The youngest son of one of America’s richest families, Remy Merced is so busy trying to save his family company from collapse, he’s never taken time to figure out if he’s gay, much less if he’s happy. Then his meddling mama hires him an assistant who’s everything Remy thinks he doesn’t want. Cute Harper Treadwell, from rural Arkansas, is a brilliant business prodigy… and openly gay. His wit and charm could confirm Remy’s suspicions about his own sexuality almost instantly—if they weren’t both already partnered.
When Remy’s girlfriend and Harper’s boyfriend get a little too friendly, Remy finds that the path to happiness requires a long drive in an old Prius, a growing appreciation for small towns, and a whole lot of sweet tea. But before they can forge a future—they have to let go of the past.
Tara Lain believes in happy ever afters - and magic. Same thing. In fact, she says, she doesn't believe, she knows. Tara shares this passion in her stories that star her unique, charismatic heroes and adventurous heroines. Quarterbacks and cops, werewolves and witches, blue collar or billionaires, Tara's characters, readers say, love deeply, resolve seemingly insurmountable differences, and ultimately live their lives authentically. After many years living in southern California, Tara, her soulmate honey and her soulmate dog decided they wanted less cars and more trees, prompting a move to Ashland, Oregon where Tara's creating new stories and loving living in a small town with big culture. Likely a Gryffindor or maybe a Ravensclaw but possessed of Parseltongue, Tara loves animals of all kinds, diversity, open minds, coconut crunch ice cream from Zoeys, and her readers.
A very sweet story. I didn’t like that both Remy and Harper were in relationships and then almost immediately were declaring their love for each other. Other than that, I enjoyed the story.
Love You So Sweetly is (dare I say it) sweeter than Georgia ice tea. This adorable tale tells the story of the city boy and the country mouse. Remy is smart, driven, confused about his sexuality and perhaps because of his momma’s Arkansas roots he is pretty down to earth for a rich California boy. Harper is smart, driven, openly gay and comes from Arkansas. When these two meet you are instantly charmed and want them to find a way to be together. I’m still smiling.
This one finally did it for me. 3.7⭐ for the story and rounding it up to 4⭐, because this one was best of them all in this series. Realistically speaking it's a 3.5⭐ book, but I'm going to be a bit generous with this one.
Remember the billionaire Merced family, right? Remy is the youngest son, a 26 year old entrepreneur, the head of the Tech department. He's having a stale relationship with a woman and when he meets Harper, a 23 year old openly gay business genius from the rural Arkansas, who's hired as Remy's PA, he's seriously starting to question his sexuality.
🟣 Bi-awakening 🟡 Low angst 🔴 Little spice, but still quite good 🟢 Plot actually makes sense 🔵 Both in relationships, but no cheating
I actually really liked this book. It has a rural, southern undertone and it adds a special flavor to the whole story.
I absolutely liked the MCs, they were both interesting, well developed characters with better monologues and dialogues than with the other books in the series.
The bi-awakening was well done and definitely believable.
The love story was developing gradually and it worked for me until 70% of the book, where they said their iloveyou's waaaaay too soon, but I decided to hop around that a little bit, because the story was really romantic and sweet.
The last 30% of the book is sugary and a little bit OTT, but for someone liking a light, romantic read, this one will certainly do the trick.
I am always missing an epilogue in this series and it was badly missing here aswell.
I liked Remy and Harper and their story the most in the series, it's the most interesting and developed book in my opinion, but if you're not that demanding of a serious plot or emotional input and want just something silly and light to read, then this series is for you.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is the fourth in a series, although I have to admit it is my first, and I certainly enjoyed it as a standalone - but will be going back and reading the earlier books.
I really enjoyed the setting of this book, because it was entirely relatable, and yet fitted at the highest level of industry too - the world of retail, trying to set up online grocery deliveries. There is also an element of ethics and discretion when an investment banker wants the limelight. It was cleverly discussed and fitted really well into the romance that ensued. Add in the Southern element, with sweet tea, debutante ball etiquette, suitable behaviour for a gentleman et al, and this is a delicious read.
Remy has been so busy making his mark in the family business that he really hasn't thought about his sexuality at all - and as he unfreezes his emotions, and recognises some of the things clearly in front of his face, he can only act, and aim to live a brighter future. I loved that his family, especially his indomitable mother, are both supportive and unsurprised at his revelations. Harper is also a lovely character, although he has made a very dubious decision at the beginning - but it sets up the story beautifully.
Such a sweet, engaging and happy story. It was perfect bedtime reading... right till I realised I had got to the last page and it was long after midnight!
Love You So Sweetly is the fourth book in the Love You So series, and can be enjoyed as a standalone. We met the Merced family in Love You So Madly as secondary characters.
The plot lines about work and competition helped to balance out this slow-burning attraction. Remy and Harper find they are great together, at work and perhaps outside of it, but realize it’s not okay to mix attraction and business. Harper makes the break final, thinking he’s pining for a straight man or one that might never come out. Felicity is the antithesis of Remy’s southern mama–all about image, diet, and appearance, and this has been wearing on Remy for some time. Harper’s move forces Remy to re-evaluate his life choices, and make new plans for the betterment of himself and Merced Industries.
I liked the thoughtful way Remy approached his interactions. He’s a methodical man, and he’s not eager to make changes without fully considering the ramifications. He runs test after test on the grocery delivery algorithms, and he ponders his options regarding Harper. A true regard grows between them before they get physical—and this is only after each has made a clean break and are available to pursue their attraction. Also, Harper’s move leads him outside of Remy’s chain-of-command, so there’s no professional impropriety.
Love You So Sweetly by Tara Lain is the latest in their Love You So Stories. The title is appropriate because this is a sweet story with an unlikely pairing. Both rich Remy and poor Harper have their share of good and bad points, the chief of which is being too stubborn to see what is right in front of their faces. One of Lain’s trademarks is secondary characters who threaten to steal the story and add to the book’s appeal. The contrast in the settings between Remy’s California and Harper’s Arkansas provides much of the tension in the story. As someone who has spent some time in the deep south, I personally don’t see the appeal of Harper’s small town, but other than that, I was glad to see the MCs wind up together. How that happens is so cute it might require a dentist due to sugar overload!
Love You So Sweetly is a quick read, and it definitely is very sweet! Remy and Harper were both awesome, and I loved that they had such supportive families! Lain always manages to have characters that touch my heart, and that was also the case with this story. I enjoyed how the story unfolded, and especially how Remy came to terms with so many things in his life. Harper was very smart, and also adorable, so there was nothing not to love about him.
Love You So Sweetly by Tara Lain was provided to me in exchange for an honest review. Remy Merced a true workaholic was forced to get an assistant by his Mama to help him work less and find happiness. Enter Harper Treadwell business genius, who endeared himself to everyone and hoped to prove his worth to his boss by starting with the perfect cup of coffee. The story was as wonderful as southern sweet tea and hospitality throughout. Throw in some corporate espionage, self contemplation, sweet tea and Mama’s and you have a great story.
There's nothing better than spending the afternoon with wonderful characters created by Tara Lain. I am always confident that I am in for a good read when I pick up one of her books. Love You So Sweetly was the perfect morsel of opposites attract, what is this I'm feeling story! This is a sweet, sexy romance filled with humor, sass and so much more that will just make your day. Love Remy and Harper!
“The best love is the kind that awakens the soul; that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds.” – Nicholas Sparks
Remy Merced, of ‘Love You So Sweetly’ by Tara Lain, is so busy with work, that he hardly has time to breathe. Seeing how overworked he is, Remy’s mother hires an administrative assistant for him, because she figures that he will never do it himself. She’s hoping that it will ease the load on Remy so he will have some much-needed downtime.
Harper Treadwell, Remy’s new assistant, is the son of a friend of his mother’s from back home in Arkansas. Remy notices how attractive Harper is, but insists he doesn’t need him. Harper, who is excited to work for Remy, is disappointed when Remy tells him this and is prepared to go back home. Remy decides that, even though he doesn’t need Harper’s help, there is enough work for others in the company, to keep him busy. Harper is capable of doing so much more, but it’s better than nothing.
Harper has come there with his boyfriend, an older businessman who hooked up with Harper after he found out that he would be working for Remy’s company. He is more interested in obtaining company secrets than he is in Harper, although Harper doesn’t know that. When Harper refuses to give in and tell his boyfriend what he has learned, he is furious. They have a huge argument and Harper leaves. Without anywhere else to go, Harper finds himself at Remy’s door, but when Remy opens it, Harper sees that he’s not alone. Remy’s girlfriend is there wearing nothing but one of his shirts.
Remy and Harper are wonderful characters, both of whom needed to learn that happiness only comes when you can be yourself. Freedom comes with risks, but the results are so worth it. Thanks, Tara, for helping Remy and Harper find that what truly matters, is love.
This was a super cute angst free read. Loved both Remy and Harper. So glad part of the book took place in the south with all the quirky characters. Made it more fun. Nothing too deep or life changing but a great way to spend an afternoon.
Harper worked at the community center. The center looks for jobs and helps people network as well as socialize. Somehow he has to leave and blinded by his boyfriend he travels with him to California.
Remy, CEO of the family company, works hard to prevent the company from collapsing. Getting a PA isn’t what he wants but they get along very well and Harper is a very intelligent and attractive young man. With a girlfriend, it’s not fair to think about Harper. Harper is a big addition to the company, Harper develops feelings for Remy, and Remy can’t get enough of watching Harper. It seems Harper's boyfriend is a big mistake and can’t handle the fact that Harper breaks up with him. He is getting nasty.
What a wonderfully warm story, with honest feelings, no second agendas and straight to the point attitudes. Remy and Harper together was a delight for the eye. Both with kind personalities. The ex-boyfriend and the girlfriend both had a significant place in this story but it was mostly about Harper and Remy, how they try to save the company and growing to each other. It was altogether a kind of a fairytale about the extremely rich businessman and the sweet poor nerd. A smoothly written story, with a comfortable pace, enough attention to the most important parts. I loved the community, I loved what the company established and I loved mama Anastasia. There is a lot of delicious coffee, but in the end, they all preferred some sweet tea.
Remy works to hard in order to keep the family company going and needs help. He doesn't have time to hire anyone let alone sleep so his mother decides to do it for him. An old family friend has a son looking for a job and seems perfect to assist Remy , so his mom hired him site unseen. Remy doesn't want help but goes along with his mother's request reluctantly giving him a chance.
Enter Harper, a young man looking for his chance at a career after graduating college. He jumps at the opportunity to assist at a big company. Little does these two know that both their lives are about to change.
Remy has a girlfriend but doesn't see her often which is Ok for him. He always had an attraction for men but put that aside to focus on work. Once Harper is around he finds himself immediately attracted to him. Harper is openly gay and had a boyfriend so Remy feels he is safe. While Remy and Harper try to solve a problem at the company, they grow closer and find themselves falling for each other. Harper has to decide where his loyalty lies and Remy has to fight for what he wants.
Remy has to decide what will make him happy. With the help of his mother, Remy finally does and goes after it.
I loved how Tara slowly made their attraction burn. They didn't just jump into bed together. Her stories are always sweet with low angst but we get the HEA.

Love You So Sweetly is an amazing read by Tara Lain. This boss/employee romance is riveting and compelling. Although fourth in the Love You So Series, it is easily read as a standalone.
Harper made an impulsive move to California to move in with a man twice his age. Ends up it wasn't such a great decision. But he does meet the workaholic Remy, and the two hit it off.
Harper and Remy are so cute together. Harper's rambling is a hoot.
They have to deal with outside manipulation, both good and bad, as well as homophobic small town views. They have to deal with the differences between small towns and big cities.
I love this story from the start. The author's writing always manages to draw me in with loveable characters, smooth writing, great flow, and a wonderful storyline.
I love, love, love this story. Love You So Sweetly is a fantastic tale of one coming to terms with one's sexuality. It a superb read of realizing there's more to life than work. And yes, it is super sweet!
I’ve really enjoyed this series but I’m kind of on the fence about this one as there were parts I really liked, but certain parts didn’t work for me as well.
I very much enjoyed the first half of this book as the guys were introduced and slowly started working together. I loved both Remy and Harper, they were great characters individually and together. Remy with his discovery of himself was nice to read. Harper was a sweety, just a lovely guy who wanted to help people. I felt for him at the start when he thought he wasn’t getting the job.
My issues were basically once they both were free of their partners they were instantly declaring their love for each other without even really knowing each other or being together as a couple, or that is what it felt like to me. It just seemed a bit rushed and a bit forced
Once that was out of the way the book powered ahead, and I loved the way the story worked itself out. The use of the towns people was good and it was nice to see Harper having a conversation with the guys at the community centre giving them a chance to ask questions and educate themselves.
The secondary characters were again highlights in this book.
It was an easy read and an enjoyable one. Great addition to the series

This had so many charming southern traditions, it was a joy to read.
Harper Treadwell is from nowhere Arkansas, where he was the only gay man in town. When he had an opportunity to leave and start over in California with a rich, high powered corporate man, he took it. But it didn't take long to discover he wasn't in the best situation.
Remy works more than he should. More than anyone should, really. So, when his mother hires an assistant for him sight unseen, he's less than impressed. But Harper shows he's more than capable. He also shows Remy that he may not be as straight as he once thought.
I loved the office romance part of this, as well as the sudden click of 'meant to be'. It was sweet (pun intended) and everything a romance should be.
The sweet tea and southern charm really added a distinct flavor to the story, almost making Arkansas its own character addition.
I was charmed.

This is such a fun, sweet series with so much feels. I love how Tara Lain works the title into the story and being from the south near Arkansas I really related to Harper and I loved Remy and his family, especially his mother as well. If you like sweet contemporary romance, southern roots, southern hospitality, billionaires, office romance and sweet tea you will love this story… and no you don’t have to read this series in order at all each stand-alone but the others are so good I suggest you read them too!
Harper is hired as Remy's assistant. They get along great and it's not long till Remy realises how smart and helpful Harper is .
I enjoyed watching their relationship grow as they worked. As a personal online shopper, I found I had a connection to one of the overall subjects in the book that gave me an added level of happy whilst reading.
This book is a easy read with good flow. It's a happy, joyful story that I really enjoyed and would happily recommend.
I fell in love with these characters from the word go. Remy has achieved great things in his life, while Harper is hoping that working for Remy will help to establish his career.
Remy isn't gay, or is he? Even if he is, he's never thought twice to act on it, because he's so busy. But with Harper tempting him day in and day out just with his nearness, he can't help but wonder what's going on.
I loved the humour and working relationship between Remy and Harper, I liked the way in which the tension built up between them. After they meet, what follows is a story full of twists and turns, and two guys falling in love in the midst of all the chaos.
As usual, very well written, with incredibly likeable MCs and enjoyable secondary characters. The plot was interesting, drew me in and kept me reading. The banter between Remy and Harper was snarky, sexy and fun. It's a slow burn romance, but when the MCs connect, it's hawt! I found the ending incedibly sweet and satisfying.
A fun angsty read, Remy and Harper were really great characters. The storyline was sweet (the title was spot on) and engaging, all in all a very enjoyable read.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book*
Remy Merced is rich, handsome, smart and straight. At least, he lets everyone believe he's straight. His mother hires an assistant for Remy because she thinks he needs someone to help him organize and maybe get some personal time. She didn't count on Harper Treadwell changing Remy's entire life! Remy fights the attraction. Harper is confused by the attraction. The men eventually figure out they belong together!! It's a fast but cute love story.
There is a bad guy but he's so obvious as to be silly at times. And his motivation wasn't clear to me but maybe I'm dense. I sort of craved a total explanation since he was so darn determined to mess with the Merced family.
Remy's family is introduced very effectively. I liked his whole family and their backstories. Harper's family and hometown were really sweet. I understood why these men would be attracted to each other.
Quote: He extended an arm to ward off the intrusive ministrations and came face-to-face with -- who? He'd never seen the guy before. Young, with straight dark hair that was just that bit too long, kind of like his own, a slim face with high cheekbones and huge, doe-lie eyes of the clearest blue behind dark-rimmed glasses. page 15
Love You So Sweetly is a sweet romantic story about two souls who connect with each other. We have Remy who runs the family business, a mama's boy and is confused about his sexuality. Then, we have Harper is openly gay, smart, and very passionate about his career. The book is sweet, funny, and I loved it from start to finish. Once I started the book I couldn't put it down and I read it in once sitting. I love Tara Lain's books and I'm looking forward to the next one.
3.5 stars-I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
This story is sweet, angsty and full of Southern Charm. It’s the story of a wealthy tech CEO and the assistant he doesn’t quite mean to fall in love with. Remy Merced’s family is powerful and his meddling mother is a formidable force. But her meddling does bring Harper into Remy’s life and soon Remy can’t be sure whether Harper is better for Remy’s business or his heart.
Harper is a small town Southern boy who quickly learns that Southern California is a whole new world. By the time he realises he may have made a mistake when he moved West on a whim, he has grown attached to his job at Merced - and to Remy himself. I really love Harper’s brains, his drive, and his complete naivety. Remy is only a couple of years older than Harper, but running his own business has given him experience and made him more than a little bit jaded. I love how the combination of Harper’s ideas and Remy’s experience are the key to business success.
While I did really enjoy the slow burn romance between Harper and Remy, I have to say that the plot to this story is unnecessarily sprawling and messy. For a romance, there are times there is far too much focus on Remy’s internal family politics. At other times, there is far too much focus on Remy’s business. Themes and observations about small town economies and the barriers to internet expansion make things even more complicated. Add in the partners that both Remy and Harper start the book with and there is just way too much going on in a single book.
So. The strength of this story lies in the romance and the characters. The weaknesses are in the burgeoning, messy plots that weave around the central romance. I think British readers will laugh as I did when I compared my regular online Tesco shops to the experience Harper and Remy give their customers. I can’t help thinking that maybe we need a little bit of Southern charm with our grocery deliveries over here too!
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and I have chosen to leave an honest review.
Remy Merced is a billionaire head of a Division of his family's company. Harper Treadwell is a poor man son of Remy's mother's best friend. Remy is so busy and needs help but is to busy to even interview for an assistant. Harper has a MBA and needs a job. Remy's mother hires him to be Remy's assistant. Remy pawns him of on his administrative assistant. Harper is an insightful analysist of trends in the company. Remy is trying to make a functioning profitable online grocery business. Harper find what makes the one region in the latest test batch performs best.
Harper is with a male stock adviser and Remy is with a high level female stock broker, both of their significant others are trying to get insider information out of Remy or Harper. Harper and Remy are falling for each other. But when Harper leaves his boyfriend and goes to warn Remy -- Remy's girlfriend who he was breaking up with come out in just Remy's shirt and gives Harper the false impression that Remy and her just had sex.
Harper goes back to Arkansas, and Remy drives Harper's old Prius to Arkansas. It is in Arkansas, that Harper and Remy comes up with the missing element to make it a success, a southern hospitality touch with a personal shopper guarenteeing that the customers get exactly what they want.
Remy and Harper work everything out and get married. a great book.
What a beautiful and sweet feelgood story! Remy is a rich business owner of a popular food chain and Harper is hired as his personal assistant by his mother who thinks he is working too much. Harper comes from Arkansas where Remys food markets were founded, before his parents moved the company and the family to California. Honestly I don't know much about the south and I couldn't tell the difference between Arkansas, Arizona or Alaska (well I have been to Alaska, so I know it is not in the south, and I watched Forrest Gump, but that's about it...). Still, this story really resonated with me, it was such a fun read, light and sweet as the title suggests. Harper probably simply solves the problems of online food shopping, where Remy and everyone else in the industry, including Jeff Bezos failed, within days... Never mind, reality is not interfering here, but I couldn't care less, it was a perfect distraction and a heartwarming story about love and the American south, which it seems is a special place with a special mood, different from the rest of the country. I needed a distraction from the post World War 1 story I am reading at the same time, and this was perfect for that purpose, 4 stars and recommended!
This was...way too similar to Love You So Madly. A rich guy and a poor guy, one in a committed relationship for most of the story, an insanely fast turnaround from breakup to in love with the other MC, remaking a life/location for the relationship extremely soon after getting together as a grand gesture...far too many similarities and very little transition between the relationships to make either believable.
Unlike Ben making an effort to be around and involve Dusty in a lot of his life, in Remy's case he spent so long dithering and also sending Harper to other admins and departments that he didn't actually have more than a passing acquaintance with the man in order to develop the kind of love they're professing by the end. I just didn't buy it. And with almost a deus ex machina saving of Windy Pines that magically solved Merced's grocery business it was just too much with too few pages to do any of it any justice.
I liked the story overall, it wasn't complicated, but it was convoluted and way too rushed to find it truly enjoyable enough to recommend. My least favorite of the series by far. Not a bad story, just not one for me. 2.5 stars.
Cute, but a little too cute. This is my third Tara Lain book and while they were nice, I had the same issues with all of them. The stories were a bit too sweet and superficial to me and me and her sexy scenes don't mesh. In this one it took a really long time for something to finally happen and all of a sudden they were deeply committed to each other and Remy's coming out to both himself and the world was as easy as anything. I would have liked to see more build up and relationship development. I guess sweet tea isn't for me. ;)
A fabulous 4.5 stars! This review along with other lots of cool stuff can be found at Love Bytes Reviews
Remy Merced is bone tired. Between the stress of his job, the pressure to not let his family down and his fizzling relationship with his girlfriend, he just can’t catch a break. His mother decides he needs some help, so she hires her friend from Arkansas’s son to be his assistant. But Remy doesn’t want an assistant – even if it is the undeniably adorable Harper Treadwell. Harper may be brilliant, but Remy is none too happy that his mother has gone behind his back.
But when Remy cannot see the forest for the trees, he finally figures out that maybe he needs a fresh perspective and set of eyes on his problems. His family grocery store empire is suffering and he can’t find the right ingredients to make online shopping viable. Even the great Amazon is struggling with it and he can’t perfect the recipe. But with Harper’s help, he may have an idea as to the secret sauce that might make it work. In the meantime, Harper’s ex seems to be WAY too interested in what’s going on with his company.
Remy also can’t seem to ignore the fact that he’s attracted to Harper, and he’s not sure what that means. Turns out he’s messed around with guys before, but knowing how conservative the customers and board of directors might be about such, he really doesn’t want to make waves. Even though he knows he’s not in love with Felicity, his workaholic girlfriend, nor is she in love with him, it’s been convenient and he’s not sure what he should to about it. When Harper discovers that he’s been a pawn in some machinations that are ill-intended to Remy and his family, and he subsequently misinterprets another situation with Remy, he takes off for Arkansas. Remy can’t believe that Harper is gone and he’s determined to get him back. And maybe he can solve his business problems too!
I am a huge fan of this series. All the romances are sweet and satisfying and I think this one might be my favorite. Tara Lain’s writing always leaves me with a smile on my face and a big fat happy ending. Remy grows from workaholic manchild ignoring his own desires to a happy, successful, satisfied adult. Harper learns to stand up for himself and maybe give more credit to his town and friends than he did in the past. He opens himself up to honesty with his community and they embrace him even more! The lovely southernisms and charm of the whole Merced clan as well as Harper’s mother and the townsfolk of Windy Pines, Arkansas, contribute to the beautiful setting and feel of this book. Honestly, I just really loved it. My only complaint is that that I wish we got even more of Remy and Harper! They are completely adorable and made for each other!
