The Crow captured my imagination when I saw the Movie upon release in the cinema, this was somewhat before the age of internet. It was a bit of shocker when I read in a magazine that the actor Brandon Lee who played the character Eric Draven/Crow had died during the making of the movie. It does give the movie a sad gravitas. I've seen the continuation movies and they were in their own way not too bad, and the TV series was to put it mildly a really poor effort taking the darkness from the production which should accompany anything to do with the Crow universe.

When t comes to the comics The Crow continuation series by Image and now IDW are a lot more hit and miss. This particular crossover never has any art to be impressed about and the story is a bit Meh, which makes this mini-series one to ignore and wait for better offerings.

Very cool crossover comic! Tim Seeley did a great job of servicing both series as the story is fun as most Hack/Slash crossovers are! The art was a bit meh, but it was serviceable at the very least.

If you like Hack/Slash and The Crow (I'm sure there's a bunch of overlap in the fanbases) then this one will not steer you wrong. It's a nice self-contained story where you don't need to be an expert on the lore of either series to fully enjoy this collection.

Definitely better than that horrid Hack/Slash vs Chaos crossover. However, it wasn't exciting like the previous crossovers that have been done like Army of Darkness and Chucky.

Cassie Hack meets The Crow? Sounds like it should be perfection, ur it doesn’t quite balance.
3.5 and a good but not great. Sigh

I have mixed feelings about this comic. I LOVED the Crow in this! Marcus Grieves captures much of the same spirit of the original Crow, Eric Draven, while still bringing something new and original to the Crow character! I can't say that for the other Crows I have read. The bad part about this comic is that he isn't in a ton of it and this isn't his story. He feels like a guest star in a Hack/Slash comic. He doesn't even show up until the very end of issue 1 and this is only 4 issues long.

I'd love to get a whole comic series fully showing and exploring the Crow story of Marcus Grieves and get to know more about his lover, Aiden! Both seemed like great characters! I even liked how unique the Crow look Marcus has is in this! I don't know how you could ride a motorcycle without shoes though! I would have preferred him rocking his high heels!

I barely remember issue 1 of this because it's all about Cassie Hack and I didn't really care for her character. She's not a terrible character, but I wouldn't say she's a good character either. I feel for Marcus when he says he's getting tired of saving her angry white ass. I don't know how this character has managed to stay alive. She's so angry, reckless and unskilled as a fighter. She's just stuck in pure rage Berserker mode almost all the time! Tim Seeley had to come up with some real creative reasoning as to why the Crow would need her help at all.

The other aspects of the Crow mythology and how their powers work in this universe was very interesting!
The art was quite good.
I wish the ending for Marcus's character had been less ambiguous. I feel like his ending could be interpreted two different ways. One way was good, but the other was very bad and if he got the bad ending that would make me mad because it's completely unnecessary.
This comic feels like it was mainly made for Hack/Slash fans and was trying to get Crow fans to pick up that series as well. I personally didn't care for the Hack/Slash aspects, nor do I care to read anymore Hack/Slash. Maybe other Crow fans will feel differently.

The truth is, this feels like a cash grab. Some good ideas are in here, but they are lessened by Cassie Hack being the lead protagonist. With one idea borrowed from Judah Earl and a LGBT related incident that feels like it's 20 years too late, I felt nothing for this story with MAYBE the moments where Cassie empathizes with Marcus. So this is how it is, that we have an avatar that gets published because of a prior existing character? It'd be nice if this leads to more Crow connected stories through IDW, otherwise, what a shame. By the way, this is based on the four actual issues, which is how I read it.

The crow is one of my favorite franchises of all time and after going through the early run, if this is what the idw books outside of the james o'barr and john shirley ones, I'm in big trouble because this comic sucks and I hate it. If they were trying to promote hack/slash they did a terrible job at it and if this was to promote the crow to idw readers then they accidentally made a middle finger to the franchise. The leads from hack/slash and the two crows are genuinely boring characters, the story use contrivances to make this story work and the lore of the crow is messed with in all the worse ways here.

Crossovers are hard to do. And The Crow is even harder to adapt. But they actually managed to pull it off.

An exciting comic crossover, The Crow: Hack/Slash – She Wears Shadows is a riveting and action-packed revenge thriller. When Cassie Hack’s partner in nearly killed by a rogue Crow named Angeles Cero who’s taken her vengeance beyond what she was resurrect for, Cassie reluctantly teams up with a second Crow that’s been sent to stop Angeles. Hack/Slasher creator Tim Seeley does a fair job at bringing The Crow into the Hack/Slasher mythos; though it does mess around a bit with The Crow mythology (which has never been that solid). Still, the fight scenes are dynamic and well-staged. Also, the artwork by Jim Terry really good, featuring a strong use of color and texture. The Crow: Hack/Slash – She Wears Shadows has a couple of weak spots, but overall it delivers an entertaining adventure bridging two worlds.
