( If you hate harems, graphic sex and cheesy Gen 1 Pokemon references, DO NOT read on. For the rest of you...)What If Instead Of Pocket Monsters, You Caught Monster Girls? For Yoshi Soysauce, this is his life. Like all trainers, his goal is to build his dream team of six, powerful girlfriends, take on the Merah League and become the greatest girlfriend master that ever lived. The day he's meant to leave his hometown of Topaz, he sleeps in. The starters Vara, Charmaine and Bubblina are claimed by other trainers. He absolutely cannot live with his parents for another year, so he begs Professor Poke for a spare girlfriend. Poke lends him Starlotte, a quiet interstellar-type with no attacking moves or memory of how she was captured. The deal? Find his lab assistant in the next town, make the delivery then return her. No using her for battles, period. If he sees a wild girlfriend, he must escape. From the very first wild girlfriend he faces, Yoshi quickly finds out that the only way he can become the trainer he wishes to be is not by escaping, but instead breaking the rules and running head-first into the battle.
I did not expect much from the book except some silly laughs. It turned out to be surprisingly good! There were quite a few typos in the book but nothing that you cant work around. The "sexy" parts are not overly done and are spaced out enough that it doesn't just feel like you are reading a smut book. I really like the fact that it was based on a very well known anime/manga that millions love. It was interesting to see how the author would blend his ideas with the norms from the "universe " he was basing his book on. Definitely work a read even if it's just for some lols.
I love pokemon, and even though this author's other books aren't well received this one was. I decided to give it a shot and holy shit was it enjoyable. Can't wait to read the 2nd one. The main character endeared me to him by his straightforwardness and how dimwitted he is, but his heart was always in the right place. The sex was well described and tasteful. All the sex scenes made sense in the context of the story. I enjoyed myself.
What I liked- Actually well written, takes the premise seriously (Pokemon inspired world). Being a big fan of those Pokemon games, I’m definitely biased but this really did bring back all the nostalgia goodness. The plot and chars have enough depth to them beyond just being the typical fanfiction. It is honestly refreshing with just the right mixture of very familiar trivia elements and interesting little new twists to them.
What I didn’t- The MC is a bit silly initially. Does get better gradually. Some plot devices felt forced, as if done just for the sake of it.
Overall- 9.2/10 Having grown up on Pokemon games like Fire Red, Leaf Green, Emerald etc, and having recently gotten into the wonderful world of Harem Erotica, this right here felt like the best of both worlds to me. So yeah this is handsdown going into my guilty pleasure classics list. Adventure fantasy with adult harem and gatcha elements where the women are well crafted and distinct, and actually add to the battle power of the MC- That’s pretty much the definition of Guilty Pleasure in my dictionary. I hope this eventually grows into a long series.
The disclaimer says it all; must be ok with Pokemon references. They weren't kidding!
The story itself wasn't bad, actually. It was a basic Pokemon story with the added elements of harem and sexy time. The only reason I didn't give it give stars were the few errors I found later in the book. Honestly surprised at how few there were, then suddenly there were a few, almost like the back 25% didn't get the same careful eye as the rest.
Good read, honest kinda interested in what the next book had to offer.
When I first saw this book, I wasn't sure what to expect. It could be either decent or really bad. Luckily this was a surprisingly good book. I appreciated how it kept some aspects of the game real, explained the physics of it to a point, an entertaining plot with developed characters and romance. This is topped by the nostalgia that comes with Pokémon. Recommend reading this despite some of the grammatical errors.
At first I wasn't too sure about this book, but I got it and gave it a try. I was surprised, I have to admit. It was funny, had a readable story that kept my attention. The sex scenes were not all over the place but at a good interval. The girls were loveable, in their own way, and each had a very distinct personalities. The MC was goofy, brave and loyal, like a good trainer should be. All in all it was a very fun book to read and would love to read the sequels.
It's a bit clumsy and the hero could stand to be more likable but it's not bad. Though it's slow in some places and needs a bit more heart in my opinion. Vague I know.
Thought it would just be a bad parody of Pokémon story line with lot of sex scenes. Surprised to find the opposite. Sex scenes we’ll spread out and sent too awkward and the plot actually has a hook. Look forward to the rest of this series.
