If you flick through past the beginning, you are sure to get caught up in this ride! The multiple thank you's at the end were also exhausting.. but the chunk of it is worth a listen.
If you're into business books, and is someone who enjoys counting and watching the economy for it's statistics in the stockmarket, you may enjoy the chapter about hiring. I say this, because this is the only part I would recommend to my husband.
It had many great examples, one of which I had been thinking about myself before listening to this. For example, if you rock climb outside on real rock, there's a potential of you falling to your death, but starting a new business venture maybe scary, but it isn't life threatening.
I also wrote a review for his other audiobook, "The Compound Effect". I made a few comparisons between these two books in that review.
“Approach your goals like this: ‘This is my mountain, and I’m going all the way to the top! You are going to see me either waving from the summit or lying dead on the side. I am not coming back!”
“The number one bottleneck or constraint to the growth of any organization is the leader.”
Best book I have read so far this year. It is packed with very useful information about leadership, recruitment and sales in business. With the help of accumulated knowledge from the top achievers in the world like Richard Branson, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk (to name a few), the book empowers you to find out why you want to succeed and to determine if Entrepreneurship is the right path for you. Highly recommend.
I have read many books about productivity, behavioral psychology, and leadership. This one adds a new essence to my idea bank. It helps me understand how to cultivate my strengths as a writerpreneur.
I run a side hustle called @wordholic_class, where I’ve grown not only as a writer but also as a writing coach. Since 2021, people have come to me asking for mentorship to develop a growth mindset.
This book gives me clearer insight into how I can navigate my wonderful journey toward becoming anything I want. Yes, I admit I have an opportunistic trait when it comes to my small business, but I always prioritize helping people before thinking about money. I never teach something that I haven’t practiced or mastered myself.
That’s why self-leadership has become my core skill and helps me control what’s good and minimize the negative impact of wrong choices.
This is the second book by Darren Hardy that I truly love.
Many of the lessons from the book I learned the hard way, whether through personal experience, other books, or leadership training. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The author clearly had a mission: to support new entrepreneurs and highlight crucial tips. In a nutshell: you can't only choose the good times; you will face failure when trying to achieve anything impactful, but do not give up! The book's encouragement was truly uplifting.
It was also interesting to see that the author emphasized sales as the most important and most intimidating: cold calling, prospecting. And: minimize the time you use for disappointment or failures: analyze what happened and continue. The more time you use in misery, the less productive it is. The author had minimized the time from two weeks to two hours.
This is okay, but it could have been a lot shorter, and you can find a lot of these lessons and other books. My favorite parts were his memories of his dad. He could write a memoir just about his relationship with his dad, and I think it would be a lot more compelling.
I listened to this book via audiobook, and I think I would have got more out of it had I read the hard copy. Regardless, this is a good introductory book to entrepreneurship. It felt like a summary of a lot of other great books I had read more than a groundbreaking business book.
This is a solid guide to being an entrepreneur. I love the style of the book. There are stories and anecdotes that help bring the message home. Good self-help for the business owner.
Really great book. Definitely see myself reading this again. Most business and entrepreneur books are garbage and the author is self promoting. But this one was really good. Gave good examples.
