When marriage-shy Mason Crawford and spitfire Jenny Carson meet, their unexpected attraction is undeniable. The road ahead looks promising until storm clouds of anger and pride roll in. Can they weather the tempest, or will it dash their hopes for love and acceptance?
I am a shameless romance addict with no intentions of ever kicking the habit. Growing up I dreamed of entertaining people and taking them on fantastical journeys with my acting abilities, until I came to the realization as a college sophomore that I had none to speak of. Another ten years would pass before I discovered a different means to accomplishing the same dream: writing stories of love and passion for addicts just like me.I have always loved romance stories and I try to tie all the elements I like about them into my writing.
it's a mail order bride romance and it's a clean Romance, there's no smut in it. it's a prequel in the Montana westward brides series. very short read. it was an okay read for me but it wasn't very exciting, most of the book focuses on mason and Jenny's budding relationship. Towards the end the story picked up a bit but then it seemed to get cut short and the rest was explained in the epilogue. if you enjoy a clean romance set in the west then i think you'll enjoy this book.

This is a super-short story about mail-order brides. It has SOOO much promise to be a good book. The problem is that it's too short. I really wanted to watch the characters transform and I just didn't really "see" much of a transformation.
It was a good idea to throw in some child abuse because the story was lacking conflict. I wanted to see some problems so I could see some action. I think the story needs to be longer, so we can see more character development and better pacing of the storyline.
Amelia Rose has the ability to write a good story, but I think she needs to flesh it out more.
All the other books I've listened to of Amelia's have been sweet. But I did not like how this one spoke so much about sex. The bedroom scenes were "behind closed doors" so to speak, but the discussion about it was not enjoyable at all. They discussed their virginity before marriage and each kiss after their first one, revolved around how heated they were. I just don't believe it added anything to the story, and for me, it definitely decreased my enjoyment. It makes me afraid a bit, of repeating this in the rest of this series. And I already own the entire series of audiobooks.
On a positive note, the narration was excellent! Since the author and narrator have same same last name, I hope they're related, maybe even married, and I hope he continues narrating!
When I read reviews I want this list of questions answered so that I can know if a book should be to my liking. Since these questions aren’t usually answered in reviews I figure it’s my job to do so. Happily Ever After? Yes Does the hero treat the heroine badly in the beginning? No Does the heroine treat the hero badly in the beginning? No If the answers for 2 or 3 are yes, then do they make appropriate amends for their bad behavior? Is this book Christian? Mentions praying over dinner and being married in a church but nothing more Are there sex scenes in this book? No If there is sex, are the sex scenes explicit? Is the heroine a virgin? Yes Is the heroine sexually assaulted? No Is the hero a virgin? Yes Is there non-romantic drama (as in a kidnapping, murder, feud, or other intrigue that isn’t centered on romance)? Mildly Is the end satisfying? It is “meh” It ends fine but was lacking Is the book “icky” to modern ideals or sensibilities? (As in, a 15 year old marrying a 30 year old was acceptable in 1815 but might make a modern reader uncomfortable) No
In this story about Jenny and Carson we read about an almost perfect love between two people who first learn about each other through their letters and when they meet, though there is a bit of uncertainty about their relationship, they find they like each other very much and work on that.i This 'liking' soon turns into full-blown love and though there are differences of opinion, they are able to sort that out. What I enjoyed most about these characters was that they built a solid trust and a devoted caring for each other and also that they were both keen to help others too. The story is written from the heart and is a quick and easy read that made me wish for it to continue but it also left me content in the knowledge that 'they made it work'! And that's a big sigh from me as well as a recommendation for you to read this book too! I read a free promotional copy and my review above is unbiased and given voluntarily.
Mail Order Bride Finds Love and Makes a Difference in Town
This book is a love story about Mason and Jenny. Mason had lived with relatives since he was a boy and his parents died in a house fire. He was encouraged to send for a Mail Order Bride and was given a mail order bride advertisement section of a newspaper. A suggestion was made that it would be good if she were a schoolteacher because the current balanced his teaching with preaching-serviceable e held in the schoolhouse. Mason noticed an ad from a woman who had been a governess, and he had the teacher. He eagerly awaited the arrival of his bride and was not disappointed. They married the following weekend.
Read this book to learn how she changed the life of three children and their mother who were being abused by their father and husband. Jenny's interest in their welfare made a real difference in their lives.
A nice, quick read. Mason's family has sort of forced him to pick a bride, so he advertised for a bride. He corresponded with several, but picked Jenny. He hopes they will get along. The town also needs a new teacher and she can fill that job as well. Jenny is so glad to see the end of her trip to meet her future husband. She is pleasantly surprised by her husband, but wants to know him better. It doesn't take long for them to realize they want to get married right away. As Jenny tries to protect a couple of her students from an abusive father, it does cause some contention between her and her new husband. The father has had a grudge against Mason's family for years and Mason knows what kind of person he is. He just doesn't want Jenny to get hurt. Can they come to an understanding?
This is the first book in the trilogy, but it was the third I read. The story wasn’t bad, but it was too short. Things happened to quickly, almost as if you’re reading a fleshed out outline. Even though I loved the other two books this one just wasn’t as good and I’m glad it was the last. After reading the last book, which was my first read I purchased the other two. If I’d read this first I double if I would ever have read the others which would have been a shame. So if you have just read this, they get better. Give the author another try. I don’t think you’ll be sorry.
When I read a book by Amelia Rose I expect strong gentlemanly men and strong capable women, I was not disappointed with this book. Mason might not have wanted to get married but his aunt and uncle were correct in that he needed to. Jenny might not have been raised on a ranch but she was determined to learn what she needed to know to be a helpmate to Mason. This book has romance, humor and social justice. I love that there is usually problem or injustice to be solved in most of Ms Rose’s books. This was a very enjoyable book to read.
Jenny is on her way to Montana to be a mail order bride! Something she never expected to be, a bride! Wow! When Mason placed his advertisement he only did so because his Aunt and Uncle told him he had to get married or lose the one thing he loved - the ranch! So here he is on his way to town to meet Jenny Carson his intended and soon to be school teacher for the town. What happens when these two meet? Will it be sparks or will they have second thoughts? Only one way to find out, read this great story by Amelia Rose.
I was enjoying this book and then it suddenly ended. It is a partially satisfying ending in itself if you reread it, but I expected more about the problem with the neighbor who'd been arrested. I've never been jolted by an ending to a book, even when I thought the author rushed to finish the story. It was like this storyline was cut short before the plot came to a natural conclusion. If it had not done this I would have rated it a 5.
This was a pretty good story, I enjoyed the beginning of how Jenny became a mail order bride, her strong character, and wit at times. Mason was a man who never intended to be put into a rush to marry, but succumbed to his aunt and uncle's direction and went forth in seeking a mail order bride. These two instantly liked what they saw in each other at first meet. All in all it was a good book and I do recommend it.
This story lacked sufficient conflict to make the story interesting. Readers no longer want to read a whole novella (even if it is 190 pages) without some conflict. It gives the story reason for being. In this story, six and a half chapters (of the nine) are about a reluctant man getting a mail-order bride and being pleasantly surprised. Then, as an afterthought, two children come to school with bruises.
This is a short sweet story about a mail order bride and her betrothed. The FMC is also the town’s new school teacher who suspects a few of her students are being abused. Her new husband doesn’t want her to get personally involved, which causes a rift between them. The story moves at a nice pace with good secondary characters. I didn’t care much for the Audible narrator, although he might be good reading a different genre.
This was an exciting and sweet read. I love the daring & lively Jenny Carson with a red headed temper who meets the marriage reluctant Mason Crawford until he looks into her eyes. The attraction is instant but will it last when Jenny goes against Mason’ wishes & confronts an abusive father? Yes it does & love survives.
Mason gets pressured into picking out a mail order bride. He is approving of Jenny when she arrives. She is not only there to be his wife but the towns new schoolteacher too. Jenny is new to the area but soon fits in very well. Add in some domestic abuse that the Crawford’s want yo help solve and you have a great story.
The author's writing has improved since the first book I read some years ago. The story is complete and deals with an abusive husband and father in a time where the wife/mother had no rights. Our fiery bride doesn't let that stop her from trying to stop the abuse.
I really enjoyed this novel. How they met, learned to love was very enjoyable. As a retired teacher I share in her feelings of watching out for students. As a married man the idea of working together as a team leads to a happy life, thank you, Jack.
It was a mail order bride, could also be called they met their match. Sparks flies, she has red hair that matches her fiery temperament, and their instant attraction. A cute story to read, as all of the author’s books are Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
This is a sweet and heart warming story with great character development. This is Mason and Jenny's story. It is a fun read with enough action to keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
An easy-to-read book that was funny and exciting with a new romance that had me smiling as I read along and feeling a part of the story. I love the way it took me to the old west and how scary being a mail-order bride had to be, and yet exhilarating. Book gifted to me.
I love Amelia Rose’s books sometimes it nice to read a romantic clean story. The western story’s are always exciting to see what happens. The Ranchers Fiery Bride is just that it tells the story of Mason and Jenny. If you like wholesome, adventurous and romantic then this is the book for you.
It's so funny and serious at the same time. Bride surprises everyone by being a new bride and trying to make her feel equal to her husband. Wish it had been a longer story. Thank you for making it clean as well. Carmen
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves historical romances. The only thing wrong was it wasn't long enough, needs more to the story that just him being pushed into writing for a bride and them meeting.
It is nice to read a story about a time when it was not unusual for a man to try to find a mail order bride and to have a story that is refreshing without all of the foul language and sex
Plain boring. Boring couple. Boring town. Boring feminist school teacher in the western?! I mean... I thought I would be free from this agenda while reading a romantic western book. I guess I was wrong.
A Rancher and a Mail Order Bride who also becomes a first time school teacher marry after knowing each other a little while. They learn to navigate life’s challenges. An interesting and captivating read!
This is one of the stories that keeps you going! I love the personality of Jenny who could not keep quiet when things are not going well for her students no matter who says what.
