Where to start? First I have to give thanks to Our Heavenly Father, as He blessed me with having received an advanced copy of this book. Also, I am a very humbled member of the book release team. With that said, this book was not ' just a book '. Rather, an intense course of how to be what need to be to battle the enemy successfully: a ferocious warrior
There were many take aways from this journey. As I started out on the reading, I quickly grabbed a notebook and pen, taking notes the entire way. While I read thru the book averaging about one to two chapters per day, I plan on going back for a re-read. On my next read thru, I will be devoting a week per chapter. Yes, there is so much to absorb.
My life has been forever changed and my faith forever strengthened. I pray the same happens for you.
Coleman came to the realization if she did not become a ferocious warrior, the enemy would steal everything she had. She shares her experiences of building up her faith, developing a disciplined walk with God, recognizing the tactics of the enemy, removing her hindrances, becoming persistent in prayer and learning how to use all the weapons God has provided, all the while deepening her relationship with God.
This is a very honest and encouraging book. The Colemans struggled with infertility. They have adopted two children but experienced disappointments along the way. Coleman fought depression and discouragement. Out of all of it came her determination to be ferocious in facing the enemy, finding strength in pain, refusing to run from obstacles and surrendering to God.
Coleman encourages readers to take responsibility for their choices, to trust God when circumstances are out of their control, to become humble before God and receive deliverance. She emphasizes several times the need for discipline, such as a disciplined mind. She also reminds readers there is no victory without a fight.
While she includes a prayer and an affirmation at the end of each chapter, I felt there was a lack of practical strategy to carry out Coleman's teachings. “To be a ferocious warrior, you need to be able to think differently,” she writes. (95) Great encouragement but a practical strategy to do that is missing. “Don't leave yourself open to the enemy,” she writes. (97) Whole books have been written about doing just that.
My favorite part of the book was her section on prayer. She has struggled with prayer and her teaching on it was the fruit of her own learning to be a good prayer warrior.
This is a very encouraging book. Coleman thoroughly encourages readers to become ferocious warriors. If you are a reader who can come up with your own plan from encouraging teaching, you'll do well with this book. If you need someone to lay out a practical strategy for you, this book might best be read with trusted friends. Shared ideas in the group might provide the strategy needed.
Food for thought: “To be a ferocious warrior, you must be willing to make conscious decisions to become the best version of yourself.” (7)
I received a complimentary ARC from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
This book was PHENOMENAL!!!!!! I read certain parts of it over and over as I need to further meditate on it! I was already a Warrior but after reading this book by Cora Jakes Coleman, I am now a FEROCIOUS WARRIOR!!! I will go back and reference this book regularly because I LOVED the prayers that she placed at the end of each chapters!!! They were powerful written prayers that will help move mountains. I recommend this book to everyone!
The book “Ferocious Warrior” is very powerful read. The book from the Introduction to the Conclusion is phenomenal. I could not put this book down, I felt every hurdle, pain and disappointment. It reminds us to be grateful of all the trials and tests we have overcome. We don’t have to look like what we’ve been through. The author has had ‘But God’ experiences that gives hope to others. In sharing some phrases that really hit home. One was “Your fight may not be like mine.” Another one is “Whatever your fight looks like, you’re not alone.” Powerful words to remember when you’re in an unfavorable circumstance. ‘Ferocious Warrior’ is a book that will not let you back down even if you had the opportunity to do so. Its’ about standing with all your might and strength, knowing who and what you know will help you avail much. Regardless of what issues that comes your way stand bold, stand fearless, be fierce, and always pray without ceasing.
I highly recommend this book. I receive this book for my review from Charisma House.
Let's disregard for a moment that Cora Jakes is the daughter of Bishop T.D Jakes. She is her own person and her own woman.
I saw this book in passing and chose not to purchase it, but I kept seeing it verywhere so I bought it, a completely blind purchase. The cover is what really drew me to the book because I felt that!! Sword and all!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Cora speaks about her life, and her struggles, and just because of who her father is does not necessarily mean she had an easy life. Some may think otherwise, but I beseech you to think differently. This book helped me see things in my life in a different light and taught me how to be appreciative of what I do have and stop pondering on what I don't or can't have.
The daughter of a famous preacher (T.D. Jakes), she certainly has a story to tell and even though this book is primarily about challenging you to be a warrior for Christ, you get a glimpse into what she has gone through especially with infertility and the subsequent adoption of her two kids. I probably need to go back and read her earlier book "Faithing It". I am not a big fan of prayers written out yet her prayers at the end of each chapter are very inspirational and heartfelt it appears. Probably the best part of the book is in the back with Appendix A (Who You Are in Christ) and Appendix B - Scriptures and Declarations to Awaken the Warrior in You. Simple and straightforward to read yet powerful for anyone wanting more out of their spiritual life.
That is the premise for this book. It’s obvious the pain Cora has endured with her struggles with fertility ( I also have problems with infertility) however, I felt her biggest pain point is trying to have a natural child when she’s been blessed with 2 beautiful children. I realize every body has their own journey they have to take but when I hear how depressed woman become when they have difficulty conceiving I also think about how they are looking at the glass half empty and not the half that is full.
Ferocious Warrior is well written and will give you a new hunger to be connected to God. It will implore you to grow your faith and fight to keep it! The supreme instructions and illustrations will help you navigate every aspect of life: good, bad, happy, sad, disappointments , conquests and everything in between. Being a Ferocious Warrior will help you see the victory through it all.
This book is a must read for anyone who is struggling in their faith to see the victory. It contains power packed prayers and scriptures to speak over your life. I even recorded myself reading the prayers out loud so I can play them while I'm driving. Thank you woman of God for being transparent with your struggles. It truths changed the way I pray.
I enjoyed the book even though I do not like self help reads. It was a bit one sided, if you never struggled with fertility issues then its hard to relate. Overall there are interesting perspectives but I couldn't relate because it was only one lane, one topic, one side. She's got a whole lot of living to do.
This book is insightful and full of wisdom. Cora teaches life is full of test and trials but through faith we are victorious…not victims by circumstances. Her challenges in infertility have taught her to be thankful. This is a must read and a go to book to help with developing a life built on faith.
Peace be still. Oh my goodness I feel so empowered a must read for all. Cora did a fabulous job and I appreciate her sharing her truth even though it's painful to do. God bless true warrior.
I loved this. It was written so well...as if I were having a conversation with Pastor Cora herself. I felt encouraged and inspired, as well as challenged. I lived the prayers and the scriptures and nuggets of truth!
This book made me tear up once and not many Christian books do that for me. I enjoyed her story not giving up on the hope to have a child. Her honesty. She was brave to write this book and for that I am grateful
"I refuse to let infertility define me. I choose to be productive in my life. My fertility isn't just about what I can birth, but also about what I can build for God's kingdom." - Cora Jakes-Coleman
One of the best books I've read/listened to in a long while! In the audiobook, Cora uses her authority in Christ as she speaks and it can be felt through the car speakers! This is one book every Christian should read and study.
I enjoyed this book. I didn't give it a full 5 stars because it was a bit repetitive, but I loved the prayers at the end of each chapter. Definitely worth reading and using as a reference.
I came across this book on the library bookshelf under the category Biography/Autobiographies. I was not too interested in the book until I read the back cover and noticed that she is the daughter of Bishop TD Jakes. So then I thought to give the book a try. Cora shares her testimony while including the struggles with infertility and the challenges with her adopting children, all intertwined with how the Grace of God and the walk of Faith are the heart of her journey. Well written with nuggets of wisdom and words of encouragement.
