'ex compagno e amico Raul morto anni prima in missione per colpa sua, per colpa della sua incapacità di difenderlo e proteggerlo. Ci ritroviamo di fronte un Tank più umano e talvolta irrazionale. Abbiamo modo di conoscere di più del suo passato (di conoscere finalmente il suo nome... Adam) e la sua famiglia, in particolare il fratello, così diverso da lui nei modi e negli atteggiamenti e la simpatica nonna Jolene. Una donna buffa e amorevole nei confronti del nipote, una forza della natura in grado di capire tutto con un solo sguardo. Abbiamo modo di confrontarci con un personaggio più umano e vivo e ci ritroviamo a empatizzare con lui capendo la difficoltà del suo ruolo da "leader". Una responsabilità soffocante e che non gli da tregua e che spesso lo fa sembrare insensibile e fin troppo stoico, costringendolo a nascondere certe fragilità che potrebbero rivoltarsigli contro. Insieme a Tank abbiamo anche la possibilità di scoprire un nuovo lato di Drake, il magnetico Drake, l'uomo che non aveva esitato a mettersi contro Clover, a demonizzarlo e guardarlo con sospetto ora... dipende completamente dal ragazzo, lo ama e ci mostra per la prima volta cosa si nasconde dietro quella maschera che per molto tempo è stato costretto ad indossare. Drake non è solo un assassino, un mercenario ma anche e soprattutto un uomo spezzato, un uomo che un tempo era solo un bambino innocente, abusato e annientato da uomini crudeli che lo hanno distrutto, marchiato come un animale. Drake nonostante i suoi mille difetti è in realtà buono, dolce e sensibile e per la prima volta abbiamo modo di vedere quell'amore che tiene dentro di sé, quell'attenzione e bisogno di aprirsi al mondo anche se con timore. Il rapporto tra lui e Clover in assoluto è quello che mi ha colpito di più di tutto il libro, già avevo previsto scintille vista la loro costante attrazione ma ora... ci ritroviamo in un nuovo livello di amore e comprensione, un rapporto difficile ma intenso ed emozionante. Vedere la difficoltà del mercenario di aprirsi, il suo timore quasi di farsi toccare, di creare un rapporto più profondo, il suo bisogno di combattere contro i suoi demoni... mi ha emozionato e commossa. Mi sono innamorata dello sviluppo dei personaggi e del modo in cui ci appaiono, sempre più vivi, sempre più dinamici, umani nei loro errori e difetti. Un romanzo che colpisce nel profondo, scritto molto bene e scorrevole come l'acqua, che riesce a passare con abilità da momenti più dolci e spensierati ad altri mozzafiato e...crudeli. In questo secondo volume non manca infatti la crudeltà e l'oscurità, per chi aveva sentito la mancanza della componente più "malata e perversa" in questo capitolo si ritroverà accontentato. Ci troviamo di fronte un nuovo e crudele nemico intenzionato a vendicarsi e distruggere Clover e i suoi amanti, una new entry che ahimè fa parte del passato di Drake. Uno dei mostri che per primo lo ha iniziato a quel mondo crudele e perverso e che rimescola completamente le carte in tavola accompagnandoci piano piano verso il terzo e ultimo capitolo della serie, portandoci nuove domande, portandoci a temere e sognare per quel futuro incerto che aspetta questi incasinati amanti. Ossessivi è un libro perfetto sotto tutti i punti di vista, un capolavoro a cui è difficile se non impossibile trovare un difetto. Tutto è curato ad arte, la narrazione risulta sempre fluida e intrigante coinvolgendo dall'inizio alla fine, i personaggi sono caratterizzati ancora meglio rispetto allo scorso capitolo, l'atmosfera è curata in modo maniacale per non far pesare il passaggio da momenti più tranquilli ad altri più frenetici. Tutto in questo libro è curato ad arte e non posso che inchinarmi dinnanzi a tanta perfezione. Ho amato tutto dall'inizio alla fine e anche se mi è dispiaciuto vedere poco Boar e Pyro, sentendoli un po' più messi da parte, non ho potuto non apprezzare il lavoro immenso che è stato fatto per mostrarci al meglio Tank, Drake e la crescita di Clover. Ho divorato il libro in pochissimo tempo e ora mi sento vuota e triste al pensiero di dover aspettare chissà quanto tempo per il seguito e questo perché ahimè questo capitolo seppur incredibile finisce con... un crudelissimo cliffhanger! Un colpo al cuore, un tradimento che costringerà tutti noi, poveri fan, ad aspettare per scoprire cosa succederà ai nostri beniamini.. Che altro dire. Lo consiglio? Si, si e assolutamente... SI! Se amate i romanzi di questo genere non potete lasciarvelo scappare e se avete avuto dei dubbi dopo la lettura del primo libro... buttatevi senza timore! Ovviamente è una lettura molto delicata, qui come non mai non mancano trigger importanti e che potrebbero disturbare i lettori più sensibili, se non sopportate l'idea di sangue, stupri, violenze, abusi su minori e scene esplicite di torture vi consiglio di passare oltre in caso contrario... concedetegli una possibilità. Non ne rimarrete delusi!
AHHHHHH! MAMMA MIAAA! Penso sia ormai inutile dire che quando sono persa nel vuoto mi basta scagliarmi a capofitto su un volume di questo duo per trovare la luce. Dopo aver riletto il primo libro potevo fermarmi? MA OVVIAMENTE NOOOOO! Che dire? Sono innamorata! Sono innamorata della cura maniacale con cui è stata affrontata la psicologia dei protagonisti. Amo i libri che riescono a mostrarci un'evoluzione concreta dei personaggi, a dimostrare come siano realistici e vivi e non delle semplici macchiette. Sono tutti semplicemente perfetti. Li ho amati tutti. Ho adorato la tenerezza infinita di Clover, la sua trasformazione da piccolo bruco in stupenda farfalla pronta a spiccare il volo. Nel primo capitolo Clover mi aveva un po' destabilizzata, per metà libro lo avevo odiato per metà amato ma qui... è stato solo amore. Dopo tanto tempo è riuscito a trovare la sua casa, la sua stabilità, quelle persone in grado di stravolgere e muovere il suo mondo. Con i mercenari si sente al sicuro e farebbe di tutto per difenderli. Riesce a dare a ognuno di loro qualcosa di unico e speciale e riceve in cambio quel senso di sicurezza che non ha mai avuto. Lui vuole essere utile, rendere orgogliosi i suoi uomini e dimostrare di essere degno. Una scelta che ovviamente porta conseguenze spingendo un po' tutti a vedere un nuovo lato di lui. Ho amato il suo tentativo di aiutare i suoi amanti e in particolare Drake. Questo non è decisamente infatti il suo libro fortunato... purtroppo il passato di Drake è drammatico. Da bambino ha avuto una madre tossicodipendente e una famiglia altamente disfunzionale e nessuno lo ha aiutato. Apollo, un mostro senz'anima, ha approfittato della situazione per comprarlo e lo ha poco dopo venduto... a un demone, un essere mostruoso che lo ha violentato per anni prima di spingerlo a diventare un assassino. Dopo tanti anni pensa ancora al passato. Si vergogna della sua difficoltà nella lettura e scrittura per mancanza di istruzione negli anni di prigionia (per il suo padrone ovviamente era solo un corpo da sfruttare e secondo lui era inutile permettergli di imparare certe cose che lo avrebbero potuto far ribellare),si vergogna del suo corpo e in particolare del marchio che gli è stato inciso a fuoco sulla pelle, ha difficoltà ad accettare la sua sessualità vivendo costantemente in quell'incubo di abusi e violenze. Tank era stato l'unico a dargli una possibilità di redenzione. Quando lo ha attaccato pensando di ucciderlo il mercenario invece di ricambiare con la violenza o denunciarlo alle autorità ha deciso di prenderlo con sé. Tank è stato l'unico con cui si è aperto almeno.... fino all'arrivo di Clover. Clover dopo essere stato un nemico è diventato una parte della sua anima. Sente che il giovane con le sue esperienze passate può capirlo e mettersi nei suoi panni. Con Clover non ha paura di mostrarsi vulnerabile e fragile, di mollare la sua corazza di assassino senza cuore. Clover è la sua luce e quando scopre che quel mostro di Apollo lo voleva comprare da Jerry... diventa una furia. Lo vuole morto non solo per la sua vendetta ma anche per tenere al sicuro il suo amato sole. Una scelta che ovviamente è dettata dalla furia cieca, dal momento così intenso e drammatico e che con il tempo purtroppo porta a rompere tutte le certezze create con fatica. Ho adorato questa sua parte, questa sua fragilità e ingenuità. Si contrappone perfettamente con il Drake del primo libro, con quell'uomo stoico che aveva visto lungo, che aveva compreso i mezzucci di Clover non cadendo nella sua rete e nelle sue manipolazioni emotive. In questo libro è lui invece a essere cieco, a farsi guidare dai sentimenti, a fare tutto quello che ironicamente aveva rimproverato a Clover. La sua evoluzione è stupenda, la sua umanità è stupenda, il suo rapporto con Clover è stupendo. Continuo a credere che la storia d'amore tra Clover e Drake sia la più autentica e vera dell'intera serie perché nata senza secondi fini, dal tempo e dalla fatica. Insomma: la perfezione. Poi... ho amato un sacco Tank che per una volta fa cadere quel muro di perfezione per tornare sulla Terra come un comune mortale. Il mercenario nonostante sia un po' il capo è anche un essere umano come tutti gli altri, ha paure e difetti come tutti. Cerca di dare stabilità al suo gruppo ma con il suo modo di fare spesso rischia di soffocare i compagni. Il passato lo ha colpito duramente e cambiato. Dall'arrivo di Clover continua a pensare a Raul, un amico e compagno, un giovane molto simile al suo amante, un ragazzino spensierato e sicuro di sé come il suo innamorato e che per colpa dell'ingenuità è stato ucciso e torturato senza pietà. Tank ha promesso a se stesso di non commettere più errori e questo... lo porta a scontrarsi con la realtà, con la sua incapacità di controllare a tempo pieno ogni azione del suo fidanzato. Mi è piaciuto questo suo nuovo lato. Mi mancava. Avevo un po' odiato il fatto che fosse sempre quello santo, quello forte, quello intoccabile e invece così... wow! Ci sta tutto XD. Poi... beh... ho amato anche Pyro e Boar. Ho adorato iniziare a vedere un po' meglio il loro rapporto e amore e ho trovato adorabile il magico momento in cui Pyro si confida con l'amante, si dispera tra le sue braccia per la paura di non essere accettato, di essere visto da Clover solo come un amante con cui fare sesso, il ribelle senza paura e non come un essere umano in grado di sfogarsi e piangere tra le sue braccia. Mi è piaciuto un sacco vedere il loro affiatamento e questo... spiega perfettamente il dolore nel finale. Il perché Pyro si sia comportato come un pazzo stronzetto. Il finale è perfetto e apre le porte a un ultimo volume in cui tutto verrà svelato e dove finalmente si avrà il lieto fine tanto sognato. Insomma... ho amato ogni parola e ogni istante. Non ho cambiato le mie idee rispetto al passato. Sicuramente è la mia serie preferita del duo e spero di avere presto tra le mani il cartaceo del terzo libro (VI PREGO PUBBLICATE IL TERZO LIBRO CARTACEOOOOOOOO!!)

Questo libro mi ha stregato! Se il primo era riuscito a intrigarmi ed emozionarmi questo... è stato sicuramente venti volte meglio! Una narrazione avvincente e stimolante dall'inizio alla fine e che convincerà anche i più scettici o quei pochi che magari erano rimasti un po' delusi da alcune scelte narrative. Sono ormai passati mesi dagli eventi del primo libro e tutto sembra andare per il meglio. Clover si è ormai adattato alla vita dei suoi compagni, passa tutto il tempo in loro compagnia, cucina con Boar, si scatena con Pyro, si allena e pratica Shibari con Drake e si fa viziare e coccolare dal suo paparino Tank. Dopo tanti anni di sofferenza e dolore sembra che la sua vita sia finalmente perfetta, tranquilla. Tutto sembra girare per il verso giusto, finalmente ha delle persone che lo amano e accettano per quello che è ma questo... non basta...non gli basta. Vuole fare di più, vuole integrarsi al meglio nella squadra sentendo il bisogno di entrare in azione, di essere indipendente ed utile ai suoi amanti per poterli accompagnare in missione anche sul campo di battaglia più duro. Nonostante ami essere il ragazzino del gruppo sa che prima o poi arriveranno dei nemici più potenti, sa che fuori da quelle mure protettive Jerry e gli uomini come lui stanno ancora tramando nell'ombra. Decide di così mettersi in gioco. Una scelta dettata dal suo orgoglio, dal suo desiderio di riscatto e che ahimè è destinata a rimescolare completamente le carte in tavola portando il gruppo ad affrontare nuovi demoni e vecchi fantasmi del passato. Se il primo volume della serie aveva cercato di mantenere un tono più erotico, più dolce in alcune parti e pieno di momenti più spensierati, inserendo eventi forti e di impatto solo al fine di mostrarci uno sviluppo nel rapporto tra Clover e i suoi amanti questo secondo capitolo è completamente opposto, dopo un clima iniziale rilassato e sensuale veniamo trascinati in un pozzo senza fondo, ci ritroviamo a scontrarci contro la durezza della vita e le conseguenze che certe azioni portano, l'atmosfera sognante e da la luna di miele con il suo clima dolce ed intimo viene messo da parte così come quella vena puramente erotica per regalarci un'atmosfera più matura, più dark, una narrazione che ci sorprende e che non esita a colpirci dove fa più male per mostrarci i personaggi sotto nuovi punti di vista. I protagonisti sono cambiati e in questo secondo capitolo iniziano a mostrarci le loro fragilità e paure. Se nel primo romanzo ci eravamo concentrati molto di più su Clover e sulla sua evoluzione in questo capitolo è il turno di Tank e Drake di mettersi a nudo e farsi conoscere nel profondo. Clover è ormai cresciuto, sta maturando e vuole entrare in azione, vuole farsi valere e questo per il protettivo Tank è un colpo al cuore. Proprio lui che era sempre stato il più supportivo nei confronti del compagno, quello che aveva voluto prenderlo nel gruppo a tutti i costi, che non aveva esitato a trascinarlo nel suo mondo, che lo vede come un essere innocente e puro... ora si ritrova ad affrontare le sue paure e i suoi demoni. Continua a vedere Clover non come l'uomo che sta diventando ma ancora come il ragazzino impertinente che ha trovato legato ed indifeso tanto tempo prima, il ragazzino incapace di affrontare il mondo da solo. Continua a paragonarlo con l'ex compagno e amico Raul morto anni prima in missione per colpa sua, per colpa della sua incapacità di difenderlo e proteggerlo. Ci ritroviamo di fronte un Tank più umano e talvolta irrazionale. Abbiamo modo di conoscere di più del suo passato (di conoscere finalmente il suo nome... Adam) e la sua famiglia, in particolare il fratello, così diverso da lui nei modi e negli atteggiamenti e la simpatica nonna Jolene. Una donna buffa e amorevole nei confronti del nipote, una forza della natura in grado di capire tutto con un solo sguardo. Abbiamo modo di confrontarci con un personaggio più umano e vivo e ci ritroviamo a empatizzare con lui capendo la difficoltà del suo ruolo da "leader". Una responsabilità soffocante e che non gli da tregua e che spesso lo fa sembrare insensibile e fin troppo stoico, costringendolo a nascondere certe fragilità che potrebbero rivoltarsigli contro. La vida que tenia Clover hacia un ano no se parece en nada a lo que tiene ahora junto con sus 4 novios mercenarios, pero ahora solo quiere que ellos lo vean como uno mas, no solo para protegerlo sino como un igual, asi que entrena durisimo todos los dias para ser mas rapido, mas fuerte y mas capaz que antes y ser realmente parte del grupo. Pero cuando Tank dice que deberian hacer un trabajo porque se han estado comiendo sus ahorros, Clover piensa que es su oportunidad de demostrarles que es su igual, y cuando todo sale mal y su contacto se descubre en contacto con su antiguo "Jefe" Jerry, Clover piensa que es capaz de ir y matarlo. El problema resulta que Jerry queria venderlo al que fue el "comprador" de Drake y este se descontrola de tal forma que los lleva a lo peor que puede pasarlos.
Ahora maltratados, golpeados y con Boar perdido, el grupo esta dividido, cansado, pero deben volver a unirse para encontrar a Boar y eliminar de una vez por todas uno de los grupos de trafico de personas mas grande de Estados Unidos.
Este libro es muchisimo mas emocional, ahora si comenzamos a conocer a Pyro y a Boar, aprendemos muchos mas secretos de Tank y Drake, pero vemos como la relacion entre los 4 no es tan solida como la dibujaron en el libro anterior.
Muchas escenas eroticas bastante bien balanceadas, algunos escenas divertidas, pero mas drama que otra cosa, totalmente diferente a lo que esperaba. Lo fastidioso es que lo dejan en "Continuara", o sea que te obligan a leer el ultimo libro para saber como van a resolver todo, yo esperaba que terminara bien, pero bueno, despues me enterare.
Tambien vi que hay una historia corta con la historia de Boar y Pyro antes de conocer a Tank, algo que de verdad hace mucha falta, pero me gustaria tambien algo pequeno de la historia entre Tank y Drake, o de ellos 4 como grupo antes de encontrar a Clover, ya veremos como lo maneja el autor.
Ahora maltratados, golpeados y con Boar perdido, el grupo esta dividido, cansado, pero deben volver a unirse para encontrar a Boar y eliminar de una vez por todas uno de los grupos de trafico de personas mas grande de Estados Unidos.

This book had lots of the magic of the first book. However, I didn’t like the huge time jump. I feel like we readers lost so much of the relationship development between clover and his men. We lost the first year of his life with them and it put me at a loss with his lovers. Drake and him have grown so much closer and I would have loved to seen more of it instead of just hearing about it. However, this book was still super steamy and had lots of heart with Clover and his unique men. This book had quite a big cliffhanger and I’m dying for the third!Clover and his men have had it rough and I want them all to grow together in their relationship.

This book is darker than the first one, more somber with a tense atmosphere during my entire read. I was completely hooked in the story, I was captivated and scared. We learned more about their past, their dynamics in their relationship all together. I was completely enthralled in the book, feeling their fears and love. I cried for them with big fat tears.
I need to warn you: Reading this book can give you high blood pressure, temporal disorientation until the end of book...then you will realize hours of your day has gone without you noticing, this book can make you have strong emotions. This book and this series are highly addictive.

I love how dark this book got and would enjoy seeing more of that, and the special attention that some characters got in this one. I look forward to hopefully getting to know them all more in book 3. I really love Clover and the story, and all the characters in their own way, but I don't think that harem books are for me. This is my first harem series and I just don't feel equally attached the the different pairings. I would be fine if this were just Clover and Drake. When Clover has special time with one of the others I enjoy it but as soon as they are out of the scene I forget about them again. I enjoy the scenes when they are all together the most.

Oggi vorrei parlarvi di “Ossessivi” del duo K.A. Merikan, secondo capitolo della serie Mercenari, edita da Quixote translations.
L’amore di Clover è fortissimo e adora i suoi quattro uomini, le cui attenzioni sono un sogno che si avvera.
La vita nella sua nuova famiglia funziona magnificamente e ognuno di loro completa l’altro in un puzzle perfetto.
Ma per entrare davvero nella vita dei mercenari Clover sente il bisogno di scendere in campo con loro.
Tuttavia la quiete preannuncia sempre una tempesta. Tutti insieme si ritroveranno al centro di caos e violenza e il passato tornerà a farsi sentire. Il loro legame resisterà?
Guys, che ve lo dico a fare? Anche stavolta le Merikan hanno creato una storia particolare, travolgente e super hot.
Avevamo lasciato la nostra famiglia di mercenari alle prese con un nuovo equilibrio e con l’aggiunta di Clover, che come un collante li ha uniti ancora di più.
Li ritroviamo qualche mese dopo, che hanno già consolidato il loro legame, sia a coppie che come gruppo.
Il libro si apre con una scena di shibari davvero ben scritta e molto hot.
Una cosa che ormai noto subito è che le scene di sesso delle Merikan sono sempre sensuali e profonde, anche quando ciò che viene descritto è un forte bondage o una scena di estrema sottomissione e “violenza".
Il ritmo del libro è incalzante, le scene si susseguono in un continuo senza interruzione.
L’intreccio tra suspense, momenti di azione e intimità, sono in un equilibrio che le Merikan gestiscono benissimo, oserei dire che ne sono maestre.
Ciò che questo libro mi ha fatto provare fin da subito è stato un senso di ansia, di attesa, sapevo che qualcosa non avrebbe funzionato, che il circuito si sarebbe rotto, insomma ero in ansia.
Probabilmente penserete sia perché avendo letto la sinossi avevo intuito che qualcosa andasse storto, ma non è così, perché non leggo mai le trame dei seguiti di una serie ma vado a scatola chiusa.
In realtà è stata proprio una sensazione che per me ha pervaso tutta le pagine del libro e che purtroppo sfocia in un finale davvero duro da digerire e che ci lascia in scalpitante attesa del prossimo volume.
Come sempre il rapporto tra Clover e i suoi amanti è molto sfaccettato: Drake gli insegna la sottomissione, lo shibari, ma anche il controllo del suo corpo fuori dal letto; Boar lo riempie di affetto e lo sostiene sempre; Tank è protettivo e se ne prende cura in maniera severa; Pyro lo aiuta a non pensare e a far crescere la parte del suo carattere più pazza e avventurosa.
In questo secondo capitolo abbiamo più focus anche sui sentimenti e i tormenti che affliggono l’anima dei vari mercenari, ad uno ad uno scopriamo qualcosa in più sul loro passato, su ciò che hanno dovuto superare e li ha resi ciò che sono.
Ed è proprio il passato a ripresentarsi più feroce e crudele che mai, inaspettato e devastante distrugge tutto ciò che incontra, persino il rapporto che i cinque avevano costruito.
Il libro finisce con un cliffhanger che mi fa tremare in attesa del seguito ma mi lascia la speranza che l’amore possa ancora una volta essere la cura e il collante per questi uomini spezzati.
Non so sinceramente cosa altro aggiungere perché voglio evitare qualsiasi spoiler, ma allo stesso tempo è talmente ricco che non riuscirei mai a raccontare tutto senza tralasciare qualcosa.
Dico solo che spero che la CE pubblichi presto il seguito.

Tante sono le ossessioni in questo episodio della trilogia.
Thank è terrorizzato che possa accadere qualcosa a Clover e, per questo, cerca in tutti i modi di escluderlo dalla nuova missione.
Clover desidera con tutto se stesso dimostrare ai suoi uomini e in primis al suo “paparino” che è un uomo anche lui e non solo un cucciolotto da viziare e proteggere, e i duri allenamenti a cui si è sottoposto nell’anno in loro compagnia non erano solo un passatempo, soprattutto non vuole continuare a vivere in una bolla di vetro; quando poi scopre che è ancora nel mirino del suo ex capo Jerry, alla sua volontà di riscatto va a sommarsi anche il desiderio di vendetta.
Drake si identifica molto in Clover, vuole aiutarlo a dimostrare le sue capacità, tenendolo comunque al sicuro, ma quando sulle loro strade incappano in Apollo, un fantasma del suo passato, un solo pensiero pressante rimane nel suo cuore: vendetta!
Il passato di Pyro lo conosce solo Boar ma, proprio in virtù di esso, è convinto che il rapporto che Clover ha con lui sia solo passionale e di non avere un reale posto nel cuore del ragazzo; malgrado Boar cerchi di convincerlo a confidarsi con il loro amato, rifiuta di farlo autoconvincendosi della situazione e i demoni del suo passato rischiano di mandare (letteralmente) tutto a fuoco.
Boar è il più sereno del gruppo, ma quando si imbatte in Clover e Drake che alla chetichella partono per una missione a suo avviso suicida, si trova combattuto tra il seguirli per proteggerli e non deludere la fiducia che Clover ripone in lui, o l’andare ad allertare Pyro e Tank: in entrambi i casi rischia di tradire uno dei suoi uomini e parte della sua famiglia, sì perché per quanto particolare quella dei cinque uomini è a tutti gli effetti una famiglia.
Ritroviamo anche qui molte scene di sesso, dalle più forti, a quelle più tenere, intrise di tantissimo phatos e sentimento, come quando Drake finalmente decide di affrontare i suoi demoni e concedersi anima e corpo a Clover o, quando Tank apre il suo cuore al ragazzo.
Purtroppo però non è tutto rose e fiori e questo libro, sebbene autoconclusivo, non ha il classico lieto fine, anzi le cose vanno sempre più complicandosi e per vederne la risoluzione bisognerà aspettare la terza parte della serie.
Se Generosi era stata una piacevole scoperta, qui i vari personaggi prendono maggiore spessore, e rimaniamo col fiato sospeso, in attesa di vedere come tutto riuscirà a sistemarsi in futuro.
Personalmente trovo Four mercenaries una serie a suo modo innovativa, dove violenza sentimenti ed eros si fondono in un mix perfetto, in questo capitolo poi troviamo un approfondimento della psicologia dei vari uomini assai interessante.

First off—read Their Bounty before you start Their Obsession. There’s no way you can appreciate this story without knowing how everything started, and how the bond between these five men formed. Then, be prepared for something darker and more emotionally disturbing than the first book.
Clover’s relationship with each of the mercenaries has deepened, and they’ve become a tight family since book one. His link with each of them is unique, and here in book two we are treated to mostly to the further exploration of Clover and Drake’s intense connection…and what exactly they are both willing to do for each other. The passionate bond between them is more than evident after a particularly emotional scene about halfway through the story.
Drake is pretty intense on his own, and his unfathomable past is brought squarely to the forefront here. Revenge is the central theme that sweeps through and takes over, also taking Clover along with it. Though Clover was no innocent when this series began, any hint of it is wiped away this time around—and the consequences of that make the conflict that erupts in this story even more significant, with repercussions that drive through the heart of their group.
There are scenes in this book that are disturbing and will open some readers’ eyes to the evil that exists in our world. There are also scenes and moments that directly contrast that depravity (like the one I mentioned between Clover and Drake). Everything about this story will have your heart in its clutches, and at the end? Part of your heart is going to be missing while we all wait for the third installment of the trilogy to resolve the cliffhanger from which K.A. Merikan has us suspended.

In the second book, Clover has become an indispensable part of the mercernary group. He is Tank's boy, Boar's romantic boyfriend, Pyro's partner in sexy times, and more importantly, Drake's lover. Not only does Clover get to be worshipped and pampered by his four lovers, he is also working hard to be a true partner to the crew. The story is full of Clover's sexy escapades, but there's more character development than in the first book, as we get to know more about the mercenaries' pasts, and why Clover fulfills them in their individual way, although I still don't necessarily believe that Pyro is truly in love with Clover, but is simply enchanted by his albinism, and happy that Clover makes Boar happy. There's also a lot of action, like watching an old fashion thriller where the good guys kill the bad guys with no compunctions. It finishes off with a whopper of a cliffhanger, and I'm looking forward to the conclusion

Wow I can honestly say that Their Obsession has truly shaken and destroyed me to the point where I was contemplating stopping reading it towards the end as it was very hard to continue, but K A’s fantastic captivating writing spurred me on.
The action in this instalment of the book series was non stop from the start and there was not one moment that was boring I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
I can honestly say I’m extremely glad I’m only reading this series now as I don’t think I’d be able to cope with having to wait for the next book.

I didn't see this coming, but I should have expected it from K& A because they are genius and their stories are never missing of twist and gore. And if this is not enough, everything that will happening have a sense, which is that everyone make error . The next istallament can't came ever too soon for me to read.

I liked this one better than the first one. It seems more cohesive. Twists and turns that I did see coming and others that I didn't.

Seriously! Clover has come into his own and it is a pleasure seeing him flourish and making it work , in their special way , with Tank, Pyro, Boar and Drake. It was entertaining reading this book.
I enjoyed the drama, adventure , the heat and the low angst of the story. And of course, I really loved the HOT heroes and their sexy times.
This book is not a standalone, you need to read book 1.

There are some major triggers in these books, if you haven’t read them. Kidnapping, torture, rape, references to all from the past, etc. It’s some bad stuff.
When I read the first book, I wasn’t quite sure if I wanted to read the second one to be honest. It was all in how Clover was treated for the most part. Not that I have anything against BDSM, quite the opposite in fact. It was just the feeling it gave me. I wasn’t comfortable at how he was being dealt with. But as I started reading this one, each person is so different and they love so different. It’s a good story, but it’s not a pretty one. In fact, it’s extremely rough. The life of a mercenary isn’t easy as it is, but when you come from the pasts that these guys have been through, especially Clover and Drake, you’re bound to have some bad stuff come up.
The problem is everyone is so protective of Clover, in his opinion. Well, Tank more than anyone. It’s time to do a job, and he wants Clover to stay home. He doesn’t think he’s ready. When they do the job, everything goes completely wrong and they find out, someone is still on the hunt for Clover. When it leads back to the one who sold him, he wants revenge. But Tank still doesn’t think he’s ready. Clover does what is necessary and gets through it. But in the interrogation, some names come up that haunt Drake and he’s determined to end it once and for all. But not only does Drake get caught, he gets Clover and Boar caught as well. Clover goes through hell and Boar disappears. Not to mention the hell they put Drake through. And now, it’s a race against time to find Boar before he’s gone forever, and before anyone loses it anymore than they already have.
This book gets more in detail about the pasts that these guys have. And it’s not pretty. My heart breaks for Drake as we finally find out why he acts the way he does. You get a clue in book 1, but in this one, you really find out everything. You find out more about Clover’s past too, and they are very similar. They try to rely on each other and it bonds them more, but the pressure sometimes gets too much and it overflows and the results are not a good one. Everyone is at a breaking point in this one. It’s a hard story to read. And I honestly don’t know who I fell worse for. Each has their own hangups and things that can break them. Their own insecurities and doubts and fears that weigh on them daily. Even though they try to hide them. So it’s an overload in this one. It’s a good story, but be forewarned. Please listen to the warnings.
I definitely have to read book 3 now. I hate that this one ended in a cliffhanger. That drives me so crazy. But with the way it left off, I have to know what happens. I’m hoping that they can move past everything, but I have a feeling book 3 is going to do some even worse damage. It’s going to be a doozy.

Mentre parlano con il tipo che dovevano incontrare, quest’ultimo fa una foto a Clover con il cellulare: quando i ragazzi se ne accorgono e chiedono spiegazioni; le risposte che dà sono assurde ed evasive e messo sotto pressione tenta di scappare. Il fato vuole che nell’allontanarsi abbia un incontro molto ravvicinato con un tir; i ragazzi riescono a recuperare il cellulare e trovano il numero a cui è stata inviata la foto e – sorpresa sorpresa – il numero appartiene a Jerry (ricordate?). I ragazzi decidono quindi di andare a “trovarlo” per parlare e scoprire chi è che vuole Clover di nuovo.
Parlando con Jerry scoprono che la persona interessata a Clover è Apollo, un vecchio nemico di Drake ancora in affari, purtroppo. Drake va fuori di testa e decide di voler uccidere Apollo una volta per tutte, Clover vuole aiutarlo ma gli altri del gruppo suggeriscono di aspettare di avere più informazioni per mettere giù un piano migliore. Si sa, la rabbia è una brutta consigliera ed è così che Drake e Clover decidono, di testa loro, di farlo da soli e mentre escono di soppiatto vengono beccati da Boar. Lo convincono a seguirli e…
A ogni pagina letta si conosce sempre meglio il passato di Drake: scopriamo che è stato un bambino venduto e abusato, vediamo che il suo essere chiuso e sempre imbronciato è una maschera per difendersi dalla sua paura di essere rifiutato ma soprattutto non vuol far sapere agli altri cosa è stato obbligato a fare da bambino (quando lo leggerete farete una lista infinita di modi barbari per uccidere Apollo & C).
In Ossessivi si delineano meglio le linee delle coppie presenti, perché, nonostante stiano tutti insieme, ci sono alcune particolarità…

In questo secondo romanzo c’è molta più azione e si intravedono le dinamiche del gruppo, oltre a una serie di nuovi mostri.

K. A. Merikan warned us that this book would be darker than the first one but sweet Jesus, this went further than I thought it would, maybe even further than any of the other books they wrote.
So let me start off by saying that I liked the balance between story and sex in this book a lot more. Clover still is in a polyamorous relationship but they spend more time actually talking than just going at it. There are still plenty of sex scenes, so you can relax.
By the time this book starts, the men have been in a relationship for a year so it allowed the characters to be a lot more comfortable with each other which I really enjoyed and doesn’t make the story feels as rushed.
I also love that we got more povs for the mercs other than Tank even if he is still the most predominant one and he is still a pain. Merikan for sure love Drake most of them all though because he always has a very special presence in the books. I just wished we could have seen more of Boar, our resident teddy bear but on the other hand, it was very fun to watch Pyro unravel into madness.
The only thing I enjoyed a bit less was the way Tank treated Clover. While the others have a very comfortable relationship with Clover where no one does anything the other doesn’t want to, Tank likes to hold power over him in a different way and it feels like Clover does not always know where he stands with him, with Tank making all the rules and controlling a lot of aspects in his life.
Also, points for how the first chapter was a direct contradiction of the darkest chapters in the book, adding a layer of foreshadowing that I only picked up later.
I’m seriously dying to read the next book and crying over the fact that is the last in the trilogy.

✔ Letto! Intenso, terribilmente intenso.
Nuove rivelazioni sul triste passato di Drake il protagonista indiscusso di oggi, dove un bambino di appena sei anni verrà venduto dalla propria madre a dei pedofili. Trasformandolo poi nel Drake che conosciamo. In questo episodio la sua maschera scivolerà via un pochino... portando all'aperto un po' del suo animo affettuoso, fragile e tormentato, quando il suo passato tornerà a farsi vivo. Incredibile è scoprire che le persone che vogliono Clover sia tutto parte dello stesso intreccio. Dove i mostri hanno la stessa faccia. Che tutto sia connesso.
Nuovi personaggi divertenti come la nonna Jolene e finalmente un nome per ogni faccia... Adam, Matt, Jamie e Drake... dietro ogni nome un piccolo pezzo di invincibilità crollerà via... e le cose finiranno con uno scomparso da salvare e una casa in fiamma.
Un romanzo così bello che l'ho sognato per tutta la notte... e nel mio sogno Clover, Tank, Drake, Boar e Pyro oltre che bellissimi, al mio segnale hanno scatenato l'inferno!

Their Obsession is the second book in the Four Mercenaries series and you really need to read Their Bounty first in order to understand the relationship between the five men and how they feel for each other. It's amazing to see how strongly and deeply Boar,Pyro,Drake and Tank care for Clover,how much of a glue he's become for their group.
The four mercenaries all cherish Clover and want to protect him and that's why they have different opinions when the younger man wants to join them on a mission. And it's exactly this mission that marks the beginning of their troubles and ruin. Not only someone is still looking for Clover but,because the men don't talk to each other, doubts,insecurities and hurt feelings lead to rash decisions. The tight knit group is separated and the result is disaster.
Of course, you can't have a K.A. Merikan book without scorching hot sex and exciting action scenes. But to me ,Their Obsession was a heart wrenching experience. I've felt as my own every strong emotion the characters have lived through:love,hate,rage,sadness or despair. By the time I reached The End I was a breathless,scared and crying mess.
Can't wait for the next book and I'll be on pins and needles until it's published. I really need to know what happens next!

So I loved the first book in this series, but this might be even better!
There is some lovely character progression, you see more of clover's relationship with Drake (it previously focused more on Tank and the group as a whole), starting with them returning from a lovely week away learning all sorts of sexy new things that they have to show off to the other boys.
But things get dark when they take on a new job and discover that it's to do with Jerry, the man who sold Clover to a collector, before he escaped and wound up with the mercenaries.
The story gets very serious from here on, and very dark.
There are some touchy subjects in this book, but as always Merikan handle them with care, never glorifying any of the evil acts that occur. If you've read any of their books before, you'll be prepared for how dark they can get, if you haven't, well you've been warned.
I wouldn't start with this book as a lot of the story progression does require you to have read the first book (their bounty), so I really recommend you start there. You won't regret it!
The cliffhanger at the end will leave me clamouring for the next book, and I think you will probably find the same.

HOLY F#@k!!!! K.A. Merikan has done it once again!!!!! I am in absolute LOVE with Clover and his men! The angst and misunderstandings that happen between them almost quite literally tugged on my heartstrings 💓💓 LOVE LOVE LOVE that Tank and Drake have the small touches and I hope there might be more between them 🤞🏻🙏🏻😂
