European History: A Captivating Guide to the History of Europe, Starting from the Neanderthals Through to the Roman Empire and the End of the Cold War
Explore the Captivating History of Europe Free History BONUS Inside! The history of people in Europe is a fascinating one that starts, as most do, with hunters, gatherers, and fishermen that eventually explode into a kaleidoscope of niche cultures—each with its own gods, goddesses, food staples, and building techniques. Initially quite isolated from one another, the people of Europe evolved intricate social systems and relationships with one another that eventually bonded them through trade and marriage. They built farms, villages, cities, and entire empires to protect their cultures and convert others to their ways of thinking, only to have it all crumble under the strength of the next warlord. Europe’s past is characterized by fighting and warfare, and it is punctuated with great works of art, philosophy, science, and technology. Even its recent history is much the same—that’s why so much of the globe was once ruled by European monarchies. Despite all the infighting and territorial exploits, Europeans have managed to create some of the most beautiful pieces of literature, architecture, political structures, and ideas the world has ever seen. These captivating history series never disappoint. If you are a student of history, these are like refresher courses to remember the big picture of historical events. The varied topics this series covers will keep you enthralled for sure. These books are great while on travel, especially if you are visiting Europe or Asia since many books in the series will cover histories of these continents.

Solid overview
This is a great, readable overview of European history. There’s a few errors that closer proofreading could have fixed, but rarely were they distracting. This booked exactly served its purpose for me.

Down and dirty
Good quick overview and recap if most of what I learned from history class. Decent refresher. Obviously many of the the intricate details are missing but that should be left to the more interesting reads.

Too brief
Too much is omitted and the authors prejudiced show through. Not a good depiction of the complexity of the history

Good introduction to European history. Lacked the depth I was hoping for.

I found at least two mistakes, and these made me skeptical about the rest of the book and the series. First, in chapter 24, it calls Karl Marx a russian journalist, but Marx has never visited Russia even once, he was born in Trier (Germany/Prussia) and died in London. Secondly, in chapter 25, it says that the German abbreviation for "National Socialist German Workers Party" spells out the word "NAZI", and that is just completely made up, it is actually NSDAP. The term Nazi had a different origin. These are some red flags for me that make me skeptical about Captivating History in general. It seems like the authors only do surface level research and are focused more on a high output rather than factual validity.
