Can a cat solve a murder? It’s holiday time in the sleepy beachside town of Calgon, Florida, and Cupcake baker/amateur sleuth Melissa Beckett is about to find out just how smart a furry friend can be. When an adorable stray leads her to the scene of a gruesome crime, the investigation into the reclusive victim's life begins. The victim doesn't seem to have any enemies, which makes the search for a suspect much more complicated than Missy, and her dashing husband, Detective Chas Beckett, thought it might be. Meanwhile, new relationship issues abound between the busy sleuth’s besties, Echo and Carla, and their new love interests, bringing drama and laughs to the rest of the holiday craziness. Will Missy find a killer's identity under the tree this year?
Summer Prescott is well-known in the Cozy Mystery realm, having written and published several Best-Sellers in the genre. An avid reader of Thrillers, Horror and Suspense, the author has decided to follow her passion with the debut of her Thriller, The Quiet Type, which launched in the top 50 of the Serial Killer category on Amazon. The novel has received high praise in its reviews, and Summer is considering a possible trilogy or series to continue the story.
Missy Gladstone-Beckett's friend, Echo, is down in the dumps. Missy suggests she take a walk on the beach to lift her spirits. While walking on the beach, Echo found a man near the surf digging glass out of his foot. As Echo talked with the young man, she learned the young man, Beau Garrity, was homeless and having trouble finding a job. Echo introduces Beau to Spencer and Missy, who offer to give him some work to help him out.
Heading out to lunch, Missy and Echo find a small kitten in the bushes near the back door of the shop. Checking the tag on the collar, Missy realizes that the kitten lives just down the street from the inn. There does not appear to be anybody at home, but when Missy and Echo check the back of the house, there is a terrible stench from the home. It turned out that the kitten, whose name is Moose, belonged to Cassandra Bielman, an elderly woman was dead.
How did Cassandra die? Was it natural causes, accident, or murder? If she was murdered, who killed her? Why was she killed? Can Missy, Chas and their friends unravel the mystery?
Summer Prescott has another winner with this book. Adding unknown factors such as a homeless person and an out-of-town guest adds to the twists and turns normally found in her books. This is a great addition to a fantastic series and I look forward to more books in the future.
Things are going nicely; bakery is busy and just getting ready to prep for the holidays but then a sweet cat keeps showing up at the bakery and Echo finds a homeless man while walking on the beach, so Missy and Chas set him up with Spencer to do odd jobs around the B&B and they have a strange visitor who seems mostly harmless. Finally, they get the kitten to trust them and discover he lives a few doors away but when Missy and Echo go to take him home something is clearly wrong and that's where things go straight to chaos. A wealthy woman has been murdered and there are too many suspects, so Missy, Echo and Kel decide to investigate on their own, well that unleashes lots of surprises and suspicions with unexpected twists but in end the Chas and the terrifying trio come to the same conclusion and the murderer is found along with some questions about the homeless man who disappeared with a few things that didn't belong to him. Great read.
I have left some 5 star reviews and some written as well . I just cannot seem to get enough of Missy , Chas and their family and friends. This series is wonderful. It has love, mystery, friendship and just life's problems . As they figure who did what and catch murders but yet stay loyal to one another . If you have not read this series you should check them out .
This book is another winner in a long standing series. As always, the mystery is well written and the characters are awesome. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Echo finds a homeless young man and invites him to do a few odd jobs. When a murder in town happens she starts to think she made the wrong choice. The story line was faster paced and pulled me in. I still wish the stories were longer so you got a chance to know more of the characters.
Start with book one and continue This exciting series as Chas and missy solve mystery and murder! Summer Prescott I love your characters and storylines!
All of the characters are growing into their roles into the book, and I'm glad that Echo is getting her sea-legs again. We only see Clara at the end of the book, and I'm kind of wondering how Prescott is going to be using her in the future.
This mystery was interesting, but a little too obvious. I didn't really enjoy the fact that I could figure it out so quickly and so close to the beginning of the book. I still enjoyed the characters looking into the murder and trying to figure out who did it.
Another great Frosted Love Mystery. Though this mystery seemed more tame, it still did not disappoint. Each of the regular characters seem to be taking turns finding strays and taking care of them. this time it is Echo's turn. While walking on the beach, she finds a young man who has cut his foot. she takes the time to make sure he is ok but also discovers he is homeless. Just like Missy, she can't let him go without trying to help. Spencer takes him on as well as a stray kitten. Even the kitten isn't all he's cracked up to be. This story seems much more quiet and as if there isn't as much going on as usual but this is deceivng. there is another murder in Calgon and while one mytery is solved, so is another. The holidays are approaching and aren't quite there yet. This is the perfect installment between Thanksgiving and Christmas to come, I am so excited to see what is in store!
The holidays are approaching but that doesn't stop Missy and the gang from becoming involved in another criminal investigation. Echo, who is down in the dumps, befriends a homeless young man while walking on the beach. Of course, Missy and, especially, Spencer, take this young man under their wing. Is that a good idea, though? You'll have to read it to find out! I really like the camaraderie between Missy, Echo and Kel and I love the relationship between Missy and Chas. While the last two books were a little darker in nature, Gingerbread Murder returns to the series' lighter side. The only problem I have reading these books is that they make my mouth water for Missy's delicious cupcakes! Enjoy!
I have enjoyed many books from this series and they each become better, with more complex mysteries and characters that become more fully dimensional. Missy and her friend Echo always attempt to help the underdog (usually a new character or two), in each installment. Missy's husband a police detective seems to appreciate her help or is just smart enough to act like he does. A very satisfying read.
Curl up, Grab a cupcake, Relax and Lose yourself trying to figure out " Who Done It". Missy and Chas will grows on you and so will their friends. An enjoyable read that will help you escape all the holiday stress. Read, enjoy and then get ready for the next installment.
Another great addition to the frosted love cozy mystery series. Between picking up stray cats and animals, the adventure has a lot of twists and turns for you to enjoy!
I just think that everyone should have a friend like Missy. These books are so heartfelt. I love the mystery and enjoy the chase to find the killer but I also enjoy the friendship.
When a homeless man runs into Echo and Spencer takes him under his wing not knowing him bad things might definitely start happening. I sure hope Missy can straighten up Carla before it's too late.
