They said he was evil. They said he was dangerous. But he was just trying to survive... Parker's biggest problem in life was getting the boy he liked to notice him. Now, after discovering he's a warlock, the life he once knew is gone. Now he must contend with a mother that lied to him, a brother that hates him, and a father that doesn't know him. And if that wasn't enough, a group of fanatical witch hunters have set him and his family in their sights. In order to protect those he loves, Parker must embrace his dark powers while not becoming the monster the witch hunters say he is. But the ability to bend the world to his will is an alluring temptation. Previously published under Kyle Lewis

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

There were parts of this book that I really enjoyed, but there was so much I felt could have flowed better. The flow was strange at times, like the author felt "got to mention this" and "oh, yeah add that", but the transitions were just rough. It wasn't the whole story, but every time I was getting really into the story it would hit another rougher patch.

The only character in this book I actually liked was Kat. For the teenagers, I guess I just had trouble reconciling the "they're young and bound to do stupid things" and "how could they be that stupid". I'm still not sure they really get the consequences of some of their actions (if I could see more of the lessons they learned, maybe it would work better for me). The adults in this story were just bad role models all around as far as I'm concerned.

This book felt very much like the beginning of a new series, and not a stand alone. As a stand-alone, this book kind of failed for me. Parker only got a minimal semblance of a HFN, but so many other things were left completely unresolved.

If this was the introduction to a new series, I am very curious to see what the Keepers next move will be, will Liz get her wish to be with Victor? Will Evan and Ember get together? What exactly is an eidolon, in this context? Does no one find it remarkable that Parker had an ability that was supposed to have been bred out of the Harbinger line?

Wow this book was amazingly written. Once I started I couldn’t put it down till I was finished. This book has twists and turns you don’t know what’s happening. will they all get there happily ever after or will it all go wrong. To find out what happens go buy the book. You won’t be disappointed I wasn’t.

Dark Magic by Kayci Morgan is a wonderful story that I have read and loved. I loved reading this story cause it is a YA story and has magic in the story. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about LGBT and paranormal romances in their stories.

This was a good book but could have been better. The story's perspective jumps around a bit as it changes from one character to the next which was a little confusing at first. Other than that, it is still worth reading. The plot was good if a little predictable. This is a standalone book.

I want to like it. I'm approximately fifty percent done. I like the premise, and i'm always down for a story that is a story even with GLBT characters. But the sheer unreal characterization has me so so...upset. The book had potential. But the lack of some of the details for characterization penalized it greatly.
