In a society that does not like to speak about death, Eryl Davies brings a contemporary, biblical, pastoral perspective on one of the most controversial topics of our times. The desire to control when and how one’s life ends can be a complex and heart–breaking issue, so Davies encourages Christians to be informed, and to engage with the debate, bringing God’s light to the darkness.
Dr Davies is Research Supervisor at WEST (Wales Evangelical School of Theology) where he was principal and lecturer from 1985 until 2006, and is an elder in the Heath Evangelical Church, Cardiff. He has written many books and papers, such as Heaven is a Far Better Place; Human Cloning; and Truth Under Attack: Volumes 1 and 2, all published by EP Books.
An introduction to some of the key questions surrounding end of life care, and suicide. Eryl Davies writes with compassion and pastoral concern, and helpfully shows how these are not abstract issues, but realities that affect real people, and can cause significant suffering. He highlights the key arguments and attitudes lying behind support for euthanasia, and shows what a Christian response looks like - although I would have appreciated more extensive and focussed biblical discussion.
