A memoir of the RAF 66 Squadron book that covers the early part of the war. It was a personal memoir of Squadron Leader then later Wing Commander Dizzy Allen, DFC. Written & published in the late 70s, it gives the life account of a new RAF recruit who made his way up through the ranks.
A solid book if someone wants a memoir rather than a narrative. In some ways memoirs hold better through time. I enjoyed this book & was a fast read of a Spitfire pilot in the Battle of Britain, the Blitz, & his exploits afterwards.
Solid story if you can find this out publication book. I like memoirs tell the day to day life of the people who were in the fight. They were no different than ourselves today, just with technology not as advanced.
