This is a book about discovering the true you. Have you ever taken a good hard look at how you define yourself? Are you allowing your past, your emotions, or even the blessings from God to become your identity? How do you think it would change your life if you began to define yourself through the lens of Christ and lay aside the different faces we put on each day? Hidden Faces explores how Jesus has come to give us a new identity. It is not one that is determined by all the things we fill our lives with, and not by the circumstances by all the things we fill our lives with, and not by the circumstance we find ourselves in, but to whom we belong. Hidden Faces delves deep into the many areas where we try and compensate for the brokenness we carry. Through personal and Bible stories we will explore how Jesus makes all the difference when it comes to our identity.
Josh Trombley gives 10 Bible examples of people who were hiding from God and/or the truth about themselves, and how this relates to our personal struggles. I enjoyed the way he unpacked Bible stories with wit, insight and humor. He also tells plenty of personal stories to give this book a fresh feeling.
The book’s interior and exterior design is hip. He includes many thoughtful quotes from various authors. Each chapter includes discussion questions for personal or group study. I enjoyed this book as a Christian woman, but I also think it would be a perfect read for teen boys or a resource for men’s Bible study.
I received a preview copy of Hidden Faces from the author.
“Hidden Faces” unmasks many of the character traits that trip up people. Using well know characters from the Bible, you’ll learn how to recognize and address these potentially harmful traits in your life. Joshua’s writing style is thorough but accessible. This book is a mirror...where you will no doubt see yourself in its pages...and the hope of positive change.
Josh Trombley is a classic writer in the making. With 'Hidden Faces' he explores the depths we will go to in our search for love, acceptance and validation.
This is a book about authenticity, that quality that our culture grasps for and at the same time, fails to grasp. Through an exploration of timeless Bible stories, a plethora of song references and confessional stories, Josh takes us inside ourselves with a gentle light to reveal what is hidden there.
Thanks for writing a book that is therapeutic, devotional and comprehensive.
