I'm sorry to say I was a bit disappointed by this book. Unlike the first three in this series, it does not really take place in Rattlesnake Ridge, but on a ranch close by. Which is okay, since there probably live more people on nearby ranches than in the town itself. But that does mean that the characters we got to know in the first three books hardly play a role. And that was one of the things I loved so much about this series: that the authors create their own community, together.
Only the sheriff plays a minor role at the end.

This book feels a bit too much like just another mail order bride story. I did enjoy the story, but there were times I realized I was reading the same page over and over, because it didn't come through...
Too bad, since I've read books by Nan O'Berry before, which I really liked!

To tell or not to tell that is the real question. Caledonia McBride (Callie) has accepted Seth Nolan’s proposal and has travelled to Rattlesnake Ridge to marry him. There is one major problem, Seth didn’t write the letters and to top it off has already married another. At times it is hard to decide if Max Barringer simply a really nice guy, a pushover or a combination of them both. He agrees to take Callie to his ranch to stay with his family until the cowboys that cooked up the scheme come up with the money to send her home. Nan O’Berry does a good job keeping you guessing how she will find out the truth. A very enjoyable story.

Still struggling to cope with the aftereffects of the Civil War, Callie, a young Southern woman responds to a mail-order-bride advertisement. Following several months of correspondence she agrees to travel to Rattlesnake Ridge, Nevada to marry Seth Nolan. Callie’s arrival in Nevada sets in motion a chain of events, sometimes comical, often very sweet, but altogether confusing for Callie as to why Seth Nolan is not available.

Max Barringer has been convinced by three well-meaning cowboys to keep Callie from finding out what’s up with Seth and complications ensue. The Sheriff comes to everyone’s rescue in a really great scene near the end. I received a free advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily providing my honest review. This book is very good and I recommend it to everyone who enjoys sweet romance with a few good laughs.

Max and Callie

This is a sweet mail order bride tale written by Nan O’Berry and she has done an amazing job with the plot and the characters. There is lots of excitement and adventure. This tale starts with three not so bright, cowboys looking for a way to not work so hard. They decide to get a mail order bride for their boss, a friend and neighbor of Max. They only problem by is that before Callie arrives her intended marries someone else. When Callie arrives the three don’t know what to do with her now. So they contact Max, as he is the smartest man they can think of. Max agrees to take Callie to his ranch where his mother and sister are,so she won’t be unchaperoned in this somewhat wild town. You will enjoy the twists and turns in this tale as you discover how Max and Callie find their happily ever after.

This was the gentlest of the Rattlesnake Ridge books so far, and it had, for me, the most compelling male main character. Max is bamboozled into looking after Callie, who has been brought to Rattlesnake Ridge under false pretenses, however well meant. Taking her home to the protection of his mother and sister, Max really leaves himself open to a great deal of ribbing. However, he also falls in love with her, having felt a spark when they met. Unaware of the unavailability of her “promised husband,” Callie fights her own attraction, and the reader is on tenterhooks waiting for her to find out the truth. This is a gentle read that leaves you happier than when you started it. I read an advance copy of this book, and recommend it to those new to Rattlesnake Ridge.

Caledonia McBride arrives in Rattlesnake Ridge but she does not know that the man she thought she had been writing is already married. She goes to stay at Max's ranch until the ones that wrote to her can figure out what to do with her.
Max has his mother and sister also leaving in his house.
Can they keep the secret form her long enough to find a way to send her back home? Would she even want to go back home? Can she go back home now after the civil war destroyed so much?
Such a great read!!!!!!

Sweet romance

I liked the general idea of the plot line and the descriptions of the scenery had me walking in the scene beside the characters. The characters lacked depth and though an intriguing idea, the storyline was a bit far fetched in my opinion. The idea that no one would tell a woman that her intended was already married and persist in maintaining that lie for a week is a bit unbelievable. The moral (that truth is the only way) comes through loud and clear, however. There were a few editing mistakes that also detracted from the story.

A sweet read about Callie and Max. Callie is brought as a mail order bride for Seth except Seth doesn't know anything about it. His hired hands brought Callie in except by the time she arrived Seth had already married so they didnt know what to do. They convinced Max to take her to his family's place. The family starts to fall in love with her. Max doesn't know how to explain the situation and as he ends up falling for her. She fights her feeling for him. Their HEA requires work to get there and some misunderstandings.

I received a free advance review copy of this book and am voluntarily providing my honest review. Thanks to 3 goofy ranch hands, Callie comes to Rattlesnake Ridge to marry Seth, but Seth got married while on a business trip. Now the 3 don't know what to do. They coerce Max into taking her home with him, until they can raise the money to send her back home. I loved this book and recommend it.

A romantic story with a twist is what you will find in this 1870's story of a mail-order bride from Virginia named Callie. I really liked this story and the Barringer family. I especially liked Max, who portrayed a strong, sensitive, gentlemanly character just trying to help out and then not knowing how to resolve the problem. It made the story very interesting, I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Three cowboys write letters as their rancher boss to Caledonia McBride who is a mail order bride. When Caledonia arrives in Rattlesnake Ridge to marry the rancher the cowboys have to think quick and have Maxwell take her back to his ranch because their boss just got married. Max takes her home and the truth is hidden from her that Seth is married. This is a sweet wonderful romantic pioneer story and I enjoyed reading it. I received this book as an arc for an honest review of it.

Callie has come all the way from Virginia to Rattlesnake Ridge to marry Seth Nolan. They’ve been exchanging letters for almost a year now. But when she arrives to Carlson’s City Max Barringer is picking her up. Seth is away attending some business, so she will wait for him at the Barringer’s Ranch. Max is keeping a secret from Callie and he is falling in live with her. Have they a chance of a future togetherness?

I am not fond of historicals but I have really enjoyed the books in this series. This one was no exception. The concept of mail order brides is hard to think about in this day and age, but times were hard for the war torned areas. The stories are chaste as the time would demand. The story is well written and makes the past come alive and the pressures of women to keep their reputations from being ruined so real. You will enjoy this book but dont be afraid to read them all.

Callie comes to Rattlesnake Ridge to marry Seth, too bad the men is already married and doesn't know that the three guys working for him paid for her trip. They paid for a trip but they can't afford to sent her back, they ask Max for help. Somehow Max agree to help and keep her at his ranch. while Callie and Max spend more time together and learn more things about each other they develop feelings.
What would happen when Calli find out the truth?

Callie leaves Virginia to head to Rattlesnake Ridge after corresponding with who she thinks is Seth for several months. When she arrives she is not made aware of the secrets and lies that will affect her life. Will it be for the better? Max watches over her but keeps the secrets from her all the while. Can their feelings for each other be real? Will they both get their HEA? A very sweet story. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

An entertaining read about a gal from Richmond, VA who has fallen in love with the the man described in the letters that she’s received. Only that man didn’t write her or know anything about her. She is kept at Max’s ranch and chaperoned by his Mother and sister, till Max and the 3 guys responsible for the letters figure out what to do.
Another exciting read about Rattlesnake Ridge.

I enjoyed this book, so far it has been my favorite of this series. The story is very well written, I had to laugh at some places in the book and then you would feel heartache for poor Callie. I would definitely recommend this sweet read to others.

Cute stoy about a mail order bride

The story was simple in its composition, however there were editing mistakes throughout which distracted me as a reader. The ending seemed a little rushed, also. Thank you.
